Thanks Timmy your lack of trailer maintenance has given me the motivation I needed to do some👍😉 That poor trailer😂 inox and mako oil is a lot cheaper than a rebuild especially after only 18months!

I ended up using zinc plates off of an old mercruiser I/O drive in five different spots on my trailer, I haul a 32' cc and what a difference $40 worth of zinc's randomly bolted to the frame of the trailer it makes, I easily notice %70 less rust on The trailer and components then the year before and the zinc's were %50eaten away, just an idea turtle to have as an option

Good on ya Timmy, you're doing well. I was following your channel when you were down on the Tweed. Me too. And after the 22 floods we moved to Townsville cause we got wiped out in Murwillumbah. Still following your channel and watching out for you on the water. Keep doing what you are doing mate. I'm watching RoKKit as we speak too.

cool to c George again. mate, saltwater environment preventive maintenance is paramount n cost effective. tied, sun burnt or fk it do it tomorrow just wont cut the mustard. boat motor trailer has to be washed/scrubbed/flushed down every time, cool thing is u recognize this now. u have fixed the problems n ur preventive maintenance starts now. well done TT.

I spray nuts with Battery terminal protector - its yellow and has zinc in it. Everything else spray with lanolin once a month or every other month to slow rust. put anti sieze on the studs.

@ZTDesigns6 ай бұрын
Love that suspension but it’s really not designed for boat trailers and salt water. You pretty much have to strip it all from day 1 and get it hot dip galvanised, swap all hardware out for stainless and ceramic coat the parts that can’t be galvanised. Also DeeMaxx makes a stainless backed brake pad with a lifetime warranty.

Take a close look at the DC to DC charger set up, it may have likely cooked the 36V....
@rickfletcher84226 ай бұрын
It might be harder for you up there as the saltwater goes inland a fair way I think. But if you can dip the trailer in a freshwater boat ramp after you take it out it might help your corrosion issues a bit? Good chance to flush the motor too!

hey mate a teflon isolation pad between the steel hinge point will help your alloy frame from being eaten from corrosion

We used copper slip grease on all bolts on the cranes on the harbour in South Africa. Do you get copper slip grease in Australia? It keep rust of the crane bolts and I use it on my reels as well.

As per usual, love the vid Timmy. Looks/sounds like you have or are going to sell the boat and trailer
@stevepierce35096 ай бұрын
Wow, at all or most of the items your replacing are called wear and tear items and by the looks minimal up keep and maintenance on them. Lessons learned there I recon for you owning a big boat and trailer ! If you seen what George uses to clean his trailers ( AUTOSMART PRODUCTS ) they have a product called G101. This product is a product leader Australia wide to clean the very worst of boats and mould from everything, and I mean everything so have it in your kit when your cleaning the boat. Another tip coat your running gear in lanolin over a 3 day process coating them several times and use grease tape on areas that are larger when replacing to new items. And use the Lanolin on a regular basis. Then you will not have so many issues.

Get rid of that alxe/suspension set up. Put twin torsion axles set up and you'll never look back. Less stuff to rust and wear out. Best thing i ever did. Isn't the 36v battery under warranty?

Wow, a year and a half and alot of things cooked! Whats doing with that?

Was thinking the same. I have a 3.5T gal trailer thats 2.5yrs old and done plenty of kms and still like brand new. Just done first set if bearings. But those suspensions set up is bound to fail for ever. There a van/camper set up. Needs torsion axles. I have them and faultless.

I PUT TECTYL ON THE FACE OF THE HUBS INSIDE ROTORS,BOTH SURFACES OF ROTORS,THE PADS AND ON THE CALIPERS, I MEAN EVERYWHERE. I'M A CAR MECHANIC AND DON'T SEE ANY PROBLEM WITH THAT, THE BRAKES STILL WORK AND THE ROTORS TURN A BLACK COLOUR AND DOESN'T RUST.

Mate don’t get me wrong I like hearing your story of what you did , BUT this could have been so much great content if you bought a small tripod and filmed yourself doing all the stuff you’ve talked about ,that’s what all us couch lizards enjoy, watching someone else do all that stuff and we don’t get dirty or greasy or wet or hot blah blah blah Anyhow looking forward to more fishing when the weather is better Cheers from down south

Thing I learned quick about boats is if it has a grease nipple then pack it to the absolute balls with grease it can't do any harm hahaha. Salt water is so destructive people don't understand I mean look at Naval ships their crews are constantly blasting rust off and applying paint on a weekly basis one of my mates served in the Royal Navy for 22 years and he said its amazing to see what damage saltwater can do to anything. It wasn't so bad for me in the Royal Air Force even when I was based on the Sub Hunter base the spray from the sea used to blister the paint off the aircraft so they were always getting sprayed.

Hey bro I recently redid everything on my boat trailer, did all the rollers, spindles, skid boards, etc in the garage I just used multiple planks of wood stacked on top of a Jack and jacked the boat at the very back under the transom I just raised it enough I could get everything out from underneath. You gotta be careful though while the boats on the jack it gets wobbly, get a mate to spot you Best of luck with it bud
