Give some thought to certifications in public relations, or a communications position as the "face" of a company. You've got presence! Few have it; I know I haven't, but I can recognize it. Heyyyy. So did you ever feel like you might not get enough hours? Like I’m coming straight from the food business, where “if it’s slow, somebody gotta go”. Does that happen in 911? Like if it’s a slow day people get sent home? We will be working 8hr shifts where I’m at. Like what I’m asking is we’re there pay periods where you got less hours than usual?

Great question!! Absolutely not! Each agency has to have a certain number of people per shift. They don't generally send people home. I NEVER got less hours than I planned. They don't send people home because what if there was something major that happened and you didn't have coverage?? That will never be an issue.

Do you have to dress a certain way to the testing? I have my phase 1 test this teusday and idk what to wear, should I go like I'm going to an interview ? Or more casual?

I always think that business attire is always acceptable. I would suggest a blouse and slacks or skirt. Even though you aren't "interviewing", you still are being looked at so it is important to always look your best! I hope this helps!

I just passed my dispatcher exam a couple days ago and I was emailed about them starting the background investigation and I’ve almost got all my paper work turned back in I was wondering if you could tell me how long it generally takes to get the job at this stage?

I was wondering about uniforms. When I turned in my background packet a dispatcher (I believe a police one but I'm not sure) that was in uniform. He had a police badge emblem on his shirt with 911 communications officer inside...uh yeah, I pay attention like that...nevermind the fact that writhing was small & thin as hell 😂😂😂😂 I'm so glad you posted this video because it provided more clarity on things & um maybe I need to know more than where Joann's Fabrics, Best Buy & Zales is & the highway that's right there in the city I applied for 😳 lol

Oh yes!!! You HAVE to learn geography!! I am telling you that it was one of the most helpful things for me frfr... I used my geography knowledge EVERYDAY!! People would say they are driving SB on a street that goes East and West and is not in our city! And then they argue and say "this is your city!!!" lol!! LEARN IT!!!

Heyyyy!! Congrats and how exciting!! Depends on the type of certification you receive... however with a Telecommunicator license that is the job you can do... however there are other job opportunities you will have based on your experience as a dispatcher. Hopefully that is a little helpful for you! Keep us posted!!
