@@LotharTChipshe can’t be manipulator. He has to many restrictions to achieve the same lvl of manipulation of his target as Shalnark and Illumi. And by the way aren’t Nen Beast affinities represent Princes affinities because they were made from their hosts aura? In this case Halkenburg in enhancer. You may say it’s strange because his arrow is laying perfectly with emission but considering how big his aura combined with his followers I don’t see the big deal here. It similar how Meruem made Pouf and Youpi abilities better just because he has so much aura and talent while being in different category

@knightcommander5694 here's why I say that. He's quite definitely a logical sort and progresses at his own pace. As an example, he went to visit his father for days in advance to get the guards to relax to create the best opportunity for his little revolt. Then with a gun to his father's head and worked up his resolve his first action is to argue. His personality appears to me most strongly like a manipulator. Then we have the bow ability. The arrow itself appears a pretty clear example of an emissive attack, but what about the primary function? Well, the ability largely resembles Sayrid's ability, emissive attack hits the target, then the attacker can send consciousness into and control the target. This function is described as manipulation. And this is his first instinct. No guarantee that his instinct is his type but, it's a good pointer. As to the restrictions this ability not only controls the target, but overthrow their consciousness and inserts a third person's consciousness. Additional it has the ability to bypass most or potentially all defenses. These are plenty to excuse such conditions, even though no such excuses are required as restrictions are voluntary. As to the nen beast yes it has enhancement, but it also uses manipulation. It uses this in its memory revision, where Kurapica states that this type of ability lines up with manipulation. Knowing which comes from the Prince would be quite difficult. I'll not give a 100%, that is just my best current assessment

@@LotharTChips it’s good reasoning but it seems that you forgetting that you can use any type in your ability except specialization if you wish. Halkenburg ability is that strong because it requires other people aura. That’s why I said that if you have huge aura and good restrictions you can pretty easily use others nen-type. And while it’s not 100% confirmed, I strongly believe that nen beast nen type is the same as the princes. Plus halkenburg fit to Hisoka personally test as enhancer as well. He is very stubborn and simple. He was opened about his views and tried to make his father cancel succession war for days. It was a really big moment that made him change his narrative

That picture of the trolley problem was a modified joke one that shows the track looping around to kill everyone no matter which track it takes. It's a commentary of inevitability and total powerlessness of the person at the switch. It seems symbolic of Halkenburg's situation, where even though he might seek to change the system to prevent death, everyone dies anyway. His desire to avoid becoming the villain leads him right to it.

I always felt that the reason that Halkenburg tried to kill himself is because he didn't want to force his family to kill him. That would be inevitable if he stayed in the contest. So, if he was going to die, anyways (by refusing to fight), he may as well use his death to make a statement. It won't accomplish anything. But no one would be able to say he died because he was outplayed. Cold comfort. And it probably only matters to Halkenburg himself, but if you're going to die anyways, may as well make it known why.

@2:09 I don't think most people noticed, but I have a pretty dark theory about King Nasubi, especially when I looked at Momoze's burial and counted the coffins. I found it especially intriguing when I noticed that there were actually enough to fit all for each of the Hui Guo Rou princes. This has led me to believe that either the succession war is a farce for one reason or another, unless he would decide that he'd take a drastic shortcut out of monarchy, which I can't see happening.

I could see Tserriednich swapping into a more heroic role, hes so obviously set up as a badguy with him and Halkenburg facing off as the "last two standing" i could see Togashi posing the question, "What is worse, familiar evils or new ones?" As Tserri could represent the monarchy and succession games continuing "as normal" and Halkenburg representing the new horrors of dictatorship. In fact i think the switch will happen if/when Halkenburg possess Theta with his arrow. Tserri hates liars most of all, and Halkenburg the only prince he openly seems to like being behind it, would definitely affect him somewhat. Also i feel like that scenario is inevitable because the question "does Tserri's nen beast recognize the soul change or would it punish Theta's body as if she lied again?" And that seems like peak Togashi story exploration

I think Togashi is hinting at the idea of "control" being the key. Control on Nen, control of the guardian Nen beasts, control of the country, etc. I think the whole thing will turn when someone is able to obtain full control of their guardian Nen beast or control of/ability to destroy other's beasts. It's precisely because no one has done it before that I think that is where it will lead. I think revealing Kurapika's ability to transfer Hatsu was done when it was done for a reason. I think Halkenburg's "suicide attempt" wasn't really one and the King misinterpreted and misjudged Halkenburg's actions as so often happens in HxH. You don't go from pacifist to warlord like that. Halkenburg has likely been playing the long game and misdirecting. Everyone thinking Tserriednich has been playing him but it's actually been the opposite. Now he's trying to find the path to control everything. If he (or someone else) can take control of or destroy the guardian beasts, they win. Tserriednich's second Nen beast will either be the uno-reverse on whomever does gain that ability or they will learn from Camilla's 2nd Nen beast how to defeat Tserriednich's two beasts. Imagine if Halkenburg can upgrade his ability to transfer his guardian beast's will into other's guardian beast for example? It's just an on the fly idea, but he certainly has the will. Imagine if he can take control of Camilla's Nen beast to revive him after death instead of her, for example.

This arc has been one of the strongest narratives that I've ever experienced in the eastern literature, it's full of topics to explore, be it through theories, plot points, the worldbuild, character arcs or even very popular explaining the nen power system video format ideas that not nearly enough channels are covering the entirety of this masterpiece like Liam does. It honestly makes me wonder if people are even reading it to make such a statement, I am not hyped because Liam is talking about it, I am hyped because this manga holds itself very well even with the long hiatuses.

The biggest problem for Halkenburg is that his ability is known, which is probably the last thing you want when your ability is manipulation based. Manipulation is first come first serve, as long as the assassin going after Halkenburg is being manipulated his possession arrow is worthless, maybe even worse than worthless given the speculation that he risks his own life each shot he takes, would he die if he hit his target but it had no effect because they were already being manipulated? Halkenburg has an incredibly strong aura for someone so new to nen but that's the thing, he's new to nen, would he even know that manipulation is first come first serve? Would he be able to identify a manipulated assassin? I feel like his inexperience and recklessness will be his undoing, it will be a tragic end for him. As a side note I feel like he could possibly have the solution to the Cammy problem, if he can possession arrow her then order her suicide I don't think Cat's Name could activate, and that's why I love nen, as overpowered as an ability might seem initially there's always a work around.

After re reading the manga for the 4th time I think I can confidently say that it’s not togashis health that’s stopping the continuation of the story but the complexity of the story. When Gon and Killua were the stars it was a bit simpler cause their abilities were straight forward. Now with a complicated cast and even more complicated nen abilities, I believe it’s harder for him to write. I’m sure he will get it done eventually… but I don’t think there is a written variation of his ideas. I posted this here because I like your ideas and opinions! You’re awesome. I don't think the person inside Sumidori's body is Sumidori or Shikaku, I think it may actually be Momoze. His ability is based on sacrificing his guards (extensions of himself and his power) to resurrect the killed Princes and halt the Seed Urn Ritual. Nen arises from desire/emotions, and Halkenburg's greatest desire is to reform the Kakin Empire into a democracy and reject the Seed Urn Ritual in its entirety, which went into overdrive after Momoze's death and his father's chastising, causing him to develop a nen ability. Halkenburg of course has no idea on the inner workings of the Seed Urn Ritual with the nen inscyption chamber that utilizes the killed Princes as fuel or whatever, but his desire to (1) Reject the Seed Urn Ritual + (2) Stop anymore Princes from dying + (3) His grief over the Princes that were already killed (at the time of his ability's creation this was only Momoze) + (4) His extremely unshakable belief in his ideals feels like enough for the ability to "work itself out" and instinctually become what is necessary to satisfy those things in whatever way is possible. Halkenburg (from what I can gather) also has 14 direct bodyguards, which is coincidentally the same number of coffins in the nen inscryption chamber. It is almost as if he is doing a reversal of the Seed Urn Ritual, rather than using 14 souls to upgrade his power (society sacrificing itself for an individual, i.e. monarchy), he is removing his 14 guards and degrading his power in order to resurrect the Princes and halt the ritual (individuals sacrifing themselves for society, i.e. democracy). This also means that whatever guard who is possessing Vict (Benjamin's guard that was just recently shot with the arrow) will probably be the vessel for Sale-Sale, who was the second to die after Momoze. There is a question of whether Halkenburg's guard while possessing whoever was shot with the arrow needs to die in order to trigger a dead Prince to enter the empty vessel of their body. I think it is likely that they do as it further shows Halkenburg and his guards self-sacrifice in wanting to reject his birthright as a Royal to create a democratic society. My biggest question is (assuming this all accurate) where this will go after Halkenburg runs out of Princes to resurrect, and how he will use his power. He also will likely get weaker as this goes on, because his Guardian Spirit Beast's ability causes those deeply loyal to him to increase his and their own powers when they're in proximity to Halkenburg. As his guards sacrifice themselves, Halkenburg's own power will dwindle due to not having their Guardian Spirit pinion boosts, further showing the theme of Halkenburg's self-sacrifice for his ideals. Rather than the face-heel turn great villain of the arc, he will be the great hero with his only friend amongst the princes, Tserriednich serving as his foil by being the great villain.
