The only argument I have why you would kick the field goal instead of going for two is if your OC is terrible at short yardage situations. It just so happens that our OC is terrible in short yardage situations. We most certainly did not have a 55% chance of success on that 2 pt try but it was still the right play.

I feel generally the same way about this game as Mike and James but we cannot just ignore the fact that Jayden Daniels and McLaurin were about an inch away from having two massive touchdown catches and a 200+ yard receiving day. Our backs were beat on those plays, Jayden had time to throw, and it was just ever EVER so slightly out of reach. It happened twice and we were insanely lucky that it didn't.
@dryker70855 күн бұрын
But did Jayden miss those throws because of all the pressure he was obviously getting from us.

Drops r a part of the game. Saints lost the game due to a drop, so should I say that the saints should have the game? When you're playing against a good team and being a bad team, you're only gonna win if you capitalize on their mistakes.
@Morphitrix5 күн бұрын
@@mitchelldouglas2483 Drops can have varying impacts on the game. There were two plays specifically that were sure touchdowns to McLaurin that were just off his fingertips. It wasn't a drop it was ever so slightly overthrown 45 yards down the field.
@mitchelldouglas24835 күн бұрын
@Morphitrix Last year, against the Jags, we lost due to a dropped td from Moreau if u remember. To this day, I won't say we should have won that game. Catching passes is a part of the game, and if you drop it, then u deserve the outcome u get in their case they deserved to be within 1 point to losing to us. If a team loses due to a missed fg, I'm not gonna say that the losing team should have won bcuz kicking fgs is a part of the game. Overthrowing the receiver is as well a part of the game.

My Favorite back in the 60s - 17th round from Xavier #46 WR Danny Abramowicz he set the NFL record for consecutive games with a catch- he was just a game or so short of Lance Alworths -96 games streak when a reporter asked about it and Danny had no idea that he had that streak going. He went on to set the record at the time of 105 and had been traded to the SF 49ers after he had broken Alworths streak. Several much longer streaks exist more than a half century later but those guys didn’t play for the terrible expansion New Orleans saints and he wasn’t fast explosive or tall. He just had good hands and concentration.

@ Texas A&M vs. Auburn this year is a good example of where they should’ve went for 2 at the end of regulation. Also getting the ball at a set yardage in college is much different than having to drive the entire field in.

totally fine with going for the 2 pointer at the end, my only point is the saints suck at them! id be very surprised James if recently they are at 50%+ making them?? i can barely remember anytime we have been successful. on the flip side a lot easier than driving up the field again.... hopefully they have a few more 2 point plays in the book......
@10010110110105 күн бұрын
I don't think the talent evaluation was necessarily wrong. Underhill has explicitly said Haener looks good at practice. But practice isn't the real game. Especially if you have expectations and stuff keeping you out of the zone, and now these people are playing for real on a professional level against you in the dome. Big difference from practice. If we at any point have a big lead...like say we manage to get a big lead and it's the fourth quarter against the Raiders or something like that, I wouldn't hate putting Haener in there to see if he can play in a real game after reflecting on the experience and maybe rebuild some confidence. That might give the guys in charge more of a complete picture. If he falls apart still, well that's something to know. I also think Austin Jr might have gotten free right after the throw

What’s better take $10 no string attached or flip a coin heads you win $15 or tails you get nothing ? Second option is always better even if you replace $10 with a a million and replace the $15 with 1.5 million. The first option is risk adverse. Second option is risk neutral.
