Thank you for reinforcing the fact that materials are optional in spellcraft. As someone who is disabled, I rarely have the physical stamina to sit/stand in front of my alter to perform spell work. It can be difficult for me to gather materials for it as well. My spellwork usually involves laying in bed and doing energy work through meditation. Im so glad i found your videos and read Witch In Darkness. Your words have revitalized my craft and given me new perspective. Thank you ❤

This. Video. 🙌🏻 I, like so many in our community, was so into consumerism for years thinking I needed all these crystals and herbs and candles and decks. Now that I’m older and have stopped spending so much on correspondence, I have connected deeper to the herbs I grow myself, the poppets I hand make, the rocks I pick up in nature, the bones I’ve found on my hikes, the oils I create. Another great video, and message! Thank you for doing what you do and being you, through and through 💛

About silly magic. My mother doesn’t believe in magic (at least she says so), but whenever someone she knows has a flight from or to our city (which has a really harsh winters btw), she cracks open a cold beer, drink it, puts some coins inside, shakes it while wishing for good weather and then tosses those coins out of the can in the window. And it works every single time 😅 Storm warning? No storm the next day at all. Intense fog? Next day is as clear as it can be (and then the following day it’s fog again) All her friends and acquaintances buy her beer when they want her to do this for their flights xd

Such a great video! I already have a good idea of what a spell is and how I like to cast spells, but this video would have been fantastic when I was just starting. Even as someone more advanced, this was great to watch and helped to remind me that I can be flexible and inventive with my spells.

Glad you enjoyed it. ❤ Although it's definitely a 101 question, I wanted to make a video that more advanced practitioners would like, so I'm glad I succeeded.

I love the analogy of the car (or, more generally, vehicle). And the form of the spell (candle spell, poppet, knotwork, satchet, amulet, witch's jar, etc...) is what kind of vehicle you're using. And then the things or components one incorporates are the bells and whistles for that vehicle. Things that make it smoother, faster, louder, brighter, or stronger. (Honey for sweetness, thorns for protection, blood for efficacy, etc.).

I just wanted to say thank you for your book. I finally got around to getting a copy of Rebel Witch when I was at Watkins a couple of weeks back. (Signed - a lovely surprise!) I didn’t expect it to completely rock my world with new information, I’m the same age as you and 26 years into my practice, but I expected a fun read. It was fun, but it also really injected the enthusiasm and sense of exploration back into me. There are a couple of things I have since realised about my point of view and way of doing things that make me smile, and I’m grateful for it. I also couldn’t help but imagine giving a copy to my inner fourteen year old who felt that extra something inside of herself and was so eager to learn, but who was stuck, pre-internet, between the stodgy old 70’s Wiccan stuff down the library, and the other sanctimonious rants about rules of three in the mind, body and spirit section of Waterstones; and who felt utterly lost, constantly being told she was “doing it wrong”. Reading it and imagining her response was a healing - and really fizzy - experience. Should my younger cousins or my friend’s kids show an interest one day, I will reach straight for another copy to give to them, because all that joy and power and sense of adventure - thats in them too, and its whatever they choose to make of it. Looking forward to picking up Witch In Darkness next week. Thank you. I appreciate you.

Much of the workings I do involve the Elder Futhark, or inscriptions in Theban, and Peter J Carroll himself said something about doing a working at a bus stop and letting the universe drop away but for a message or sigil held in your mind. I do enjoy putting /that/ into practice. All part of my long journey back to the Light, and to reclaiming my strange, witchy identity. As always, cariad, much love and Blessed Be. ❤

9:29 Loved this segment 🖤 I don't use any tools on the physical plane, and the symbols I work with are all mental. I feel like Imagination is everything. The only "physical" thing that I personally value highly, in terms of spiritual significance, are tattoos. The spells I do are super quick too, and 90% of the time I cast them outdoors 🌲 I've never had a successful result when doing magick in a confined space, my mind feels restricted I guess so it sabotages the spell .. got to have that air element , it's a must 😅

A "spell" is a firmly rooted belief that you, the spell maker, conjured up the necessary workings of the universe to do as you so chose. Or, it's a psychological way of being in "coincidence".

i’m struggling with the time i have to cast spells lately. i’m a broom closet witch and my partner is ALWAYS home and he is so needy 😭 I need to start improvising. I might take a page out of your book and start making collages. I’ll just say I’m working on an art project but really I’ll be casting spells and maybe I can hide some sigils in it too. I wanna do a loud elaborate spell so badly 😭 maybe I’ll do it on the astral before bed. i literally took 2 weeks off for the holidays so I can have time alone to do spell work, and yesterday he was like “surprise! i took those two weeks off too” lol I was like nOoOoOoOoOoO

yuss! give us dresden dolls and eat it up 🍰 I enjoy your car metaphor,, it lets me know you see magick as something that MOVES, moves -you- and I have to agree due to being neurodivergent,, I've always been drawn to minimalism in my magick ((I really can get off track when correspondences and working with our solar system and beyond comes into play)) and it really doesn't come natural to me words - words are my special interest, my obsession, and so I've long thought of them as being necessary for a spell ((and I, like many of us even when we were young, got my shit done,, made my fantasies come true, by saying something aloud - that, and some really intense feeling was all I seemed to need I made the healing decision a few years ago to practice my powers how I did when I was a kid and I have never looked back thank you for mentioning that some of us play stripped down instruments to make our music - I felt seen

I needed to be reminded that spellcraft for important things doesn't have to be full tilt with ALL the things. I get excited and cobble together an elaborate set-up then I get overwhelmed or imposter syndrome rears its ugly head. Sometimes you just gotta pull a card that is meaningful to the purpose and light the fucking candle.
