Hello everyone! I have to say that in his presentation he asked is it a sin. NO IT IS NOT! Matthew 15:11 "A man is not defiled by what enters his mouth, but by what comes out of it..." Now if you drink alcohol, smoke cigs, or anything else is not the problem. The problem comes into play if by doing these things causes you to commit sins! So its not the wine, beer, cigs, weed, food, video games etc. its if these things cause you to commit sins. Example:1. A man drinks and is not addicted, and it doesn't cause him to commit or act sinfully. 2. The other man drinks and is addicted to drink and when he drinks becomes out of control, cussing and wanting to fight people and commits other sinful acts. Drinking for this person is sinful, but not for the other.

@@TerryN-ps3eh the scripture that you pointed out is talking about drunkards people who are given to alcohol. Just like first Timothy three says that Bishop should not be drunk alcoholics. They should not be given to wine, and it goes on to say deacons should not be given to much drink. How can you be given to much drink if it's a sin to drink at all? Rightly divide the word of truth.

Just because you took a verse and twisted it for your own perverse agenda, it doesn’t mean that what you say is biblical, it’s far from it. Also, “drunkenness” extends to anything that inebriates the mind, that includes drugs like, you guessed it, Marijuana. My husband has used (eaten in baked goods) Marijuana for 40 years and is not lazy, AND, at 61 is not on any prescribed DRUGS. The people in my life who have never used, or only tried it are the ones addicted to the pain killers their doctor hands out to them to keep the dr in excessive, obscene amounts of money, along with the pharmaceuticals. Was on antidepressants since I was 16 but stopped cold turkey at 25 and just smoked, ate, vaped cannabis. I honestly never felt this better in my life. On my antidepressants I would sleep for 12+ hours and still feel tired, felt like a zombie and had zero energy to do anything, and my depression and sometimes suicidal thoughts were not going away. Now at the age of 32, my energy levels are by far the best they have ever been, I can sleep for 6-8 hours and feel productive during the day, can do chores around the house without being lazy, even my school grades have improved. I thank God for giving us this magnificent plant to use but I do believe in moderation and only use at home with my husband who uses it for PTSD and insomnia after coming out of the military. I believe everyone has different reactions to cannabis and that is why you see some people who have had bad experiences but most of the time its with people who don't look out for them and don't know what to do during those situations.

I used to smoke weed and the oil for medicinal and recreational purposes for years..tbh this lifestyle was all about self pleasing idolatry. I told myself it was okay with every reason to justify my lifestyle. God personally convicted me for the following reasons: the bible says our body is the temple of the holy spirit, put nothing before God because if you're putting faith in weed to operate and function and not depending on God that makes weed an idol, we're also as Christians called/instructed to be a light in this dark world by ministering the gospel, having a prayer life and walking in the anointing to heal the sick, cast out devils, etc. And we dont have faith to do it for ourselves? I mean the devil comes to kill, steal and destroy Christians (especially in the mind)..how can we fight back spiritually when we're high? The church is sleeping and a lot of it is because some ministers in America preach excess grace and don't speak on this or call it out Respectfully, Jesus did not use weed to heal the sick or even operate on a daily basis. Marijuana like alcohol affects people differently. I've used both and can say from experience that using alcohol pretty much makes me useless whereas using Marijuana helps me concentrate on what I'm doing. I have a problem where when I'm working on something my mind tends to wander and if I use a little bit of Marijuana I can concentrate on the project at hand without my mind straying onto something else. And using alcohol and trying to do anything other then sleeping is a waste of time. But there are people who can't do anything if they use Marijuana. So like I said it affects us all differently.

It depends indica is for sleeping and sativa is for energy and focus. If someone smokes an Indica strain they will be useless. But if they smoke a sativa strain the can function better. India helps you relax specialty with people who have insomnia.... So it's not necessarily that marijuana affects people differently it's more that the different strains affect people differently there's also hybrids there's an entire spectrum of either sativa or indica dominant hybrids or some that are along the middle some people with mental illnesses cannot have indica some people with certain medical conditions cannot have sativa or vice versa so I entirely understand where you're coming from but you cannot overdose on marijuana like you can on alcohol

And of course illegal in all 50 states. But still we could smoke the same stuff and some of us were ready to rock and some were glued to the couch. Everyone's metabolism is different everyone get different affects from the same product. But at least now thanks to your information I know what I need to relax and I'm retired so I don't need to focus on anything. Lol

I don't condemn those who use it since it may very well be permissible in reasonable doses and strengths. If the Lord makes it known to me he's ok with it, i would probably take it back up, however absent of that, scripture isn't quite clear enough on it for me. God bless.

I must say, at least in the USA, everything is political, more than spiritual. We have 2 types of Christians: Progressive (Liberal) Christians and Conservative Christians. Each one with their point of view depending what there political party promotes. I purchased an Indica pen (vape) from a recreational (legal in Illinois) store. I suffer from serious sleeping conditions, such as sleep apnea and insomnia. I hit that pen every night before going to sleep. 2 puffs 45 minutes before bed time, as you need a window of time to drink some water to avoid cotton mouth. I did this for more than a year. ONLY AT NIGHT before going to bed. I do not like alcohol. (I DONT SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH HAVING A COLD ONE AT A BOND FIRE OR HANGING OUT WITH FRIENDS, AS LONG AS THERE IS MODERATION) but I personally don't like beer or any type of alcohol. Anyhow, after one year of hitting the indica marijuana pen, I decided to go to Marijuana Anonymous. I told them the truth, that I only hit the vape pen before going to bed because of my sleeping condition. Never in the morning or lunch time. And I dont drink or smoke. I was looked at like I was trying to make a comedy video with them. They shook their heads and told me, that what I had was not an addiction problem. What I had was a Religious Guilt problem and I should talk to my Reverend. And they said the same thing some professionals advise. Stop for 30 days and if you feel you cant stop, and you shake and get crabby, then come back for the 12 step program. So far its been a week. Don't feel any withdrawals, I just cant sleep right, even with melatonin gummies, but Im fine!!🤷🏻‍♂️

My use of cannabis is on the border of medical and recreational. I have chronic pain and ptsd but at the same time I sometimes smoke more then I would need to alleviate symptoms.

I know right, im far more productive with a little cannabis than I am completely sober. I've had attention deficit disorder my whole life. Took the pills as a kid but I can still tell you the day and time I first found cannabis that day I finally became the person I was always suppose to be. As a Christian man who smokes I am trying to find the answers. This video was not helpful. It did not mention once what the Bible actually says about marijuana. And all of his information is wrong. No scientific evidence. Marijuana as a plant is very nutritious, and the leaves are akin to basil or arugula. Very tasty in a salad. It was also used in some form in an oil in the Bible. But as far as smoking goes, it isn’t explicitly mentioned as far as I know. When people say it changes the mind, or better yet, makes one no longer sober, I have issues with this statement. I am not sure how accurate this is or if it is based on assumption. Does this state of mind induce poor decision-making? In many instances it can. Is it something that can’t ever be done, though? Is there any use for it at all or are we to believe God made this plant just to stand out as one not meant to be consumed even when everyone likes to consumer it. I don’t have all the answers. Can any good arise out of it? I am still figuring it out but this video really didn’t do a good job. It was pretty judgmental and offensive and outright not accurate. I suggest anyone who really wants to know to pray about it and do more research.

@John Williams yea for sure. I don’t wanna say DUH, but DUH. But this is a bigger question. We know the seed is good. I said the plant itself is very nutritious. But the question of smoking it and altering mindset is the question, right? Do we smoke Bananas? Can you? Can you get “high”? Probably. Is it bad for you? Most likely YES. But just because it comes from a seed doesn’t mean we smoke it. Or any seeded plant for that matter (all come from seeds right? I’m not a scientist lol). @John Williams and with all that said above, I decided to stop smoking as of this morning, with the help of another person also doing the same thing at the same time. I have realized that marijuana can be very beneficial in some ways - still not sure whether it should be smoked, but I know oral consumption for sure has its benefits. However I also know there have been things in my life I just can’t shake, and I am held back in some ways. I have the drive and the conviction and spirit to do more but I am lacking passion and motivation. I think marijuana has a lot to do with the lack of motivation. But let’s not live in denial - because many of us do - I don’t want to say it can make you lazy but I will say, whether indica or sativa, marijuana makes you less energized. Now I’m not saying every time. I know people can smoke and get energized. But it’s a fact - overall it depletes your energy and makes your tired. Or “calms the nerves”, however you want to put it. There’s a reason it’s used for pain relief and muscle recovery - it “numbs” the body. So after many years of changing habits and lifestyle, other than marijuana, still without the motivation and passion I am seeking - I have decided I have to at least find out if this is the reason. I truly believe it has hindered me to a degree. I am sure it has allowed me to prosper in other ways but right now I know I just need to stop. It’s not doing anything for me

We are to be sober minded, and vigilant in all our ways. Marijuana does indeed change your state of mind. I was a heavy smoker for around 4 years, and I feel the holy spirit cannot fill your temple if it is already filled with another spirit. I've also used Ephesians 5:18 as a reminder. I am guilty of partaking in edibles ( I can't stand smoke of any kind ). I ask forgiveness constantly, which I hope I get. I try to stop but every once in a few months I might get some. Usually for major anxiety when I am in a social setting, or if I am having a serious gallbladder attack. I hit a joint a couple times at night and usually right after I'm listening to music while cleaning my house and doing the dishes, reading and doing research online and sometimes working out or playing video games which both require concentration and focus so no the detrimental effects to your brain are not obvious and are in no way as detrimental as the effects of Acetaldehyde in the bloodstream from consuming alcohol.

I think, like with anything, it can be a risk. I know a once or twice a day smoker and who now as COPD and worsening mental health issues, and others who use it in similar ways who have no issues yet. It can affect your lungs in similar ways to smoking cigarettes or other things.I think you have to follow your own convictions after taking many factors into prayerful consideration. The best we can do is learn all we can about it’s uses and the risks involved.

I think an important part of his message may have been missed from what I can gather from your comment. He repeatedly mentions “recreational use of marijuana” is what has been deemed as harmful and this has been proven, I’m not sure where you found it to be false at seeing as there are a good amount of credible studies supporting this. Also, naming coffee, tea, or other products doesn’t take away from the message of what marijuana is and what it does. I agree that God placed the plants on the earth for us to use, however, everything has its intended purpose and use. The way marijuana is recreationally used is simply not biblical or even medicinal. The Lord never said he placed it here for us to “have fun with”, if you will, but that seems to be how it’s used. It’s just how Paul said to drink a little bit of alcohol for your stomach or ailments you may have (1 Timothy 5:23) but that doesn’t make alcohol consumption okay for “recreational use”. It’s the natural process of fermentation that creates it. Does it cause withdrawals and addiction? Absolutely. So does sugar, so does caffeine, and so does cannabis. Each has their own extent to which they do so but that doesn’t take away the harms of cannabis alone. Cannabis is a drug. It’s considered a psychoactive drug. It alters the brain as drugs are commonly known to do. Because other churches make recreational use of marijuana doesn’t make it ethical for all churches. Some things may be lawful but all are not beneficial. I have heard of the so called banned or lost books of the Bible. Although I am admittedly ignorant to their contexts as a whole, I would be surprised to see where specifically smoking a substance is not prohibited but encouraged. Nonetheless, those books still aren’t said to be canon because of the deviations between the copies contained and how they deviate at times from what we know the true Word of God to be. I agree that marijuana has beneficial use. Opioids have beneficial use to them and are also naturally derived from a plant. Marijuana has been proven to have more cons than pros in the manner that individuals like to use them in and I have not see statistics to counter that. Now by comparison, if you were using alcohol, or Benzodiazepine medications, the withdrawals from those alone, can kill you. Coming off Heroin or Opiate / Opioid drugs, is like a small taste of hell, and you are physically and emotionally sick at the same time. I have not ever once seen someone who became a prostitute over Weed, and I doubt many have, because it's simply not anywhere near that level. Now, with this in mind let me explain what a "Runner's High" is; It's the Endocannabinoids that are literally already in your body being released.... We legit have these in our bodies, and running / going for marathon jogs, and so on, can release them. It's kind of hard to call something a drug when you don't actually have to ingest anything to have it. I'm not saying every Church needs to smoking inside, I'm saying NO Church should be stating it's somehow wrong. Remember; There may be Protestants, and Catholics, and a bunch of other Denominations, but we are supposed to be serving the SAME God, just as the Jews and Muslims do. Same God, we're Brother and Sister, period. Should everyone smoke? Of course not, some can't, and some probably shouldn't. But to simply say it's wrong, is wrong. Also, Biblical use wasn't smoked; It was made into Oil and used that way. THC can only be useful when it's 220 degrees Fahrenheit so for it to have the effects, you have to heat it up. I think one issue I keep running into when I speak to fellow brothers and sisters is that our copies of the Bible, in English, were for some reason all translated from Greek, which has lead to issues like this. Ancient Hebrew is what should have been translated, not Greek. Kaneh Bosm is in the book of Exodus, and it was translated from Greek into a "Fragrant Reed" though if you look into the original text, Kaneh Bosm appears to be Cannabis. There's literally books written on this subject, and, for someone like me who can't buy any book I'd like, I use Documentaries, and can look into what they say myself if I think I need too. The way I view part of this, comes from the Qu'Ran; Communicating with the Almighty Father while drunk isn't OK, however, Cannabis and Prayer...... I really have a hard time to explain this to someone who doesn't smoke, but when you Pray and you've been smoking, it's on a whole other level. It makes me realize why the Rastafarian community smokes all day, as a form of meditation, and of course, communication with God. Also not long ago, an old Temple was found, and in one of the pillars where things were burned inside, they found Cannabis. Israelite peoples seem to have had a relationship with Cannabis in the Temple, so again, I'm not saying everyone should be using it, but I am saying I find it hard not to see hypocrisy and miscommunication leading to people thinking that they aren't allowed to use Cannabis. I'm literally not aware of a single plant that was ever banned, unlike meat where Shellfish, Scaleless fish, and Pork and human flesh were all banned. Now, we're allowed to eat Pork and Scaleless Fish and Shellfish because of the New Testament, as all foods are clean after God is given thanks for them, but we are also to NOT consume foods like this around our Jewish and Muslim brothers and sisters, as the Bible says "If your brother would turn from God because of your choice in food it is better you abstain from that food, than for your brother to turn away from God". I have no intentions of eating Catfish or Bacon around my Muslim or Jewish brothers and sisters because that s offensive to them, but Cannabis is not banned. These translation issues cause more problems than just Cannabis.... Do you know how many people think "Mark" was a name of a Disciple of Jesus? Like there were white guys walking around the Middle East 2,000 years ago ? It's because of Greek "Marqus". Then again, we also have people who claim to believe only in science that say "Oh did Penguins walks from the Arctic to get on Noah's Ark ?"....... I can't help but wonder who could possibly read a science book, and then think Aquatic birds would need to be saved from WATER.... :)

Alcohol messes with your mind more and its use outside of communion is entirely recreational, surely it is not godly to have a glass of wine with your meal, but I also dont think having a glass of wine or a joint are neccesarily sins either, just not fully within gods light. Cigarettes are also interesting since they are one of the most addictive drugs, but also they are a stimulant so maybe stimulation isnt as bad biblically speaking as other classes of drugs, but the addiction to cigarettes or cocaine for example surely does alter your thinking even if the effects dont meet the biblical definition of that (obviously strictly speaking any stimulant does alter thinking but it just enhances it, I mean I dont think people will think god is against someone drinking coffee) but I mean if casual marijuana use is bad due to health risks and not respecting your body, obviously even a single glass of wine harms your body and slows your mind far more, so maybe wine is a sin? I know lots of people say they dont feel a glass of wine or a single bowl of weed but I think to anyone who doesnt abuse these substances you deffiently will feel the effects from even a small amount of either. I dont smoke weed often so even one puff will effect me just like I dont drink often so even a few sips of wine can be felt and a full glass will deffinetly impare me for at least an hour. And regardless wine or alcohol is far more toxic and detrimental to ones ability to form a relationship with god so I guess I can see it being a sin. But for some schizophrenic people, cannabis can be an effective treatment too. I suppose if you don’t know your genetic history, and don’t want to risk it, that’s your choice, but I think the logic is flawed. Have you ever eaten peanuts? Shellfish? Strawberries? These foods aren’t known to cause schizophrenia…they cause DEATH. For people who are allergic anyway. And the likelihood of being born with a deadly food allergy is thousands of times more that having dormant schizophrenia.

It’s not chemically addictive like other substances (like nicotine, for example) but it can be addictive in the same way that gambling can. It’s a mind altering drug. You should use it carefully, and if you can’t do that, it’s best not to use it at all. May I ask, Mr. Gonzalez, do you enjoy a drink from time to time? I ask because most Christians are ok with moderate consumption of alcohol. After all, Jesus even drank wine. But, many people have similar stories to yours, but the substance that takes control of their lives was alcohol. All I’m saying is, different people have different experiences. If cannabis took control of your life, it’s wonderful that you are rid of it. I would never try to convince you to go down that path again. I will say though, that many users find that it enhances their life and health. Heck, even Rastafarians (a Christian-based religion) will often use it to enhance their worship. I would also add that recreational marijuana is still illegal at the federal level, and federal law trumps state level. The morality of something, is not determined by your odds of getting caught/prosecuted by man. What we should be most concerned about, is being prosecuted by God Himself. With marijuana, you are playing with fire. I've quit now for almost 130 days. I think that'll start again. I don't notice any differences in my ability to think, work or glorify God. When my plants are harvested, I'm going to smoke. The Bible doesn't mention Marijuana, and for that reason, I don't think we can accurately speak of God's wishes regarding it. I've known very intelligent, motivated and healthy people who consume marijuana. There's strong evidence that marijuana has medicinal value, and there's also evidence that it causes harm. It's like milk, or eggs, or fish, or red meat, or sugar, or flour, or just about anything that a person can consume. There's pros and cons. I don't think God makes mistakes, and I don't think it's a coincidence that marijuana has such a profound ability to work the way it does when it's consumed. We have canabinoid receptors in our brains. Why would that be? I think God wants us to smoke marijuana.

I have used cannabis since 1967. I'm 69 yrs.old In recent years, I have switched from flower to oil. And only at night before bed. One drop of RSO (Rick Scott Oil ) the size of a grain of rice or so, under the tongue is sufficient to allow a calming , sleep with no next day grogginess. I'm much more comfortable using cannabis for my pain and sleep instead of otc or dr. prescribed chemical drugs. I am healthy, active in equestrian activities, and gardening.I believe in moderation of all things including alcohol... 1 glass with a evening meal if desired, food, small portions and clean home grown types of food,..... beef, fresh fish, pork and in season garden foods. Just dont over induldge. Gluttonly is a sin. Enjoy everything. Moderation in all things. 😉

personally, to see what the opinions of others are on the topic, this particular gentlemen didn't provide any good scriptural evidence to back up his claim whatsoever unfortunately. he also thinks marijuana is physically addictive, and "Deadens" the brain.... it's no more or less addictive than sugar or caffeine (i don't smoke weed anymore btw, haven't since coming to Christ, but only because i don't definitively know how he feels about it, i don't dabble where i'm not 100% sure, however smoking it for years regulalry before hand, gives me legitimate insight into various claims that people who've never used it make, and unfortunately most Christians talk absolute nonsense in regards to the effects of marijuana, having never tried it). I was a huge addict. I had an emergent hysterectomy an did it with no pain pills...just cannabis. On top of that, I was able to come off of prescribed narcotic anxiety medications and narcotic anxiety addiction medication in 6 months. God showed me that I could make it through that hysterectomy if I taught myself everything about that plant and to treat the doses like the dose of a Tylenol which I don't take anymore either since a year of that ruined a lobe of my liver. I am church of christ and they pushed me away for this but I will always be member of the Lord's Church if I read the Bible and obey the commands. And taking a dose in the morning to get up to go to work I stead if 4 narcotics Is way better...or should I go back to that, friend?!

Weed can be addictive but with proper doses and terpene combinations (entourage effect) it can truly simultaneously help treat several diseases, conditions, and symptoms even if it’s a recreational strain with little to no CBD in it. Smoking weed is not automatically intoxication in my opinion but I accept that I could be wrong. It depends on the person’s reason behind smoking, their self control, and whether God interprets smoking in general as intoxication or whether intoxication is only in the sense which people typically perceive intoxication in relation to over use of alcohol or tobacco which are addictive but really don’t nearly half as many positive benefits as cannabis according to scientific research, not just my personal research, experience, and opinion. However, due to the lack of specificity in the Bible regarding smoking Marihuana, it’s quite a complex topic. But I must admit that there are quite a few strong arguments against and supporting cannabis use with the use of Bible verses. God bless y’all.

Final fact: alcohol IS the more addictive drug of the two-without a doubt. I mean it deffinetly impares you temporarily and that can be harmful in your ability to form a relationship with god. But MJ deffiently impares the mind far less than alcohol, and even a single glass of wine can impare your thinking and actually causes harm to your brain and other organs so I'm not sure, I suppose if you view alcohol as a sin for its impairment it makes sense to view weed the same, but if its because alcohol damages your body that god gave you that you view it as a sin then weed is fine. But I mean opium wasnt viewed as a sin by Christians at all until 200 years ago and more popularily 100 years ago so remember a lot of these things have more to do with the current situation and peoples worldviews and political stances. Coffee was seen as a worse sin that smoking opium for a long time, many christian and Islamic countries made coffee illegal while allowing opium to be smoked and eaten with no judgment. I mean the bible doesnt really specifically condem drugs at all it only really says that drinking can be a sin, and I think that's because people didnt really differentiate between medical and recreational use of many drugs at the time, if you took some hash or opium to help you sleep at night or to relax from some vague old timey medical condition then it was fine and almost all use of opium and hashish were considered self medication all the way from the time of jesus to the Victorian age. And the views of god are more important than the views of man so we shoudnt put too much stock into when people put biblical justification behind their own personal feelings that have been societally influenced and not by God, like most anti drug messaging within christianity

If you are seeking to lose touch with reality and "get high" than it is sin. Much like a glass of wine is acceptable in God's view but drunkenness is not. I am a born again Christian who uses medicinal cannabis in place of traditional pharmaceuticals to treat mental illness and back pain. If I wanted to go to the dispensary and purchase a strain high in THC then go home and abuse it, there would be nothing stopping me from doing that other than my faith and obedience to Christ. The same can be said for any medicine though. The use of Oxytocin for pain relief is not a sin. Taking double your dose to get high is. I've taken my cannabis today and can assure you that I am of sober mind and not In violation of God's law.
