What does Oud smell like?

In this video we explore the world of Oud. We are very grateful to Josh from the Instagram channel Smellyvision ( / smellyvision ) for guiding us on this journey. We smell oud from 9 different regions:

Awesome reviews, thanks! It helps a lot to hear others views on the ouds too. I always felt the Wild Khao Yai was very resinous, dark, mulled fruit-like and i definitely get that creosote note as well as molasses, albeit less sweet. Hearing all of your thoughts made me see some other aspects of it.

Guys! you guys are only seeing 50% of oud if you haven't burned some actual oud! Burning oud chips and wearing oud oils are completely different experiences.

Yes, so I understand. I actually bought some chips when I was in Fez. They are selling oud everywhere there. I wish now that I picked up some oil!

Ex idolo - thirty three has a chinees rose according to list of notes.

Indeed, and apparently a vintage wild Chinese oud. I sampled Ex Idolo's Hirty Three and really enjoyed it, but found it very difficult to tell where the rose started and the oud began, or vice versa. I'd love to get the view of other people on this, especially those who have significant experience with ouds so they can disentangle the two and whether the rose dominates or the oud.

I hope you have had the chance since this video to try a non-soaked or ‘limited’ barn/cleanish Hindi Oud. I used to love only Cambodian but now I greatly prefer Hindi because there’s a honeyed toffee cocoa-bean quality to them that is pronounced.

Ok I have smelled the typical nasty fecal Ouds. They’re disgusting and I don’t know how anyone can wear them. If a man smelt fecal I would never go near him and i would probably call him out for smelling like he shit himself . I have heard ppl tell me that there are some beautiful nice smelling Ouds out there. Ok, well if that’s true I have never come across any. If anyone here knows of a beautiful smelling Oud perfume, please enlighten me. Because as it is now I hate Oud . I stay away from a anything with Ouds. The only beautiful Oud perfume I own is MFK Oud Satin Mood . That’s it.
