I assume you’re referring to the Illustration at 6:20, which actually is a depiction of the “Utsuro-bune,” a hollow object that washed ashore in 1803 carrying a woman who couldn’t speak Japanese. Some ufologists interpret the craft as a UFO (of course)-but it was by no means a “flying saucer.”

Some of the more iconic "UFO" depictions are simply us not understanding iconography of the time. There are exceptions, like the wood inlay of the commotion in the sky over Germany, but many of the "crafts" are iconographic depictions that would have been understood at the time as a symbolic representation and not a depiction of some flying unknown entity.

For those wondering, the thumbnail is not a depiction of someone in a spaceship. The moon and sun were regularly personified in art, and they were usually both present whenever a deity was present in the artwork to show that he had command of the known universe.

In the Old Testament of the Bible a UFO is described in the 1st chapter of Ezekiel. In some of the older versions of the Bible It was a great lighted wheel in the sky. Newer versions of the Bible play down the "lighted wheel" in the sky part. All do seem to report that the wheel landed near Ezekiel and some members of the crew exited and were described by Ezekiel.

Of course, something else to keep in mind…people had been dreaming of flying since…well, people existed…some of these may be representative of what people from the future might do, or angels might do, or imagined “superior” creatures might do…not that they are depicted as something they actually saw, but rather a symbolic way of showing a knowledgeable audience that these individuals in the picture are meant to be perhaps a special class of angels or people from the future, maybe their descendants or aspects of God…remember, medieval art wasn’t intended to be realistic as later art styles were…pre-renaissance…so, more about telling biblical stories…we discussed this in art history class in uni…they didn’t paint with visual perspective either

Do your research please. The Crucifix depicts a common motif that was prevalent for several centuries. The 2 objects are the sun and moon. Hundreds of examples of this motif exist including representations of Roman Caesar's. The one you show is the easiest to misrepresent .The Madonna is a representation of the angel coming down to earth from heaven to tell the shepherd of the coming of the lord Christ. This also has dozens of similar representation and you guessed it. this artists presentation is easiest to misrepresent. Thanks for the lack of effort or the intention to deceive for clicks.
