Today I'm going to explain what childbirth pain feels like, exactly, in a way that even MEN CAN UNDERSTAND.
I am describing the ACTIVE STATE OF LABOR after it's gone way beyond that feeling of really bad menstrual cramps.
For me, this was the HARDEST PART OF LABOR.
I don't hold anything back in this video, as I think it's important to share the honest truth about WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO HAVE A BABY.
Candidly, it was the most painful experience of my life, but for me, IT WAS WORTH IT.
Here's another EXCELLENT, MORE DETAILED EXPLANATION of the entire pain process of childbirth from beginning to end from DontTrustTheRabbit:
• How painful is LABOUR?
YOUR EXPERIENCE MAY BE DIFFERENT. If it was, please share how it felt to you in the comments below.
****CHILDBIRTH DEMO****
This is a fantastic demonstration by KZbinr Liz Chalmers on how the cervix thins and dilates during labor using a balloon and a ping-pong ball:

Yeah, pretty much. Before giving birth, I bought into all the natural child birth, "if you prepare enough you can breath through it" and "it isn't painful, it's intense" crap. Maybe that's true for some women. But for me, it was excruciating. I couldn't even imagine pain like that until I gave birth - nothing I've felt before or after even remotely comes close to being that painful. Didn't feel so much like cutting to me, rather slowly being ripped apart from the inside out... and I got a third degree tear, so in a way, I was literally being ripped apart, from the inside out.

Hi Diane, thanks for your bold & brave honesty. It's true, no one ever tells you the truth and now I know. Glad I won't be having kids, ever. Much respect to all the brave women who have children...especially multiples! I can't believe my sister had 3 kids! She got married at 19 and started having kids at 20. Now she's 32 and sometimes says she wants more! She never complained about labor pains and says if we were living in a distopian society, her job would be to have kids, like in The Giver. Great video, love the background music and your editing skills. The sound effects made the images of birth come alive in my head.

This is so far from how I’d describe it. It is incredibly intense and painful yes. For me it’s more like severe cramping - but across most of the body and quite crushing. But - I do feel like there’s an other-worldly quality to the pain. It’s hard to describe and not really comparable to any other experience. There’s not really any other experience of pain that has so much purpose and hope and meaning to it. If you were experiencing that level of pain because you were injured or dying it would be horrendous. But when you know you are on a mission to bring your baby into the world it just feels…different. And the best part is, when you push that baby out the pain goes from 100-0 in an instant. It just ends like magic. And they hand you the little human that you made! The rush, endorphins, the emotion, the relief , the joy is so sudden and so overwhelming. You literally sit there feeling like some kind of superhuman being. Like ‘did that just happen? Did I actually survive that?!’. It’s the best feeling in the world.

It was more like having my kidneys being squished by a vice grip and the pain is all over from back to front! Nauseous and feels like tie going to pass out at the same time for hours on in never ending! I thought for sure I was going to die! I gave birth 4 times 2 were natural with no pain meds two with an epidural. I never understood the screaming. I could barely talk during labor it made it hurt worse I had to just go inside myself and concentrate with my first natural the second was worse! I couldn’t get the meditation I needed to get through it. I was up down uo them down! As bad as it hurt though I was happy for the experience and feeling accomplished. I don’t know why because I don’t feel u need to go through the pain to feel accomplished there is just something about doing it that feels so empowering. Love to all woman, we are stronger in numbers and more bountiful when we support and are there for one another. Xoxoxo

Okay, I couldn't finish the rest of this video because it's simply not true or practical. Number one, childbirth pain is subjective as there are many factors that contribute to one's perception of pain and all women don't feel their surges in the same area and where they feel the pain may change throughout different points of their labor. When I ask my clients where and how they're feeling their surges, the answer is never the same. Secondly, how many people have had their abdomen sliced and their skin peeled back without anesthesia and lived to talk about it? Not many, so I hardly find this a practical description for men or women.

There is so much power in the mind! I used Hypnobabies with my 2nd & 3rd babies and peacefully had both un-medicated (one of those babies being 9lbs 10oz) after my first birth did not go well using an epidural and ended in a c-section. And so I would disagree, through training the brain I was able to use hypno-anesthesia and only felt pressure, not pain. ❤

You make it sound like you've experienced the slicing and peeling thing, but that sounds implausible. I want to know how it compares to more realistic experiences. I'm having my first baby in June. The most painful thing I have ever experienced was shingles. A broken bone was about 75% as painful as that. I know it's all subjective, but I'm curious and I want to know how it compares to a realistic and common experience. I wouldn't care if you said it hurts 10 times as much as a second degree burn or whatever, I just need a relatable reference point. I've never had my skin sliced and peeled like that, so I don't know.

You're so cute Diane. That wasn't what it was like for me. Just at the very end when his head was coming out and they tried to lube it and ripped me a little. But otherwise it was probably the least uncomfortable part of the pregnancy and post pregnancy experience. I didn't mind childbirth. I had no drugs and it only took 3 hours from 2cm when I arrived at the old school hospital in Puerto Rico to birth. Not that they even offered drugs anyway...haha It wasn't exactly pleasant but it wasn't horrible either. I think a C-section where they ACTUALLY slice open your body up would be way worse. Our bodies are made for it. Good luck on your race to a million. I've subscribed!

With second it was so quick that yes it was painful but by the time I wanted something for the pain it was time to push. I now just gave birth to my third and the pain was beyond anything I remembered or imagined. It seemed to go on and on and on... I still managed to make it to the end without epidural but that's because I had passed the stage. I actually asked the Dr to just rip out that baby i was willing to deal with the consequences later... LoL! It seems to me like had the labour not been so long I would have managed. It just this seemed to drag and so I sort of lost the will to fight. I had nothing left in the tank but still needed to keep going because well, baby was on hia way regardless. I definitely am about telling friends to take the epidural now. LOL!

The problem with your explanation is that if you've never felt what a knife inserted 3 inches deep one way then another, it doesn't help explain. It's like saying something tastes like dog food or dirt if you've never ate dog food or dirt. Having never had children. Give me something to compare it to that most people, men, women have experienced like an unmedicated tooth abscess....not that's pain. So give us a comparison of something real,,,,this was funny though!

Sweetie, by the time you’re ready to have a baby, medicine will be much more advanced. If you’re 10, it could be another 20 years before you go down that road. Don’t fret over the future. Keep a healthy lifestyle, deep breaths when you’re stressed and go watch a fun cartoon!

If someone is a first time mom, shouldn't they choose not to take the epidural? just to experience what child birth feels like and how their own mother felt while delivering them? then after the first baby , I think women should take it.
@pricesymonej
@pricesymonej 2 жыл бұрын
I agree, second time mom here and thats spot on. I labored the entire time without medicine and only got some mild medicine to push. with my first I was begging fora full epidural at 5 cm. this time I was forced to wait until 9 cm bcuz things had gone so quickly and it was too late for the real medicine by the time they got the syringe in my back. so yeah, I definitely agree with your observation here. For the first baby, mamas should not be too hard on themselves and get the epidural when they need it. for the second, since the labors tend to be much much quicker (but also more painful bcuz of this) try to stick it out and deliver with as little assistance as possible. the sense of accomplishment is amazing and to feel your body process through the different stages of child birth is so intimate and primal, you really connect with yourself. I just delivered my second 6 days ago. If I have another, I don't want any medicine, maybe just some gas and the light stuff. I can do it and so can all the other mamas out there.

Why do you have to make childbirth sound like a war, if there’s any chance to lessen that extreme pain, just exactly why should anyone refuse it? Just for the experience? Is it fun feeling intense pain?

What a horrible video. I watched the first minute and knew this was a NEGATIVE outlook on childbirth and I turned it off. Women have been giving birth since the beginning of time.. WITHOUT MEDICATION or PAIN KILLERS. With healthy knowledge about the birthing process and preparing yourself mentally, you can have an all natural birth. These type of videos hinder a healthy mind, which in turn creates a closed off body.
