Hi Doctor: A week ago I was at the audiologist office and after a number of tests, she prescribed me a pair of hearing aids with a quote of $4800, which will be fitted on me a week later. Later at home, I Googled and found the online price of exactly the same hearing aids to be $3200. Is this normal, or am I getting scammed? Is the $1600 difference quite customary and necessary to cover the service to be provided by the audiologist in the weeks/months afterwards?

What would you suggest someone major in if they don’t have an SLP degree???

I have an external response, but here it is. Based on the foundations mentioned, ie A&P, Mechanical Engineering, etc. Major in something to get the commonly requested prereqs done while graduating with something that gives you a skill for your degree. For example, Exercise Physiology (Likely will require A&P) with a Personal Trainer certificate + Audiology prerequisites like "Introduction to Audiology" will provide you a sort of minor or cognate along with skills to actually obtain a decent job if AuD school is delayed. Sorry it took 7 months for any reply! Good Luck!

last time i went to polyclinic a dr said maybe you got selective hearing ??!! like wth you didn’t do a single test and just assume that i didn’t want to listen to my parents nag? now i’m in my late 20s and still have problems with my right ear even with irrigation done a few times, but am scared to be made fun of again

In US States, audiologists can prescribe over the counter medication but if such person wants to prescribe antibacterial medication or do minor ear surgeries(allowed in Arizona) then such person may enroll also in Naturopathic Medicine schools because US state laws allow Naturopathic Doctors to prescribe prescription drugs while Arizona & British Columbia allows them to do minor surgery too. If such AuD-ND wants to add surgery service in their clinic, they also need to hire a Certified Nurse Anesthetist who is authorized to administer anesthesia.😅 There's so much loopholes in US & slightly in Canada, if you don't want to do the MD route+ENT residency+Otology fellowship. At least they have a shortcut option and budget friendly too.

If the Auto Industry asked you to park outside your neighbor's house at night and HOOONKK HOOONKK would you? Would you do it day after day after day after day? Then please lock your vehicle Quietly.... No Honk. ... Light Flash Only.... so people can sleep at night and have peace during the day. The Light Flash Signal confirms your car is locked and armed. You do not need the HONK. The Auto Industry Really screwed up with this technology. They need to GET RID OF THE HONK. Thank you.
