my son is good with school - except he had high anxiety because they failed to mention that they were assigning all college prep classes to him and TONS of homework - which he can't handle. ugh! so he went into huge defense mode and i couldn't get him to go back to school -- a new psychologist came on board at the school and interviewed him and re-assessed him to be on an IEP versus a 504plan.... consequently David became very connected to this school psychologist. She was amazing. He saw her for about 4 weeks once a week... It came time to go back to school and he was a changed kid! The whole family was happy, excited and looking forward to seeing him thrive! --- then boom! -- she met him in the morning of his first day back after that long break and proceeded to pass him off to a different psychologist, whom he didn't know and had no relationship with. David, needless to say, felt betrayed and like he was just another case, when he truly felt she was his friend and cared about him. nope. just another case. He was devastated and lost ALL his confidence and here we are again back at home. -- He has slowly gotten better and has realized that people make mistakes and he said he has grown up during this process. He is standing more on his own two feet and decided to make this a positive lesson, -- and realized that this woman had just lost her father in law and probably didn't realize what she was doing or he was sensing her feelings (he is very intuitive and sensitive to everyone!) -- and felt what she was going through on top of what she did. All in all, he is headed back to school again, all his major classes have been swaped out for "basic" -- where they do ALL assignments in class, no homework -- and he seems to be headed back in the right direction. He also said that he came to the conclusion that he should take it one day at a time and never again over think the big picture -- years in advance but live in today. My amazing boy! :D

Trying to understand the problem seems impossible sometimes. Most times my son will say "I don't know, if I knew I would fix it" He also gets overwhelmed by too many questions

Danny you are so insightful and I love it! I need help though - 3rd school school is trying trying to understand the route issue which I think may be sensory, but I need to snapshot your guidance to get her a 'past go'! I love your analogy 'in order to be comfortable is to be uncomfortable first!'. I would love to Franchise you guidance in the UK!!

Thank god for you! I have an 11 year old with aspergers and he stopped going into school after a major breakdown that took 9 months to get over. Actually he's never been the same since. He's now started high school but meltdowns every morning and doesn't sleep due to the anxiety. He has support from curriculum support here in the UK. He hates other kids and he can't deal with all the sensory issues. We have removed him from certain parts of the curriculum and he gets time out in the day. He's on sleep medication cause he wants to be up all night. Medication for anxiety but his meltdowns are getting more and more aggressive. Will school every become OK for him. My daughter is 20 and also has aspergers and is now at university in Edinburgh but she can only manage the actual teaching part of the day. She returns to her room and that's it she wont go out. Can it? Does it? Get better

@@gregmishler798 just a quick update as I posted this some years ago. My son, school became way too much and so he was homeschooled with local authority funding. Not great for socialisation but fantastic for his mental health! He’s now finishing A levels and looking at pursuing maths at University. Since removal from school we’ve had no meltdown’s and no medication needed. Removal from school was the best thing in my sons case but if you are in the UK you need to remain on register with the school ( they will try to get you to remove your child from the register DONT.!) stay on register and fight for tutoring support and online learning. My son is finally ok but it was a hard fought battle. Good luck with your child I know it’s not easy but it can and will get better xx

I can't have female teachers. Female voices are like chalkboard scraping sounds and I've only had one lady who's voice was okay
