Witchcraft for Yule, the rites rituals and traditions of the Winter Solstice

Yule is such a special time of year, we haven't quite got to being 'over winter' and are enjoying the beauty of the changing seasons. This is reflected in the myriad of traditions and rituals that surround the sabbat of Yule and how pagans, Wiccans and witches alike celebrate this joyful season.
I love the candles, the cosiness and the snuggles - my house is getting colder and so we all pile onto the sofa and snuggle like puppies for warmth. The cosy satisfaction and calm happiness is then offset by the brilliance of the parties. What more does any witch want. Merry Yule and may you receive everything your heart desires.

Bonfire. Mulled Wine. Invoke the Earth Mother and her son the Oak King who is conceived at Winter Solstice. Honor the Holly King. Make decorations out of Holly or decorate a Holly bush (don't cut it down). Make Ivy crowns. Drinking mead. Yule-themed pot luck. Tarot readings/divination for the New Year. Bang pots & pans with wooden utensils to drive out negative spirits. There's actually quite a few ideas in this video.

I know you'll know but It's worth mentioning that unless it's part of your cultural practice try to avoid using White Sage like that you pictured as it's overuse by many of us across the world has lead to a lot of it being illegally harvested, over farmed etc. Of course if you grow it yourself go for it I guess, it's more the fact buying it, even from reputable vendors, still increases the demand for it and there is really only so much supply that can be done ethically.
