Cheslin Kolbys cover defence and general play when Boks down to 13 was brilliant - physicality runs from the biggest to the smallest in the Springbok team.Gatlin has talked openly about how the 2009 Lions were taken aback by the physicality in the first test even after playing much stronger provincial teams in their warm up.Not sure why this should be a surprise to this very formidable Lions team.

Jim we got love for you as well in SA. I think besides a lack of game time for the SA A or springboks they didn't have 7 of their players and players in key positions. no Bongi mbonambi and Frans Marlherbe key in front row. No Lood De jager and RG snyman key in the second row. No Siya kolisi and Duane Vermuelen key in the back row and also leaders. No Pollard key in the Flyhalf and direction of the team. no Mapimpi Dangerous winger. This Springbok side is dangerous still Fassi and Dupreez brothers too. bring on the series the springboks will smash the BIL team.

Players like Pollard, Kolisi, Frans Steyn, Frans Malherbe, Mapimpi, RG Snyman, Lood de Jager, Bongi Mbonambi, the Du Preez twins. 11 players that are very physical, very skilled and most of them are some of the best in their positions in the world. John Hanson. I Disagree, I thought the Boks lack of match practice showed, they were on fire for only 20 mins then their intensity fell away, they did'nt look match fit in the 2nd half. The Lions fell short of tries by inches on two occasions, the Boks were defending and hanging on for grim death helped by Jaco's whistle. Plus 7 of the Boks points were a gift from Farrell, If that had'nt happened the Lions would have won 10-13 😀

Adam Beard was my bolter for the Lions ahead of the squad annoncement. IMO he's the best swimmer in the world and basically unplayable in the maul. There's a reason Wales didn't lose a game with him on the pitch for a year. He's unbelievable in every aspect of the set piece and he combines it with an under-rated ability in the loose and passing ability. He'll be world class one day.
@marcusf90093 жыл бұрын
How do you mean best swimmer? Isn't swimming up the maul illegal?
@brynjones35303 жыл бұрын
@@marcusf9009 Only if you change your bind. If you reach across the maul or position yourself so you can get to the ball carrier you can basically latch on to the ball and not let go. Then if the ball doesn't come out of the maul it's a turnover. Pretty sure that's right anyway. the things you can't do in a maul are change your bind, pull it down or enter from the side. Hopefully there's a tight forward out there somewhere that can clarify that.

The spirit of the Lions tour is about promoting , developing and sharing Rugby. Farrell has been playing championship rugby all season and isn't England's usual starting 10. I can't see him starting at 10 for a Lions test, and he'd more likely be bench cover for 10 and 12. That said, Murray's lack of dynamism probably didn't help the situation either. Price and Biggar are looking good for me at the moment at 9 and 10.

As far as the Faf yellow goes; he was lucky he was as small as he is. We’re he 6’4” and 110kg leading with the head / shoulder into a ruck with no arms and connecting directly with the head of an opponent would most likely result in a red.
@nicholasvanlierde25463 жыл бұрын
Except he didn't hit the man with the ball. He collided heads with a player who shouldn't even be in the way. You could say the lions player headbutted Faf. It's a rugby incident that has not been clarified in the rules

My first thought was that Faz had a poor game but, watching again and listening to a number of podcasts with people who know more than me, he was too often presented with too few options and was given no choice but to kick, run into a wall of Boks or throw a long pass. The midfield of Aki and Harris didn’t click as well as we might hope particularly going forward.
