I completely agree. I love learning what other teachers are doing and being inspired by their set up or new ways of teaching that I haven't though of before. Thank you, this is very helpful! Two follow up questions: Do you use the built-in camera on your macbook for video during your classes or something else for your video? How do you monitor the sound of your students - headphones/earbuds, bose speaker, computer speaker, etc? I find it really helps reduce potential feedback and other sound issues if I am using some kind of headphones.
@VirtualTeachingPro
@VirtualTeachingPro 4 жыл бұрын
I use to use the computer camera but now I use my iPhone as my camera bc it has better quality. I don't use earbuds anymore actually but I have a space that it's okay to have loud noise with lots of students talking and singing 😊 I just use my computer speakers but I have a brand new macBook pro so the quality is really high. Headphones are great for feedback though! Also check out your zoom audio settings and see if you can make some adjustments that might help like enabling Original Sound in advanced settings.

I guess it’s a personal preference. I like to be able to step back or into the mic. I also teach and coach online for vocals with my performing students/clients so I need a mic that compresses the sound for singing which can only be done with a mic not attached to the headphones.

Hello ashley is there any ringlight that is eyes friendly
@VirtualTeachingPro
@VirtualTeachingPro 4 жыл бұрын
Good question. Lately, I've been playing with putting lights on the side corners in front rather than right in front of me to help ease eye strain. All ring lights are pretty much the same but I suggest making sure you can get one that has a warm to cool color wheel for options. I also like to use as much natural light as possible to lower the use of ring lights durning the day

Great information,,I just have One question, how do you go with people talking to you during class,,say in Zoom,and the students voices with the external microphone?? Is there any feedback?? Do you have a seperate speaker setup?? Thanks
@VirtualTeachingPro
@VirtualTeachingPro 3 жыл бұрын
Depends. If you use a USB digital mic then you should be fine with no feedback. If you use an analog mic and external mixer then you will need to use headphones for the speaker so you can hear the students. My typpical set up I just plug in the USB mic to my laptop and select that mic in Zoom for the audio and select speaker as either my headphones or just my laptop speaker if I don't want to wear headphones. Does that help?

@VirtualTeachingPro
@VirtualTeachingPro 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicola! I feel ya on teaching online since March. Design is so challenging to teach online so hang in there! I teach musical theatre so we do lots of singing and loud talking so an external mic really helps with condensing the sound and creating a more "live" quality of the voice so it feels like they are in the room. I find that an external mic also helps with a clear, crisp sound when you're speaking just bc it's better quality than the built in mic. I think it's a personal choice really. If you're doing a ton of online teaching and meetings, etc then it's a good option bc it really does up the level and quality of the sound. When I switch from my computer mic to the external mic the students are always shocked at how much better it sounds.

I do not get any feedback when I use my mic but you might want to go back in and check your settings in zoom though. Go into advanced under the audio section and check it out. Also make sure you only have one device open that's using zoom in your work space and two. That could cause feedback.

@VirtualTeachingPro
@VirtualTeachingPro 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. It depends on the platform the school/tutor is using. I would reach out to your teacher and ask them if there is anything specific you need. I would assume you need a internet, computer and a quiet place you can work. Try to find a bright place so the teacher can clearly see you and a quiet place so they can hear you. YOu might try using headphones and perhaps get an external mic so they can clearly hear you. Either try a headphone with a mic attached like a gaming headphone set or an external mic you can plug into your computer. Best wishes in your learning!

I really enjoy your videos. I know your very busy person but Is it ok of I ask you something? This is so nuts, and my eyes are going to pop out of my head. I've been studying and becoming more acquainted with trying to build a course by reading ebooks but sadly, I encountered a laptop problem. I purchase a brand new HP laptop for $1,000, thinking that the computer would be able to handle some software like Camtasia and then all of a sudden Camtasia crashed when I opted a video or 2 resulting in a blue screen of death in other words it froze and a blue screen appeared. I called the HP service and send in my laptop about two days ago, so I'm in a bit of a pickle because I don't know what to do now. Will I be better off using Camtasia or another platform? I'm not satisfied since I paid for Camtasia already and scared to use it again. Is this something you've experienced? everything was running smoothly until I downloaded camtashia! I will appreciate your feedback and will be grateful🙏🏽.

Hi there. So sorry that happened to you. I am not familiar with Camtasia personally but it looks like a great software promo for creating and editing video content. I use a MacBrook Pro for all my work so I'm not familiar with HP laptops and their capabilities. If everything was working until you downloaded the program then it might be that your hardware wasn't equipped to fully run the program.
