This video is still the best one I’ve found, concerning a bad bearing in my car. Even though The video is seven years old no one has been able to do such a simple video. Yup, that is definitely the noise. And, also the fact that when you sway to the right or left, the roar increases or diminishes. In my situation, bearing left, it gets louder, bearing right, the noise decreases. Excellent video! Thanks
@DarkAttack142 ай бұрын
You can use that to determine which wheel bearing is failing. If you turn left and the noise gets worse it's your right side bearing, if you turn right and the noise gets worse it's your left side bearing. The weight transfer changes which bearing takes more load

I was in debate over whether the noise on my crown vic was related to a bad differential or the drivers side wheel bearing. The noise in this video is practically a carbon copy of what I’m hearing, being a deep hum that increases in pitch relative to speed, though mine is MUCH more faint than this. Wheel bearing area began spewing axle grease so now im certain I’ll need a new wheel bearing and a new hub seal. The change in sound is more from the change in lateral loading than weight relief. Sometimes one side of the race gets started with pitting and goes to heck while the other race stays relatively smooth, hence the difference in sound pushing right and left. Excellent video. Yes I felt the same when I went to the autoshop and the guy said it was the bearing. I was driving with this noise for like 4 months

Boom! Nailed it. I was thinking it was noisy tires or maybe a bad alignment on my car but this makes sense. Thank you!

Uzi Movie the left and right can confuse you; the left can sounds as if it's the right and the right can sounds as if it's the left.

Mine is in connection with acceleration, everything else is the same though, with the exception that it only growls when I'm on the gas.

Thank you... We were about to be charged a bunch of money ....and come to find out..... it's just the bearing ♥ So happy we found your video ♥

iirc, when my roommate's bearings kept going bad we would also notice the vehicle slowing down at low speeds (or premature deceleration?). Hard to explain, but definitely noticed the vehicle slowing down on it's own when it wasn't supposed to. Instead of gliding like normal until putting pressure on the brake to stop. Once this gets really bad it WILL start smoking and has the potential to catch fire due to metal-on-metal friction. Which is very hard to cool down with water because it IS metal which is hot and it's hard to actually get water to the source of the heat. Not to mention, a drastic change in temperature w cold water hitting hot metal has the potential to cause even more damage (temp shift cracking of metal, etc) when this happens. My advice if it gets really bad. Don't drive it! Get it fixed asap. Better than it catching fire or causing more damage which will cost much more money.
