@@crom29a Hi. Here is the reply from bbtalkin about these questions. "Surf hat is not adjustable. Only one size I’m afraid. Cap and sports headset are adjustable. The firmware can be found on our site. Mutating should already be on. Hold + and - to mute your device. This means the sound will be cut off from your mic. You can’t mute others from distance. You need to push the buttons there."

@@KookProofActivityCenter Thank You. That's a dissapointing reply from Bbtalkin. We already know the surf hat is non-adjustable and that the mic mute function exists. We were looking for enhancements to these products. Especially some sort of audible 'beep' when activating the mute. At the moment you have to take the headset off to visually confirm the mic is muted. Thanks for your efforts though and for getting back to me. 👍

Is it possible to connect this 2 pack to another 2 pack? So that 3/4 ppl can be talking together?

You can connect up to 6 radios. But the range becomes a lot smaller. 3-4 is ok but the conversation gets complicated as everyone can talk and hear at the same time so it requires some discipline to use it correctly. If it's just for a fun ride it can be used without a problem. For teaching, it will be complicated.

I have been thinking of getting a regular marine radio - bulkier of course. I know little about these - do they operate on marine frequencies or only with paired system? Are there any small marine radios kiteboarders use?

This is a Bluetooth system. it works as a telephone and not as a walkie-talkie or VHF radio. What is the intended use? if it's to call for rescue then get a VHF radio. if it's to talk to friends or get tips while riding this is the best solution. but I'll show the usage of this in the next video.

I'd like to see: 1) How to connect with mobile phones? 2) How to mute the mic but still be able to hear the other party? 3) Range test in practical conditions. eg: between 2 Kite surfers. How far apart can they get and still chat? 4) Any other comparable products by other manufacturers? Cheers 👍

1) I’ll put it in when I make the test reviews. 2) didn’t find a way. I just push the mic away from me. But cool point to put on the review. 3 ) 2 systems allows for approx 1km apart as long as there is line of sight. I have for long this system and tested it a lot of times

@@KookProofActivityCenter Hey I just figured out a way for 2) !! Press Volume + and - together. The Bluetooth light flashes rapidly and the mic is muted. Sadly there's no beep or sound to let you know you've activated mute. You have to check the light which means taking your hat / helmet / cap off. Would be good if they added that in a firmware update at some stage. Cheers. 🤙

Great tool for teaching but unfortunately their lifespan is extremely small for that price. I am a moderate user, wash them after every session and still the units fall apart in 1-2 years. Sad.

I still have some of the first generation working without any problem. Those are 4-5 years old already. But maintenance and care help to make them last longer

I have several complaints: 1) The HELMET PAD HEADSET is TERRIBLE. The cable is TOO SHORT! 2) The surf hat is SO TIGHT! Why didn't they have provisions to adjust it for people who have bigger heads! SUCH POORLY designed product! 3) Why did they complicate the installation of the units to the hats? Why not a simple clamp on like a VELCRO strap? POORLY DESIGNED product! 4) The website is SO CONFUSING. I bought a set for KITESURFING and it ONLY had 1 surf hat and 1 helmet set!! RIDICULOUS!! I REGRET BUYING THIS GARBAGE.

I agree with 2) absolutely. The surf hat needs to be adjustable. Maybe @Kook Proof Activity Center can pass that feedback on to Bbtalkin? It wont help us but might save some others a few headaches :)

And I'll love to see as many tests as possible. And tips for longevity. Had some problems in the beginning and seen lots of people giving up on using them. But mine are working great and I have some way to go around the problems.

I'll post my findings as i have these for a long time. So I'll compare it also with the differences. There are a few I noticed already.

@@kiteaust what do you mean? We use it for teaching for more than 4 years now. You just need to take proper care of the equipment after the use, but it works very well. The problems you may have are with the mics, but they usually last for months or years, and are cheap and easy to change. I teach here in Brazil and my bbtalking is almost every day in the water for u 9 months a year, at least. I'm just looking for extra tips on equipment care, coz right now it is very hard and expensive to buy imported stuff here.

I use them for a long time and no major problems. Maintenance however is very important and making that easy also. I thought one of the black ones was not working but I tested it again and it still is. I have a few maintenance tips to improve longevity that I’ll put in the next vídeos. It has limitations but it’s a great tool to improve lesson quality specially for more advance lessons.

There's also the charging problem, most people do not pay attention to the recommendations and specifications. And, at the end, it's a electronic device on salt water and abusive impact, I am actually impressed it works as well as it does and for as long as it does.
