It's wild how for like 200 chapters the Hunter Association is almost pure plot device that feels like it's there to help shore up the initial 'pitch' of the story but that has precious few concrete worldbuilding details... and then suddenly there's a whole arc diving deep into its politics, like "yeah yknow, the whole Temp Hunter issue that's a big controversy, everyone knows about that, you got your head in the sand??!" Bushidora was not a member of Netero's pure paladin squad, he was a member of a "revived" pure paladin squad, which as far as we know had none of the original members. Morel made a point out of this when he chastised the use of the name when the members were so weak. The original squad consisted of Netero and presumably his fight buddies, It is a safeish bet that Zigg Zoldyck and Linne Horsdoeuvre were also members as they joined Netero for his romp in the DC.

Even Illumi became aware of it, and he’s not even particularly interested in the Association’s affairs. If Morel was recommended to three stars thanks to his contribution to the ants extermination mission and the palace invasion mission, why would it be impossible for Netero to get a star or multiple post-mortem.

We didn't have 5 arcs of Gon training in it or 6 movies looking at you Harry Potter. We didn't get to meet every single person and have every facet of the org shown to us because it really didn't matter to the stories of our protags.

I think the star system having nothing to do with combative power is really adding depth to the meaning of a hunter, as a hunter is someone who seeks something which could be anything, the need to learn nen and be able to defend themselves is a bare minimum to be one because the hxh universe is a very very dangerous place, it's also makes sense that Netero has no single star as his only goal in life is to become the strongest which benefits him only (directly at least) I like to imagine enhancers to have the least amount of stars because they are determined to achieve a single goal and are very selfish and simple minded but that's just a funny thought for me

I honestly don't know how divorced those ideas are really At the beginning we met Menchi who was underestimated for being a Gourmet Hunter only to then prove that even the seemingly non-combatant hunters need to risk their lives exploring dangerous places. With the bar set there, it's reasonable to assume that in order to produce remarkable achievements, one needs to be strong in the HxX world (Or else the achievement wouldn't be remarkable) That doesn't mean that a single star hunter is automatically stronger than no stars hunters, just that the concept isn't completely disconnected from strength

Hisoka and Kurapika both intend to hunt them, the Hunters and Mafia families are neutral at best, and the Troupe might get themselves involved in the succession war after seeing the body horror "art" 🤮 of Prince Tserriednich and being reminded of their origin. Tserriednich might catch them off-guard with his nen beasts and false future ability and kill one himself. Making a move on him will make the rest hostile towards the Spiders, causing this all to be even more dangerous. Plus, back home at Meteor City, we have Gyro being set up as someone who will become a threat, likely filling the power vacuum, and use his knowledge of Nen provided by Welfin to raise a new kingdom with the intent to destroy the world.

Many people misunderstand the star system It has nothing to do with your “power level” but your accomplishments in your field or expertise. People also forget many hunters create a Hatsu that caters to the occupation. Not all hunters focus on combat since basic Nen can already provide you necessary protection (Ken, Ko, shu etc) Most of the times, hunters are going against non Nen users or dangerous animals Leorio created his Hatsu for his occupation as a doctor and the fact it saves money from needing many types of medical equipment It just so happens to be useful in combat too since it can be applied that way, as shown by Ging.

Gon didn't get a star after completing Greed Island or his participation in the Ant campaign, all because Gon hasn't chosen any specialty. So! it probably means that one who has a specialty and achieves something unrelated to their specialty might not get a star at all, but the exception seem to be from having subordinates that achieve a star, it can boost your star to double or triple star even if it's unrelated to your specialty. But it's just me guessing from a mention of Morel possibly getting triple after the ant arc after someone under him getting a star.

Kite mentioned that Ging could be a triple star Hunter if he wanted but he is too lazy to do the paperwork for it. So maybe Gon is qualified for a star for either clearing Greed Island (Game Hunter) or for helping with the Chimera Ants since that's why we think Knuckle and Shoot are probably considered for stars. TLDR: Gon would never get a star no matter what he does since I just can't see him do any paperwork to get it approved anyway, lmao.

Knov's ability, could he set a door on the ship to the dark continent and connect it to one on the stories main land? That way instant access to and from the dark continent without having to pay the price for safe travel there? Not to mention being able to quickly move profitable material and injured people back and bring reinforcements almost instantaneously.

Theoretically yes, but after his breakdown, he's not up to the task of stepping foot in the DC. So his current role is to be stationed at the "fake new world", across the sea from the DC, to transfer findings from the DC back to the human world. But other people will be responsible for going into and taking things out of the DC to him.

We don't know the absolute limits of his powers, if there is a max distance allowed or not, or if there is some supernatural barrier preventing this via the gatekeepers or some other phenomena. But there is also the human element. Would know even go there knowing the threats? He's capable yes, and brave but may still be traumatized by the ants. But assuming he does go, and there isn't restrictions that we don't know of, then yes, once he sets up a door, he can Telenor people there through the use of his master key.

As to why a Jackpot hunter could obtain a star, he could simply be going after any prize. Companies, organizations, and even government in the real world will offer bounties or prizes for specific tasks like 'create a proof for X' or 'create a BLANK.' One that immediately comes to mind is the bounty for reliable clocks. So he may have benefited humanity by completing a bounty like that. His intention was obtaining "the big prize" not helping others.

I think the fact that Ging had absolutely NO interest in becoming a Triple Star Hunter (even though he MORE than qualified) was the biggest clue that the Star ranking system had nothing to do with physical strength. Cheadle is one of the physically weakest Hunters, but she's still Triple Star Hunter. Now we have no clue what their nen affinities are. Nor do we know how and what way their nen may affect or has helped them achieve their status or ranking. Some of us know more than you think Liam. Thanks for the vid tho.
