This video does a better job than most videos of explaining the relationship between the pancreas, insulin, sugar, and diabetes.
@dwilborn12577 жыл бұрын
My only criticism of this video is using the term diabetes without clarifying the difference between the two types. People with Type 1 can't make insulin, people with Type 2 are resistant to insulin (though if the disease progresses they may also become insulin dependent). Otherwise very informative.
@redin3216 жыл бұрын

There is a little inaccuracy: the pancreatic juice isn't secreted into the stomach but duodenum. The video makes it look like the bicarbonate neutralizes the stomach acid in the stomach, which actually happens in the duodenum.

It is soooo informative and objective to everyone, but please don’t forget that “diabetes” doesn’t necessarily mean what we most commonly acknowledge. There is diabetes mellitus type I and type II ( I- the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin, II- resistant to insulin), which means pancreas malfunction, but there is also diabetes insipidus which is related to hormonal imbalance ( the ADH secretion by the pituitary gland isn’t adequate) and it isn’t related to blood sugar levels at all.

Anatomy fail: the pancreas doesn't release its "juices" into the stomach as implied by the animation, but into the beginning of the small intestine (duodenum).

So if you had an blood sugar test, you drink a bottle of coke and your blood sugar did not rise high that means you have a good insulin release?
@alyssacoulter88449 жыл бұрын
No, it can still rise, it just won't be too high that it will affect your glucose levels significantly. I have type 1 diabetes meaning that my pancreas has completely shut down. So if I were to have a coke bottle my sugars could raise from a 5.3 to a 23.3 which is very high. For a person without diabetes it would raise from say a 5.3 to a 7.3. A good range is a 4.0-8.0 (Canadian system)

Hey Michael, You may keep injecting yourself with insulin for your entire life, also taking other medicines. And all of their side effects keep on accumulating........ You know that already......... ...Or else you could treat yourself with natural meds, nutritions and lifestyle changes....... That too in a cost effective manner with ZERO side effects......... .......... You would gradually reduce insulin and medicines....... You would get initial relief in 5 to 6 months, but take the medicines for 18 months for complete reversal...... No meds what so ever required after that..... ....... The treatment costs you around 400 dollars only, for an entire year....... ............... Do yourself a favor and give it a try...... You would live life to the fullest....
