Every time I watch one of your epic creations I am blown away. How do you do it? Most people probably do not realize that the average person spends 40 hours to edit 15 min of video. But you my dear not only produce the content, but also create the music (compose, direct, sing, play, and edit) as well as create the narration and story board. I suspect you put in 80 hours or more to produce 20 minutes of pure joy (which is why I think you all are 6-8 months behind on your video releases verses real time. And I dare say that you are no where getting paid near what you are worth for your creativity. We are seeing genius at work and get to see the results practically all for free. No where else have I seen such craftmanship and seamanship as the two of you bring to the table every week. Thank you for another magnificent peace of work. Bravo!!!

Michael, this is an INCREDIBLY kind comment and truly made me so so happy to read. Thank you so, so much! I definitely spend much less than 80 hours on these (otherwise it’d be impossible to produce one every week) but I do have a full time work schedule (40 plus hours per week) when I combine filming, editing, and EMAILS which are a hugeeee time demand too haha. Thank you so much for recognizing and commenting on the work, it makes me so happy. We get so many comments from people who say we have a dream life and are so lucky. We do have a dream life, and we are REALLY lucky, but we’re not on some kind of ‘perpetual holiday’ either. I hope you’re doing well Michael, thanks for making my day with this comment. -Maya

Aladino is surprisingly calm for a man whose wife just spontaneously splits into five identical, ambient-techno-beat-harmonizing sirens. He’s just over there like, “She’s doing it again. We’re gonna need more pasta.”

As a fellow Vancouverite I’m enjoying your adventure. The “random” stop for a musical interlude, the well constructed prose/poetry, mixed with pastoral views...mesmerizing. I met Leonard Cohen in 1971 in Vancouver, at a Rolling Stones concert. He was just walking thru the crowds during a break. The album “Songs of Love and Hate” had just come out, and I was immersed in his poetry books...and at 17 I just randomly ran into my “idol”. We talked a bit. I have no idea what was said, but I realized he was just a normal person, who lived life day to day, like me. Yet he filled his life with music, writing and travel. It helped me settle into my angst filled adolescent life. 49 years later...Music, writing, travel...you are off to a wonderful start. Bless you. Warren

The author Patrick Fermour said that every traveller knows the Netherlands through the paintings of the Dutch masters (Ruisdal and Cuyp). Nature writing is so difficult, but I really think that you are onto something. That voice can travel for decades to come imo. I also loved the music at the end which has hints of Scotish-Irish-Norweigan fiddle. "Fiddle" is just folk violin. Again, you are onto something, so many thanks x

The concert pieces just get better and better. I noticed the nod to Leonard Cohen. When I passed through Montreal in about 1978 while on Mont Royal, I decided I liked the city, and because I was also a Leonard Cohen fan thought it might be nice to live there for a while. In 1980 I got the chance, moved there, renovated a studio in Old Montreal. I wandered around and thought about Cohen and got some ideas on places that might be in the song Suzanne. Then I was working a movie and driving around the writer I mentioned this. Well, he'd known Cohen and Suzanne Verdal back in the day. I was completely wrong. I think my basic premise was that all these places couldn't be in my world - even if I was in Montreal. Nope, everything was in Old Montreal, just a few blocks from where I was living, and some were places I'd already seen the magic in. After that I changed my premise: I'd live inside the poem where ever it was or where ever I was. Of course you and Aladino are already doing this.
