It's really depressing😔 when you realise that hardworking Nigerians make less than 30k Naira income while a group of people cheat the system to enrich themselves with wealth they don't need. Can she sleep in 57 houses? Can he ride in 3 private jets? These looters have killed thousands of people in Nigeria by relocating resources to other wealthy nations thereby denying the people access to basic healthcare, food and security. They should be tried as genociders, they killed people with strokes of pen and buttons on computers. The unfair evil of corruption in Nigeria is depressing. If this is what they have uncovered so far just imagine how much is still locked away by many greedy politicians.

If the criminals were robbing the banks and then decide that they are not leaving the bank to avoid to be caught and then request for food and water. Everyone would say that the criminals are mad they should come out and be arrested. Now because the criminals in the case of stealing minerals in the mines, are illegal immigrants, so we should debate if it wrong for the police to not to rescue them. These Zama Zamas were given a month to come out and they refused. As soon as the court demanded that the govt give them food, they were even demanding cigarettes and ARVs.

This is why the South African Government made better and easier VISA arrangements with Nigeria to show their commitment to the economic benefits it will bring to the Giant of Africa. There is enough culpability to spread around with the mining situation in SA but it is all around tragic and sad. When people travel illegally to foreign countries out of desperation, they usually don’t report their existence to their embassy in that country. Which makes it hard to protect or defend them in times of crisis, until in some cases they are arrested and identified by local authorities-which in itself is a challenge because most don’t carry their documents for fear of getting deported and in some cases their documents are held by those who illegally traffick them to do the illegal mining in the first place. It is a very complex web of activities that many governments struggle to address. In this case, lives were lost, which is all that really matters. My only hope is that lessons are learnt from all side so this doesn’t happen again. Maybe some authorities are held accountable for their actions too-which I highly doubt will happen.

The government is to be blamed. They should have made sure that the company that did the mining did Decommissioning of the mine. This ensure the old mine area is safe and eliminate unauthorized access to the mine. This should be enforced by the environmental agency as it’s a global safe practice to do a proper Decommissioning of mines after its operation has ended.

Adeola, I will commend your good journalism work about Nigeria and Africa. I wasn't going to comment, however, looking at long tracks of embezzlement by our number 1 criminals being protected by armed forces daily unknown that post political duties, they will be fully prosecuted. This situation remained unabated regardless of changes in governance. Its ungoing sadly as its synonymous to narcotics trafficking despite being caught and some faces capital punishment in some countries. Now the issue and sequential evidence had suggested that Nigerians as people cannot lead their countries effectively and progressively. All opportunities given to remedy all evil ills had all ended futile. In short, bring in a foreign entity to lead Nigerians!!! Else, this looting systems of government will not end especially in Nigeria. These leaders are hell bent in subjecting Nigeria into the league of impoverished and destitute nation despite being blessed with plethoric natural resources enough to declare Nigeria a developed country. However being black, seem to be a major factor because some African leaders have that demonic and careless attitude whilst serving their nation. The whole thing is simply barmy!

When Africa countries money is recovered these Oyinbos insist on telling us how and where to spend the funds. It is none of their business and there is no legal basis for such arrangements.
