The cello during the end is played and arranged by Tina Guo, who have worked with Sabaton a few times now, notably during the Wacken 2019 extravaganza. She plays on Swedish Pagans

Tina Guo also tours with the Hans Zimmer orchestra. Worth checking out their performance of Pirates of the Caribbean medley, live in Prague. On a stage full of stellar musicians, she excels with an amazing performance on the electric cello.

I'm surprised that he didn't recognize Eddie Rocha who was Mororheads tourmanager, he's the one carrying Lemmys picture. And now he's Sabatons tourmanager.

Yep, still crying every time I watch this! [I hope you'll forgive a pasted comment, it took me a while to write the first time.] I saw Sabaton perform this live in Leeds on the first night of the current tour, and it was so emotional. So let's raise a few glasses: to Birmingham, birthplace of metal; to Lemmy (RIP); to Sabaton; and to those who sacrificed so much. My wife's grandfather was one of those who lied about his age - he was only _14_ when he went to the Front! He got out alive, thanks to some amazing luck: he was wounded and taken to a field hospital, and his own father was there at the same time. He swore a lot when he saw his son, then wrote to his wife back home explaining the situation. She in turn sent evidence of their boy's age to the War Office and they pulled him out. After he came home he never spoke to anyone in the family about his experiences. Greetings from South Yorkshire - Lest We Forget.

Wow, somewhere people commented Pvt. Lewis was 12 when he entered the war. I can't imagine 14 year old boys wanting to go into the war, and than running into their father would be nuts. Happy he made it out alive, lots didn't. A lot of people didn't talk about their experiences, and I can't blame them. Though i guess as selfish as it sounds, it would be striking to hear those stories. We all know the conditions of the trenches, but to talk to someone who was there, it would be hard hitting and I don't think we all would be able to understand if they gave us the whole truth of their experience. I met a lot of WW2 soldiers from various armies, and conscription labours (an Italian man was forced to into labour positions for the Germans). The only commonality between them was they are still surprised they lived through the war. From a Finnish airplane navigator to the Italian labourer, to Hitler Youth and than to allied soldiers.

I had tears in my eyes...😢 16 years old omg...😔 Good homage to other soldiers dying face down in the mud as well as an *Homage to Motorhead* who recorded the song originally. Their videos are probably a better history 📚 lesson than what is taught in schools now! Sabaton filmed their video for "1916" in Birmingham, England and at the famous Black Country Living Museum. The visual features a cameo by Motorhead band members Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell... makes it even more special Well done SABATON ❣️

Don't forget the nod to all different rock outfits, from punk to metal. Music that cuts deep, counter cultural, yet knows the fabric and foundations. Many soldiers and bands referenced

Sabaton has pretty much evolved into a band that creates music based on history, which gets near obligated for history teachers to use in their teachings. Also a good way to keep the youth aware of metal music, but that's just a wish i have, rather than anything else ;) Yet another great video Joel :)

Lest we forget! That reminds me of another Sabaton song. Christmas Truce! The amazing thing is, Sabaton will play 1916 when the do Birmingham. They have a patriotic song for almost every country they perform in and wow what an emotional experience.

There is so much respect between the groups and this magic is what happens when you take an awesome song and give it to a group with a love of history, who are well known for their sublime music videos and their willingness to let the people be involved and you end up with this, I got my mother to watch this and her comment afterwards was this was amazing. The attention to detail, the honoring of soldiers not just from the Somme but from all wars in the past (all the soldiers in the march)then adding the motorhead fans and anyone else. then finishing it Tina's Cello hitting you in the feels as they tell the story behind 1916 and the terrible day that was the battle of the Somme. Sabaton and Motorhead blew this one out of the park. Respect.

This version is to perfect, its like opera, i like Mothorheads version better, its more raw if you understand, you can feel the soldiers in a way. This gives more like a Hollywoood movie feeling. "For me personaly" i love this song. Best regards from Norway.
