I only recently got into the Doors after being a Beatles-fan for a long time. They immediately reminded me of the Beatles, only way darker and with some long instrumental passages. But both bands share a certain magic that it hard to put into words.

Yes, The Doors are very genuine to their own style and although they belong in the rock genre I can never put a label to the type of music they played. Don’t want to. The Doors stood on their own feet in a world totally submerged into Beatles influence. This coming from a big Beatles fan, but my first true love were The Doors.

The Stones took inspiration from The Beatles during a few stages of their career. But they did not copy them. The Beatles made nothing that sounds like Exile on Main Street, they made nothing that sounds like jumping jack flash or gimme shelter. Mick inducted the beatles into the hall, and has continuously given them credit. Stop it.

I agree with Morrison, although I think the Beatles music got heavier and psychedelic at times as the band grew, but I can see why he would describe the earlier albums as raw and especially authentic because they stuck to their rock n’ roll roots. Their heaviest songs did come later, though.

Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt. Peppers are generally softer and slower than the early Rock and Roll they were doing, but they came right back a thousand times that rough with their hard rock bits on the white album, Abbey Road and Let It Be.

These three were actually risk takers and broke ground in their occupations to create works that would last through multiple generations. Drugs were part of the scene. It was mostly naivety in trusting those around them for what they were getting more than long bouts of abuse. As a former addict, had I been travelling the globe trying to get a straight dose regardless of where I copped I'd have died too, and quick. Sometimes it's a bit of fate too. I should have been dead twice, but it wasn't my time apparently. I didn't want to risk a third time. That's been 21.75 years ago today.

Jim and John met in New York twice, it was the club where Jim.sang with Jimi Hendrix. George Harrison went to.Elektra records to help with the soft parade album since it had all different instruments and recording tips so George and Robbie became friends. And theres a rumor Jim stopped in at Abbey Road studios during the white album recording and the lyric like a lizard on the window pane in happiness is a warm gun is about Jim being in the studio. But that ones not confirmes

The Beatles changed when they listened to the Doors,it seems to me that those two bands influenced each other,the difference between them in my opinion is that The Doors didn't looking for fame,money and things like that ,also the system fought them in comparison to the Beatles that the system helped the grow in order to guide the masses.I don't compare who's the better band,both bands are still great.....

for those of you who don't know, the "Paul holding a doors record" picture is photoshopped/fake. This picture was taken in 1966 during the Revolver sessions. 'The Doors' was released in 1967. Paul is holding The Rolling Stones' "After Math" in that picture the fake photo gets the point across visually, but is dishonest. just so you know

Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzerek asked McCartney to join the Doors in the 1970s. Paul was honored but politely declined, saying he could not respectfully replace Morrison.

Interesting that he saw the first couple albums as being the raw and honest side of them when they were the most manufactured albums they made. It wasn't until about Rubber Soul that they really broke that mold and embraced a more raw and experimental side of themselves, the stuff before that was really just pop music. They lost quite a few fans by changing up their sound in the later albums because they matured as musicians and artists faster than their audience matured.

Well I'm glad to love both The Beatles and The Doors. In one person's book about meeting Jim Morrison on a person's review on a debut album of The Doors, it said that Jim got to the image of John, Paul, George, and Ringo before having the image of Mick Jagger after he lost the weight. I was introduced to The Doors before the Fab Four and my favorite song is *Light My Fire* . Jim Morrison, George Harrison, and John Lennon hope you guys are rocking out in the sky along with Brian Jones and Jimi Hendrix!

I agree with Jim Morrison, The Beatles were the Greatest until about 1966. Ater Brain died McCartney stole the band and the band went down because Paul wanted to do show tunes and Lennon said I hate that stuff and wanted out but stayed out of loyalty to the other three. That why John didn’t write much until 1969.
