If you are banished to the Exiled Lands to farm relics, why crucify you. Are there groups that free the condemned in hopes they would join their faction? According to the opening cinematic, Raza faced the sandstorm and beastery if Conan hadn't cut her down. Seems most would die of affixation on the cross early, so what is the point of hauling someone to the exiled lands just to see most die? A weeding out of the weak perhaps? Seems the Exiled Lands doesn't need the help lol

You point out one of the main reasons I still play Conan. The building is fun and managing my village can occupy many evenings. But, its the rich story line and characters I grew up with that keep me playing. Some how I feel involved with the story. I know these people. The stories you provide add greatly to my experience. Thanks and success in the new year.

Corruption in Conan Exiles is like radiation poisoning in comics: it both gives you cancer AND superpowers! On a more serious tone, corruption does kinda function like some kind of radiation to which the Giant Kings were naturally immune to, that is to say that this "corruption" is in fact a trace of the Outer Dark which can influence the weajer minds of humans while virtually leaving the Giant Kings unaffected (as they were already attuned with sorcery). On a related sidenote, you should remember that the sorcery we practiced since "Age Of Sorcery" was referred by Mek-Kamoses as a "new brand of sorcery typical exclusive to the Exiled Lands": even the Giant Kings called the human version of spellmaking "sorcery" while their own spells and magic were called "sciences"; perhaps the Giant Kings and humans tapped into different sources of magic to practice their brand of sorcery respectively, this would mean that this "corruption" is what we humans are able to tap into because it affects us both negatively and positively, whereas the Giant Kings are not affected by it at all, neither by its negative effects on their body nor by its positive enhancement of sorcerous capabilities. That is to say: that's what I think might be ONE explanation, just a theory.

I always found it odd that the summoning place wasn't filled with corruption.
@Eradicati0nnАй бұрын
It certainly is a bit odd, though it might be a balancing choice, as it's in a fairly early-game location. It does perhaps imply that the Yoggites there have managed to cleanse the old magic, but have never established their own connection to the Outer Dark
@adammyers3453Ай бұрын
@@Eradicati0nnMy theory is that Yog consumes a part of it in the same way the other gods do (particularly set and Ymir).

this really points to sorcery being a trap in the exile land's. consider that the ability to use sorcery in the exile land's (since the bracelet stops you from using it nomally) is tied to the tome of kurak, and if you don't know were kurak got that tome... well he got it from a not very good or reliable source but and elder god known for double dealings and betrayals that you don't see coming till it's to late.
@ceu160193Ай бұрын
Not really. We only need that tome to learn spells. In fact you don't even have to carry it with you to cast spells. Sorcery is borrowing power from outer dark, and in exchange you have to offer some payment - usually in blood of victims.

An excellent and detailed description of what is corruption, well done Sir! Have you ever done any research on who the "Arena Champion" is?
@Eradicati0nnАй бұрын
Thank you Vitticeps, glad you enjoyed it! I did some very brief research a year or two ago when I thought she could be the Kinscourge's child, but I don't think there was much information about her at all. SnowHunterAK helped to develop the dungeon, and he said there wasn't a lot of time for lore writing, but there might be something we can extrapolate

@@Eradicati0nn Awesome! I'm mainly guessing, but she is just a human champion, or another Giant King/ Human hybrid. Locked away when the Warmaker closed the arena at the Sinkhole.

Great lore video into corruption

Thanks for the material. I can't recall if Howard's books mention anything similar to corruption occurring in the game. I think this is simply the way to interpret the influence of magic on people who were obsessed with it. However, in the game it adopted a more visible and tangible medium, which may not be liked by canon fanatics, but for the purposes of the game it is a very interesting element. Howard didn't talk directly about magical corruption, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in his world. He did not mention oxygen in the air, but we can agree that oxygen occurs in conans lore. As for ways to remove corruption, my only opinion is different from yours regarding dancers. In my version of understanding the game world, I came up with the idea that only people with magical talent, which manifests itself through shamanistic dance, are able to cleanse the aura of the environment from corruption. Thanks to this, they become someone special to me, and not just a drunk thug in a inn who suddenly wants to dance in the middle of the room, thanks to which corruption seems to disappear from those who look at him.

Champions leggings are enchanted to cleanse and/or protect from corruption. The magical equivalent of a lead apron.
@patrickmace5340Ай бұрын
Honestly i tie corruption to sorcery and to the time of the disjunction causing what it has. A punishment as much as a boon. Something meant to limit humanity. But could also tap into large destructive capabilities. Something feared and guarded. And ultimately rediscovered by humanity after so long. As both a weapon and even at times as more a shackle to the exiled lands.

On Digimon the black obelisk dark towers would cause the digimon to corrupt and turn to slaves, it also caused the good guys to weaken severely to where they couldn’t digivolve. When someone used a dark source to power a base the leaking corruption was causing a warp in the digital world and since the black obelisks dark towers were in place this atomic explosion would have affected the real world as the borders were weakened by the black obelisk dark towers

My theory is that corruption is result of magic being somewhat incompatible with humans, since Giant-Kings and serpentmen seem to suffer no ill side effects from using magic. Or simply result of human's lack of experience in using it.
@Eradicati0nnАй бұрын
I think that certainly makes sense. I think Corruption probably had some effect on the Giant Kings, but likely not a negative one, though there's no evidence for or against that particular point. They, and the Serpentmen, are members/descended from the Elder Races though, so they would likely experience corruption differently
@ceu160193Ай бұрын
@@Eradicati0nn In favor of that theory is existence of cursed weapons - it makes no sense to make powerful weapon, that harms it's owner, and all of those weapons are initially made by Giant-Kings. It's safe to assume, that in their hands cursed weapon is more of a "blessed", buffing and boosting it's owner.

Outside of three things (a brokenly potent perk synergy, the essential pet perks re-roll pot and the fast travel gates) Sorcery really feels like a hollow shell that doesn't even come close to living up to the hype it had. Lots of flash and fluff with negligable substance.
@bedlem55Ай бұрын
I couldn't disagree more
@ceu160193Ай бұрын
@@bedlem55 They are correct, though - sorcery does have utility uses, but that's where it ends. You do not have anything to deal direct damage with it, NPCs constantly have stronger sorcery, that players can't learn(such as protective bubble shields, summoning phantoms with actual damage, even mind control, like in Freya's questline) and you still need to have heavy corruption to use your strongest spells, despite them not measuring up to what NPCs can use.
