It is because of Pamela Ferrell that I learned how to take care of my circle hair. As a result, I have been natural since 1992! People LOVE my hair, and I have never been discriminated against (that I know of) because of it. My hair has gotten me much attention, and I believe opened many doors for me in the field of music and education. It helps me to be seen so that my voice, and the voices of others who look like me, can be heard and valued. Thank you, Pamela Ferrell, for being our advocate and educator! I am eternally grateful to you!!!

Great talk. This content should be taught to elementary school children. So much discrimination stems from ignorance.

My hair is super straight (as most scandinavians have) and I can't understand why so many fellow whites can hate on such gorgeous fascinating and beautiful hair that should be cherished as culture and history and pride. Especially when it has been proven that the human race begun in Africa so it is basically everybody's roots so the people born with these hairtypes have hair textures that have been around longer than my hair type has in our species which to me is incredibly cool. The reason why my hair became straight and light is because of neanderthal love poured light skin, straight hair and blue eyes into my gene pool. I seriously think all types of hair is an attractive trait though! Everyone is beautiful in the hair they were given no matter the continent it originated from and this talk was one of the most interesting ones out there! Very interesting!

WOW! It's unfortunate and sad that "our" hair styles are copied and praised but when we wear our hair it's ridiculed and banned.

The ignorance is annoying just like our body shape, praised on other skin tone but never praised on the original people GOD created with such gorgeous shape.

Wow, I had no idea that there was discrimination and punishment for keeping natural hair natural. Thank you for the education. I have very straight hair and grew up with a mom who would have loved to have been born with curly hair, but since she didn't have curly hair she permed her hair constantly -- and permed her three daughters' hair as well. I grew up with constantly permed hair. In my rebellious teenage years I swore I would never have a perm, ever again; decided I would appreciate the hair I was born with, no matter what color it is; and decided to go natural. Now at age 60 my hair is long, cut off straight at the bottom once a year, un-dyed, brown and going gray. It is my wish that everyone could have the same experience as me: to appreciate the hair they were born with, to not want the hair someone else has -- or even worse, to not be punished for not having the hair someone else was born with!!! -- and to not feel pressure from the outside world to conform to a reality that is not true for them. I love your hair, by the way. It was my opinion while Michelle Obama was First Lady that she had a grand opportunity at that time to go natural, to not straighten her hair, and to set the example for the world that natural hair was beautiful and it was her choice to be totally herself in all ways.

I just ran upon your video from watching another video and I had no idea about discrimination from hair that it was this bad in this day & age (by the way I'm about the same age as you are) And I would like to commend you on standing up for human being all over the planet because God made our hair & it's not a fad.

I had to cut my hair to work for Disney. Eventually they included other styles even though now mine would be past my collar. No sure i could find a way to keep it to the liking. It has been something that is not as openly pointed out but determines whether a door opens or not.
