That turtle in the classroom reminded me of when a grown adult tried to explain to me that they know putting a turtle in a 10 gallon is ok because their sister is a biology teacher and that turtles only grow to the size of their environment and how that’s a perfectly healthy and reasonable for people to do if they don’t want animals growing big.
@lindseyfiala612 жыл бұрын
My parents say this to me about my fantail goldfish and I had to explain that it's not that they stop growing it's that they physically cannot grow more so their body instead shuts down. But "it's just a fish" in their eyes.

I had a similar thing happen to me once, I was at my local fish store to get some supplies and one of the employees saw me getting a 0.5 gallon container to separate my baby guppies from the adults until they were large enough to live with them and told me to get 2 bettas for it , they told me that “ the smaller the tank is the better the betta’s fins will look”

Hi Chris! Just noticed that Milly is clipped and want to just give some advice. It is really important that if you clip a birds wings, only clip one primaries. Not both. Birds have a sharp girdle and a part of their skeletal structure is the pygostyle. It can puncture birds skin just above the cloeca if they hit the ground too hard. Also, if they do not get enough flight, then they can easily develop fatty liver disease and high blood pressure. I would advise entirely against clipping and focus on target and recall training when her primaries are fully grown as well which will help progressively to get your bird accustom to flying to you from wherever you do not wish her to be. Its great because cockatiels are very intelligent. You're an awesome person and I really appreciate your content. Hope this wasn't poorly received.

The sadly ironic thing about Finding Nemo making clownfish more popular as pets is that in the movie humans try making him a pet and all the fish are depressed and just want back in the ocean. I don't know how people saw that part of the film and thought "wow, I want to trap some in an aquarium too!".

Rename Millie to Chirs and Chris is renamed to Millie. My dream setup isn’t about a particular tank, but rather having a system where the water change water from the fish room tanks drains out of pipes into a water barrel/cistern outside and then the water is used to irrigate a sustainable garden. Fish keeping + permaculture!

That school turtle tank reminds me of this 10 gallon my biology teacher had in highschool, it was full of guppies and 'live' plants. The water was a dark, murky yellowish-brown, all of the plants were dead, the substrate was straight up just dirt she got outside and there was no filter. On top of that it had a glass cover on so what little surface oxygen the tank could receive was just being cut off from it. I'd go into class every day and peak in just to see if something was still alive in there.

I think I have two dream fish tanks: One is a modification of a setup I've seen. Basically, it's a really long river tank made of wood (styled to look like a log), viewed top down and used as a table. The things I'd change from the one I saw though is making it deep and wide enough for fish and putting an actual top on it to protect against food or other contaminants when used as a table. The other setup I'd want is a massive outdoor saltwater "pond" that I can put an (or maybe multiple) epaulette shark(s) in.

My dream tank is a very long fish tank set in the wall of a hallway and a game room with a D&D theme. The tank would start with an artificial castle and village then move into a shire like set up with a thick carpet and maybe some floating rocks with moss growing on it (gotta make sure pumice stone is safe for aquariums first.) From there move into a thickly planted forest of all kinds of aquatic plants and floaters, which would then open up to a large driftwood bonsai tree with moss to give a magical Yggdrisil vibe. From there, it would move into this underground cave sort of theme built with real rocks with a multicolored light system underneath that travels through fake crystals. This would then open up to a lava bed look with dark colored plants and a huge driftwood dragon art piece as like a "final boss" sort of battle ground setting. Throughout the tank would be smaller driftwood and moss monsters, as well as aquarium safe dice sets placed along the ground by the edges of the glass. There would be a pebble path that leads through the whole aquarium.
