But Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are not regions of England. The French understood that and that´s why they were confused by the question. They thought you meant counties of England.

Al Murray has a good routine about this. IIRC it starts with a Man. City fan in a bar who hates the Man Utd fan next to him until someone from Liverpool walks in, then the two Mancunians become best friends and both hate the Liverpudlian. Then a Yorkshireman comes in and the three Lancastrians gang up on the Yorkie. Then a southerner comes in and they four northerners agree how much they hate southerners. Then a Scotsman walks in and they four Englishmen join forces against the Scot. Then a Frenchman comes in all the Britons are united in their hatred for him!

Disconnected Roamer No, they’re not. The United Kingdom was originally brought about by two independent kingdoms merging. Kingdoms eventually morphed into what we today call nation states. England alone has a lot of regional dialects and accents that have existed for hundreds of years. To say the southern English accents are "THE BRITISH ACCENTS" is insulting to the rest of the UK and shows just how much you lack knowledge about England and the rest of the UK.

Ew, nobody now-a-days in France eat frogs leg, that’s disgusting :p Some people eat snails, it’s not very popular, most people only eat it occasionally in fancy restaurants. Horse meat is normal. I don’t like it, and not many of my friends and family do either, but it is eaten all around North America, Asia, and Europe. Sorry if you have not seen, but many and I mean MANY people in these continents buy and eat it. In modern days (currently) horse meat is also usually eaten at restaurants.
