Absolutely nothing. The history of the NFL is filled with QB who had great NCAA careers and then just did nothing as pros. We'll find out if McCarthy is a good pro QB when we find out.

Winning in college doesn't matter, but if you analyze JJ from the perspective of being able to make reads in an NFL-style offense, throw the ball deep when necessary, throw off platform, make plays with his legs, and for the ball to jump off his hand, he's worthy of a top 10 pick

College wins dont mean anything. Stetson Bennett IV, A.J. McCarron are the greatest winners in CFB history.

tbf stetson hasnt had a decent amount of time of professional play to say he’s not good in the NFL but AJ McCarron and even Mac Jones are great examples of college wins don’t matter

McCarthy had “that” pass.. against the team to the south where he threaded the needle

Never had that highlight? One handed catch, turn around throw, all while being hit by Dallas Turner! Just to name one. Surrounded by talent? Not one offensive teammate in DJ’s top 50 prospects. Jayden has 2. Drake has 1. The kid is talented. He’s a first round prospect. QB2 in my opinion. But no one can predict how any of these guys are gonna adapt to the next level.

These people have the same ability to rate a quarterback as Mel Kiper did with Tom Brady - "Does not have the total package of skills for an NFL quarterback."

If it matters then Alabama and Georgia QB's should be the greatest in the league. They win all the time, but none of them are that great coz the team carries them

His off the charts . 970 winning percentage is the highest winning percentage at both the college and pro level in over a half CENTURY. Among the big 5 major colleges conferences, it is the highest winning percentage in over 70 years. He is the best and most complete QB in the draft.

It means something. Put it this way. He was the QB at Michigan. That means pressure on him to win and he did that. When asked to perform he performed. When asked to carry out a game plan that didn't make him the star, he did that. He was a leader on that team. And he was a person who cheered for everyone. Who would you rather develop into a pro QB? Maye or McCarthy? I'd pick McCarthy over Maye. Maye didn't know the pressure. He didn't perform well down the stretch (i.e. help his team win. see 7 of 9 lost down the stretch in the past two seasons). Both have talent but only one led his team to victories. That means something. It always will. Look at Tom Brady. That dude was a winner. He held himself and his teammates accountable for wining games.

He reminds me of Drew Brees in interviews with his approach and personality. I believe Sean Payton is going to love having him in Denver.

Look, fine, JJ's WL record by itself doesn't mean that much. But seriously, it's a red herring argument; NO ONE is looking at it that way. JJ played for a team that heavily emphasized the run, ball control, and defense. JJ has great arm strength, he's a very fast QB, his career completion percentage is 68.01%, and he's made a bunch of really big plays that very few QBs can make, plus he did all that before he turned 21.

What question I would have is your coach was a quarterback so did he feel he couldn't trust him to really throw? They were run heavy correct? This is just a question but it doesn't mean he can evolve into a franchise quarterback you just never know

Stephen Bennett really never got an opportunity out in LA. My suggestion for him is really try to request a trade and go somewhere where they don’t have a quarterback know

The record itself doesn't mean he's going to be good in the NFL. But having the measurables and "splash" plays doesn't either. You mean to tell me you couldn't come up with a list of those guys that didn't pan out? And neither does having both. This isn't a science, it's an art. Just remember who the GOAT is and watch the Brady 6. Sometimes the things you can't measure end up making the difference.

It’s the intangibles that will count. That record means nothing. His intangibles and where he is drafted will matter more. Elway had a laughably bad college record. Nobody remembers Mahomes’ college record. Nobody watched Allen at Wyoming. It’s about talent, intangibles and destination NFL team. Otherwise AJ McCarron and Stetson Bennett would be the GOAT’s.

Since the goal of the game is to win, it absolutely matters that he won games. If you want to argue that he’s not a good quarterback that’s one thing, but saying wins don’t matter is asinine to the sport.

These idiots would rather JJ be losing every game so he can put up empty passing stats. This discourse around him is so stupid. He had the best first half stats in the country (before Michigan went up 3 TDs and ran out the clock every game), what are we talking about here?
