I actually think security is fine right now. There's so many decks that took out bombs for trainings, and in addition to the abundance of effects that trash security for low cost (for better or for worse) so getting wiped isn't always as common as it used to be.

Yeah outside of Sec Con/yellow, where Security is their shtick, the most you may see is Crimson Blaze in red, Ultimate Flare in Black or like an Ice Wall in blue. Levia does have Biting Crush, but most other purple I don't really see many if any security bomb type options. With Mem Boosts, Trainings and soon, Scramble cards, there's just not much space for a sec bomb unless you want to sacrifice a card or two that can give your deck more consistency.

Personally, I think if they removed security effects on option cards, I’m sure most of them would stop getting played. I specifically did not play Glorious Burst in my 1.5 Shine deck because of this exact reason even though it was a great removal card. You’re definitely sleeping on Anubis. That deck completely walled so many decks. The fact that it could spam out so many bodies turn 3 with Raid/Retaliation/Blocker was just ridiculous. The format is a lot more healthy now. And luckily security control isn’t nearly as strong as it used to be, even though it just won worlds, due to most decks having ways to get additional security checks, spam extra bodies, trash security, and having protection.

Welcome back to the game. The number of decks now that are at least playable (not all competitive but have a value engine that can win) are amazing. I'm up to like 30+ decks now. The mechanics and game structure make it one of the best 1v1 games out there.

I also took a break during BT9-BT11, but it was because I really didn't like how the meta was so OTK focused without interactivity. Then I came back for Aces and I feel like there's a lot more options with how you can handle countering different strategies now.

I would love for them to explore the choice restricts more cuz as an ex Vanguard player was one of the best parts of that game. No feelings of u cant play the card just not abuse it I love that idea in games like Digimon. (edited for ease of reading)

For me xross heart not really as bad as tier 0 deck back than. I mean yeah they can rush you security at any time but they relaying on they're tamer. And back than even though not so much tamer removel i think some deck still have some to counter it like green argo who can stun tamer, than just swing and OTK. I probably more concern about power creap now day, like if they not make generically to good so people can abuse it i am okey about that.

It's crazy to me to learn you were getting so much direct hate. I know that would have super messed with me too. You raise a lot of good points. I agree security is the strongest part of the game, and the "activate main" security effects were definitely not thought of with tcg players in mind. The game, however, does feel like it's in an incredible healthy point again following the March banlist. Very very glad you're back. One of the content goats and best players we've had. Looking forward too seeing you at more events and more content.

0:30 unironically had I started digimon earlier I would've dropped the game at BT9 too, often I wish the whole expansion was banned. Even though there's a few decks that I find really annoying, I feel very optimistic about the game's future. I just hope Bandai outright STOPS making hide-in-raising otk decks or decks that do everything like Shine, Fenri, full power beelz and mirage to some extent

Nice vid. I will say though, one of the reasons digimon is my favorite tcg is because of the amount of variance that comes with the security mechanic. I play games in general so that I can have fun playing them, even while I'm losing, and lemme tell you, there's nothing more fun in digimon than the feeling you get when you're loosing playing something like Mastemon, and you're opponent swings into your security right into a chaos deg, which is just the card you needed to help turn things around. It's because of stuff like that that the game almost never feels one-sided to me (though there are some rare exceptions), unlike in games like Yu-Gi-Oh where you can pretty much tell who's going to win or lose based on the end of the first turn. .....fuck dedicated security control decks though, lol.

I think what's gotten me recently with Digimon is that it feels like skill expression gets less relevant every set, and it's become more rock paper scissors.

I agree. The memory system felt less and less improtant or expressive because so many decks just did their thing or had ways to get around getting choked

Disagree, but that's fine. There are definitely Doomed matchups but more often than not the better player is more likely to win in the modern game than any time in the past 3 years.

@@moxmoonstone we'll see post banlist, but before hand the amount of games I've lost to garuru shenanigans etc made me stay away after nats. Getting high rolled in this game feels terrible because there is nothing you can do about it lol
