I feel like everything I do, I can't prevent caries. I brush my teeth twice a day and floss as well. I've been using coconut oil as a mouth wash, because coconut is antibacterial. Tooth 15 on the occlusal surface, has a little spot on my tooth in the pit. I went to the dentist today, and she said it's a watch. So I'm guessing it's a start of a decay. How I do I stop caries from developing? I'm concerned about my teeth and wish to have better oral health.

I love coconut oil but I have researched agriculture and coconuts are a hyper bioremediator of toxins. In other words, a fungi is sprayed on the soil called aspergillus which has caused aflatoxin a class 1 carcinogen. This lab engineered fungi makes the insecticides work faster. Then they cover the soil with factory waste and the gene edited crops are planted in the soil. They sell the food products to the public and when the crops die they turn it into supplements and herbs. Cannabis is a hyer bioremediator hence the reason it's becoming legal. There is a place in hell for the people doing this to us.

Seynab Ali it’s all the SUGAR you’re eating. And other carbs. It’s as simple as that. Bacteria ferment the sugar and create acid which erodes the enamel, then dentin, then pulp.

He had to hollow out the tooth. If he hadn’t he would have missed some of the decay which means that if he would have patched it up the decay would have been trapped under and would have eaten through down into the deeper layers of the tooth which would cause more issues.

No offense I have had dentist do unnecessary procedure like a filling on my bottom molar, I had a stain and they wanted to fill it, I was very uneducated and agreed because of the guilt dentist make you feel, I regret getting the filling because I didnt need it, i still have picture of the stain. I could of got a simple fluoride treatment or something but no I'm 13 and my mom put me on mass health so I went to bad dentist. I also have aspergers and the dentist makes me have meltdowns so I have to go in with my mother. I hate how dentist rush to get thing filled and not think about financial situation, like I probaly couldnt go to someone like you because of my insurance. This is how bad dentist target poor people and do unnecessary procedures on them and dont educate them about their teeth or teeth in general. After I got it filled my dentist gave me no advice on how to keep my oral hygiene healthy and prevent the decay from happening again. Some dentist are just useless or they cause more damage

@bucket ofwater the dentist will have to give it to you. If you have bad insurance good luck trying to get that. But if you are okay financially you can get it but it depends on how deep your cavity is. If it was deep and past the enamel and into the dentin like the one the video you will have to get it drilled but if it is just on the enamel you can reverse the cavity by cutting out lots of sugar and lots of acid, so I suggest only drinking water and not eating too much fruit unless bananas until the cavity has fully healed. Also just have good basic oral hygiene and you'll be fine and yes that includes flossing and mouthwash. If you choose to eat lots of sugary foods and acidic drinks, I reccomend washing and rinsing your mouth out with water or mouthwash at least 5 times.( sorry for responding late)

These dentists just can't wait to drill away your tooth. Put silver diamine flouride (SDF) on it, if it is a decay it will turn black. And it will arrest the decay area strengthen it, if you don't like the stain, then put a filling on it to cover it up. No drilling.

I have a funny story. I went to my middle school dentist checkup thing and she said I may have cavities. I went to my actual dentist and he said that they were just stains despite looking like cavities. A lot of that stain is gone now, but I am still worried about it regardless. I don't want to have any of my teeth removed.

Long story short, I went to the DMV and was told I didn't need glasses at all. Now I have a tooth abscess and I'm told I need two teeth pulled and not just the one. If I buy a years insurance I can save 40% on all my dental work for the year. I can just tell I'm being scammed. But they already fried my brain with "free" xrays and I can't get a copy. I learned that these medical groups are using under trained medical personnel to do work, also in the ER. This was told to me by a retired oral surgeon.

You talk about removing the soft layers of the tooth in order to prevent compromising the rest of the tooth. I consider this to be similar to an infection and or cancer in that you have to get it all or you wasted your time. Why do we not have something to to turn that soft area into healthy tooth similar to antibiotics. Or is a cavity more similar to cancer in that we don't really have a good answer?

Fresh decay that has initially penetrated enamel will often hurt to sugar. The younger you are the more this happens. If the pain continues after the stimulus (sugar, hot ,cold) is gone, there maybe other problems. If the pain goes away, the problem is still there. It may come back in weeks or months ,but it is always worse. Palin in your mouth is a sign to see your dentist.
