Life with a dog is way more fulfilled than life without one. I'm a worry-wart and an over-thinker so I stress myself out a lot and having my best little furry friend reminds me to stay present, patient, and grateful. My dogs are my family too. When I was a kid, my dog was like my brother. Now that I'm older, my newer dog is like my kid and it's awesome.

I am thinking about getting another female dog for my male dog but I'm scared of the idea that they take more time to take care of them. At the same time I'm sad to see him feel lonely. What advice can you give me?
@janka482
@janka482 Жыл бұрын
@@sawsansalim2447pls look it up the internet. It may not necessarily be another dog, a dog may befriend any other pet, even a duck. If u want a female dog u may have issues when the female is in heat, so u could just get another male dog, evwn from other breed. For pets is important to be about the same size, so they can play at will. Some pets can be clumsy and unintentionally hurt the smaller one. But if the bigger pet is smart and gentle, he may also be gentle to the smaller one. U could get yourself a turtoise or a babycat. U can leave an unwashed blouse for him to have sth of you, and i don't know if u can, i have seen owners having cameras installed and talking live to their dogs. Another pet means more work to take care, but less work if both pets play together, u get more time for urself. Bless u and yr beloved dog!

It is so true how quickly they get used to even new routines. My husband has switched shifts 3 times in the past year. It took no time for the dogs to fall into new routines when he is sleeping at a different time than I am, and leaving in the middle of the night. This began only a month ago too. Even my neighbor’s dog, whom I absolutely adore, would wait for me to walk home from work at the same time everyday. My neighbor said she would go to the window and watch for me. I had no idea , until then, that other dogs watch the neighbors and their schedules too. Smart creatures, they! ❤

I have a question, not a comment. My seven year old dog suddenly became very ill and passed away while I was out of town for cancer treatment for three weeks. She was with family members while I was gone. I have felt very guilty ever since and have wondered if she was wondering why I wasn't there to help her. Was she thinking in had abandoned her? Was she sad that I wasn't there to help her? My heart still breaks. I had no idea when I left town that I'd never see her again. I still have so much grief over this.

Our dogs love us unconditionally. We are their world. While they sit and wait for us they don’t think abandonment. They think of the moment of reuniting. Dogs do not know the meaning of not being loyal. Dogs only know the meaning of being completely loyal. That is why your dog never felt abandoned. Your dog knew you were coming home, and was waiting for that moment, but unfortunately your friend was called home before you were able to come back. Your dog was not under stress for abandonment just missing you and hoping that you would come cuddle.

I still remember my beloved Ginger. Boxer mix. My stepfather and I with Ginger was walking the back 40 of his farm. Ginger was just happy as could be. She suddenly stopped and pointed. Never saw that behavior before. As we walked up to the dog a Buck (Deer) spoked up and ran away. Ginger did a 180 and ran towards me. She hid behind me. As soon as she was behind me. She began barking and growl to a level I never heard before. I never laughed so hard in my life. I praised her for twenty minutes.

Since I'm retired and a stay at home dog lover, based on a set daily routine, she knows (to the nearest 15 minutes) when it's time for dinner, time for computer time and bedtime. But spontaneous activities like going for walks, grooming time or going to the vet time, she would watch once i grab her leash, it's field trip time.

I had a cam on my poodle/sheepdog mix while I worked when she was younger. I crate trained her then I left the crate door open she would still settle in her crate to sleep eventually she moved to the couch until the kids got home from school. Id be home within an hour after that. Didn't seem like she had anxiety but she always 100% was excited to see them and me when we got home. If she ever got nervous she would run into her crate as a safe space.

I always reassure him I'll be back and I love him, and leave him in his kennel. I'm gone for about 2 hours,@ the 1st thing I do is greet him and let him out of kennel when I get home. Dogs have a very good sense of time. When my husband retired and was home with our Holly, he said she was fine all day. But when it got to be about 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon, the time I usually returned home from work, if I was later that day, she would start pacing and crying. There was nothing he could do to console her. Now I'm retired and home most days. She is a rescued little 15 lb terrier.

I was dog-sitting for a week, and the dog, which knows me well, has a routine due to stomach issues. Dinner at 5pm, and no car travel for 2 hours after food. One day we fed the dog at 4.45pm to enable us to go out for a drive to a favoured spot. The next afternoon and the following one, the dog slept like a log before suddenly waking up at 4.43pm and harrumphing for food!

I found that setting up my couch so my Chihuahua can look out the window when I’m gone helps a lot. Or, get a second dog if you’re going to be gone more than an hour. Please don’t crate dogs alone all day or leave them without some kind of stimulation. Having a family member or friend break up the time away helps a lot too. ❤

DO NOT get a second dog if you don't know what you're doing. Many owners misconceptions of having another dog to accompany the initial dog. More often than not, it will create hierarchy and jealousy issues.

I sometimes look after a toy poodle when his people are away. I've never known such an emotional dog. Super demanding and super affectionate. Toys are as dependent as you'd expect from anyone who is between two and ten times smaller than their peers. It's a scary world out there for a tiny dog. They need a close connection with a large ape to feel safe. Our old mutt would wait patiently if I tied her up outside a supermarket. I couldn't even imagine doing that with the little poodle - he would have screamed blue murder until I returned. He even gets worried if I go into an open shop where he can see me. A toy poodle's idea of bliss is to joined at the hip with you at all times ... until they decide they want quiet me-time, which you disturb at your peril lol

Now I find some of this a little out there. I have spent more time with dogs since I was a baby till now at 60. I have had a lot of dogs from hunting dogs, herd dogs, and mixed breed house pets to my current King Charles Cavalier Spaniels. My Australian cattle dogs you could watch them process their thoughts (brilliant animals) .My beagles were not as bright but made that up with loving loyalty. The coonhounds would pass their time with little interest in attention until the first fall night they wanted to be out on the trail of raccoon. Then, by the first snow, the interest passed until a January thaw and back to the woods. My Cavaliers seem to know what I'm going to do before I do. They certainly seem to have a better grasp of time. Each dog that has been in my life has had their own personality and quirks. I first and foremost allow them to be dogs. Dogs hate coustems, bandana, hats or other things that humans seem to feel compelled to make them do. We must remember they have pack instinct and view their human as the head of the pack and with that comes our responsibility. We should never leave them alone without a old tee-shirt or other artical of clothing that has not been laundered where they like to sleep. It gives them comfort to have our scent in lue of our personal attention.

I dont train my dog nephew. I let it be a dog and live its life naturally. I give or make fresh meals and all natural. He's not my toy or my accessory. I dont try to dominate him. I work from home so i can tell when he wants to go out and can observe him fully. When we are out, I let him lead by his nose and don't pull him away from his activity. We play ball until he is tired and lays down at 2- 3 times. I adjust to him - he loves me very much and i love him too. Dogs and children have to be full time commitments otherwise don't have them. I think it's fine to make a big deal of them when you return. That is how dogs greet other pack members. It's natural. It's when you are leaving that you don't make a big deal of it. Just act like all is fine, and it should help to calm them. But a big greeting when you get home is a good thing and what they need.

I have a 20 year old chihuahua and she is so patient and loving now but as a younger dog much more aggressive towards dogs from fear and would hide from humans . I just think about how she feels now when i’m not home or around her and there’s no one or other animals how she is still just there / here all the time. all the while long. Remember, dogs age about 5 to 7 years per human year so that reflects in hours. What they see between dawn and dusk could be 36 hours to our 12… make sense? I don’t think dogs “worry” about their next meal… their lives are based on human habits & their reactions to the humans actions. No one knows what dog’s think - and they definitely don’t think what we think they think.

Man.... I'm having the hardest time with my Border Collie. She's in a family home but she's primarily mine, not my families. She's a super anxious dog that's really calm when it's just us but when I work it breaks her heart. I feel like every time I come home my baby has a broken heart and idk what to do about it.

Hi, I give my girl, 1 hour before I go to work Bach anxiety/ stress drops, it seems to help. In the beginning she lays in front of the door, howling, whining, I feel for her and I hate to leave her, but I have to earn doggie treats and so on. She is a rescue and has been through a lot.Hope this helps

I would like to add that many dogs are only content when the 'pack' (= dog plus close humans) is complete. If only one of us goes shopping for an hour, doggy sits in the porch waiting for his/her return and wouldn't even go for a walk with the other.

I find with Miska that yes I know she doesn’t like it when I leave her at home… I tell my dogs where I’m going and then I’ll be home soon.. I also tell them why I can’t take them, even though they may not understand.. I take her with me as much as possible but she’s a husky so if it’s a hot day, I do not like to take her.. but thank you for sharing this video cause I think it’s very right on. I’m very cute about how are for babies at when we leave them..❤❤❤❤❤❤ I have a chair in my kitchen at the window, and every so often Miska will get up on the chair and just look outside. She also will get up on the chair when she notices. My car comes in the driveway.

We are retired and at home all day. We have a very jealous dog. I am not allowed to touch or talk to my wfe and vice versa, else Skeeter would bark loudly and bounce around until we quit. All day long, 10 minutes before meal time she runs out of the living room toward the kitchen, repeatedly until we follow her to the kitchen. At bedtime (same time each day) she leaves the living room and sets in the doorway to the bedroom, waiting for us. We just do what we are told.

When I'm leaving the house, I speak to my dog, that I'm going to shop and be right back, if I'm going out for a longer time, I say that to him, and mostly he crawls into my bed. And have a good sleep. And he knows, when I get back, he always gets a treat. Works every time. And my dog is an adopted one. He knows he is safe here.
