What do you think of the future of EWS-E? Let us know your thoughts 👇

Personally I don’t think there’s a point as there’s basically no challenge on the climb and it depends more on the bikes, and your on a heavy bike on the downhill, you could just do downhill

I thought it was a great inaugural race, can only go up from here! The so called "European domination" was more because of travel restrictions due to Covid-19 than it was that the Euros were so much better. (Lack of competition) 😜

I think your right that there is going to be a great future for e mtnbike racing and competition. It was a great video comparing the motors and rider weights.

I think it's going to a mess of rules and regulations within a few years. It won't be long until we see electric powered motocross bikes once the battery technology can support them. Then we'll have super blurred lines. We'll possibly start to see weight classes given what we've just watched for a start. The EWS-E rules will then start to differ from what consumers actually want with electric powered bikes as the EWS-E rules try to stop it just becoming electric powered motorbikes with pedals to tick a box.

Motors with no restrictions and restriction only to battery capacity would be great for the sport . We need motor innovation with motors for energy saving
@videosforcatsanddogs2144 жыл бұрын
No, we need innovation in batteries more. Motors are very efficient already.

No the Bafang ultra max is best motor by far.

Adam Betts I have had both that motor and now have the Rocky Mountain. Bosch is good but because so many other manufacturers use it it has a better chance to finish up top. I thinks the results are kinda skewed. I love the Rocky Mountain much better and it’s soooo much quieter. But because it’s proprietary tech you will not see them on other bike Manufacturers. Just my opinions for what it’s worth.

I had cube 160. Now have Frey EX pro duel battery with bafang ultra i tell you or anyone the Frey will leave all thous little 250w motors for dust its like a fiesta vs a ferrari never going to win. Get ur self a Frey bike you will see what i mean even the flyon has no chance.

9 year old racing? There needs to be specific racing standards that encourages innovation and efficiency on an equally playing field. 32kph should be a priority to achieve the optimal torque curve in relation to standard Mountain Bikes. We do not want to see riders jettison their batteries halfway though a race. My take on eMTB racing. • Payload 85kg+ • Bike weight 23kg- • Torque 85NM (envo friendly) • Battery ? (new when old) • Dual suspension. • Purple uphill flow (no loose rocks +25 Deg.) • Foot Marshall penalty at specified spots. • 32kph speed assist cut off.

I tried to get a hold of one in Belgium, bad luck for me, 2021's already sold out. Dealers have to order them when they are presented on the press event, no chance afterwards to order an additional one. Covid doesn't help either...

Hi - we look after KTM in the UK, lots of dealers have the 2021 versions on order and there are dealers with the 2020 in stock still. What do you want to know?

Was thinking of putting a 36 or 38t chainring on my cube as we normally ride about 6 miles to get to our trails on the south downs. And as a motorcycle racer I know about the effect larger sprockets have on excelleration, so was thinking the larger chainring would give more road speed for less cadence on the way up to the trails. But how much would it effect the climbing capabilities? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Fraser

There are too many variables and individual modifications at elite level to draw any firm conclusions about components, brands or parts. Rider weight being the only stand out factor. Interesting as it is, none of this matters as I bomb down my local trail........
@pc.90084 жыл бұрын
Hopefully they won't introduce any of the F1 weight restrictions business, but heavier riders are defo disadvantaged atm.

Newbie question, how do the race organisers ensure the bikes aren't derestricted or otherwise hacked? I think one could hack a bike to run just 1% faster, only when a toggle is activated, e.g. via bluetooth. Would be very hard to detect.
@CarkeekW4 жыл бұрын
you can detect bluetooth running , scan for it . You can also put a bike on a dyno and power it to see its output , i think these things should help. We had a (boat) racer using a magnetic switch for such things but we found the switch and it was traced via the cables it needed. Motors can be stripped and weighed vs stock motors and tested for power out of the bike then sealed, lots of options that are doable if you can think about how to prevent this. Also if cheating is ever discovered it must be assumed the hack was in place for the entire time the rider has been racing and all awards are stripped.

What was the spread of motors? It's a bit daft to say that the top 5 were BOSCH if 90% of motors were BOSCH.

Could any one tell me,why haibike or tq flyon not in the series Thanks in advance
@maschypee82434 жыл бұрын
From what I've gleaned watching Sam Pilgrim's posts and those of Helen Fruhwirth who are both Haibike pros is that Haibike really aren't interested in competition riding and riders right now, their objective is getting more bums on bikes. Most of their pros are brand ambassadors with no obligation to compete...just ride and promote doing what you do best.
@TheAntoine1914 жыл бұрын
Honestly power stages makes no sense. The only fair racing with ebikes is downhill. To do fair racing on both up and down motor should be limited to standard predefined output. Any electric motor manufacturer could build a 1kW motor or 10kW motors ! make no sense to go this way. Then bike should be tested prior to racing to check that motors are within regulated output and speed limit. Finally a weight penalty system should be made to compensate some of the weight advantage. A bigger rider will be stronger but it would never be compensated for the motor part. I guess given the output of those riders assist is about half the output on a climb so about half the weight difference should be compensated. For example for all rider below 80kg you substract rider weight to 80 , cut that difference in two and add it to the bike. 69kg rider would have a 5kg penalty, gilloux a 9.5kg one for example.
