Well I think it's easy to see Courtney still loves Kareem, but as someone who recently broke up a long term relationship due to truly amazingly assholish cheating, I think it's even healthier to not even have contact at all again; I understand because I love my ex deeply even though what he did was awful and has broken me in ways I didn't even know could be. No matter how nice the connection, no matter how good the friendship, no matter how amazing the attraction and chemistry is, I think it's overall just healthier for both not to have each other around; for me at least it has definitely helped me deal with my own self-worth problems exposed by the cheating and really looking to grow as my own person after being with a neurotic control freak for so many years. I wish you health for your relationship dudes.

I feel what you are saying. So many people make it seem as though to be mature and healthy you've gotta just figure out how to be good with people that hurt or betray you. I understand why some people choose to be in "complicated relationships " situationships, but to me that stuff feels so unhealthy and like a game.

I also agree to a point. My partner and I have been together 6 years (and going) and we’ve cheated on each other hurt each other and we’ve grown to be more open and honest about all the shit we’ve dealt with. @TomRenti4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't necessarily have to be that way. After some time of healing the break up, you can go back to being friends where you enjoy the comforts of their affection AND you're there for the hard parts. Because if you put it that way, all your friends are there only to enjoy the comfort and never through the dirt, which I'm sure you don't think so
@Wezzie04 жыл бұрын
I also don't understand why people need to be friends after a romantic relationship. It's like you still want some company benefits after you have been fired or company has collapsed. This is why it's so important to create a safe space within the relationship to talk about anything that's on your mind, tell each other exactly how you feel, knowing that your partner is listening the same way he/she would like to be heard, cause if you can't talk to your partner as honestly and explicitly as you can, then you're both setting up the relationship to fail in the most basic level. The sooner you establish these dynamics, the better. That being said, I don't think cheating once is the ultimate treason, bad enough to break a great relationship up. But some of y'all aren't ready to have this conversation yet so don't @me.
@boomboom65774 жыл бұрын
Leo Del Río I agree. Cheating is bad, but one can be completely faithful and do bad things. I’ve been cheated on before-that was bad but we patched it up and lasted for a long time afterward. I’ve been in relationships where my partner was faithful, and he still did other things that hurt be irreparably. I think it’s good to have a broad view of the ways you can hurt in relationships, and cheating is not the only or even primary way.

@@boomboom6577 Exactly! To me it's even more devastating not being able to be yourself 100% around your partner, because unfortunately, often times we assimilate being compliant with being loving/understanding. Although, compromising is inevitable when you're trying to build any type of meaningful bond with another human being, you should never disregard what YOU want, YOUR aspirations, the things that are important to YOU and give YOU pleasure in life, just because your boyfriend/girlfriend is upset. The ultimate betrayal is neglecting yourself and allow your partner to feed from your lack of self-esteem, you'll only have yourself to blame. Being "ride or die" is sometimes setting boundaries so this ship don't sink the fuck to the ground in the long run lol

@you I hear what you’re saying. My problem is when you create the safe space, you have open, unbiased, calm, cool, collected dialogue. You share, they share. I always tell myself to save enough of myself for myself and place more faith in myself not to fail the most important person to me, which is MYSELF! Because, when everyone else fails me; whether intentionally or unintentionally, it is I that must again turn to that little bit of reserve that I saved for MYSELF! It's interesting to see a normal conversation between two people who used to love each other. But one thing that I always asked myself is, why are people cheating? I'm 32 years old and I have never ever cheated someone, never. If I would feel that the relationships isn't working, I would sit down with the person and say "I'm sorry but I just don't feel a connection anymore, something happened that changed my mind, am just not feeling happy, how can we change it, what should we do?". But to just turn around, cheat and be with someone else while you are already in a relationship? I don't know, I really could never do that to someone because I know how it feels.

One can see Courtney was really hurt by Kareem and has put in the work to get to a better place and doesn’t wanna mess it up. Kareem’s crying though, it is too late, he’s left someone with eternal scars. Cheating is the most selfish thing ever, especially if you have someone who care so deeply the way Courtney appears to have loved Kareem. Those crocodile tears mean nothing now.

I don't get it. They were dating for 6 years or they broke up 6 years ago? I've seen it on the other breakup videos and have been deeply confused by the wording. @TheSkinDeep which one is it?
@vonmorris59484 жыл бұрын
I’m going to assume that in this case they dated for 6 years. I say this because they stated that they were cohabitating and had a daily living routine. That would only really happen after a long term relationship. Also, Kareem said that he had to start over and basically he accustomed to being alone after so long. Lastly, they are working through their breakup like its still fresh (no more that 2 years).

How long they've known each other. SInce they first met till this session.
@TheSkinDeep4 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for commenting, 6 years represent the amount of time the participants have known each other for, from their first meeting until the time the session was recorded. Since the status of relationships are always subject to change, the time period we put on our title cards indicates the duration of their time together (friends, dating, and exes), not just their time as exes.

@@michaelafleming5084 i already said cheating but I do think a relationship can survive abuse if the person gets help with their anger management and obviously it depends on how bad the abuse is.

What if the person admits to the cheating themselves and you don’t go find out from someone else ? I think trust can be restored that way
@andyd34474 жыл бұрын
@@Neenaross214 That depends on the person. If cheating is something that you consider an ultimate betrayal of trust then I don't think the relationship can be restored. If you just consider it a "mistake" then it can be restored. There really is no right answer.
