Hey, this happened to a friend of mine. He used the n-word online and a lot of people started bombarding his company page with negative comments. The owner had to make a public statement saying he was removed from the job. The funny part is that he didn't like to show his face, so nobody noticed he was black, nor did they notice that he didn't actually fire himself from his own company. After the apology, the popularity of the company soared. He eventually told everyone he was black, and people were even more supportive. People are really stupid, man. I feel like this video is trying to justify Kevin Hart making light of psychologically abusing his child. I'm not sure if they content creator realizes that nobody is concerned with the fact that Kevin Hart isn't very funny or hasn't been funny historically. What they were concerned about was him being hired for a prestigious job that many comedians would have killed for, while having a past where he repeatedly has tried to make (bad) jokes at a community he doesn't belong to. It would be the same as me making jokes about lanky unfuckable guys while not belonging to your community. (Just kidding, I'd totally fuck you, but I wouldn't date you.)

Genuinely one of the best analogies for this sort of thing, as well as the skit not being too snarky or assholish but just making entirely true points
@Thalanox5 жыл бұрын
I do think it's a bit of a stretch. There's nothing wrong with offensive jokes. That's what a lot of well-known and well-respected comedians are known for. Breaking the rules. Think of George Carlin, for example. Offensive isn't a "bad" thing that needs to be changed. It's one approach among many.
@Thalanox5 жыл бұрын
@@MyWORDisntGospel We're not talking about behaviours, we're talking about how good the analogy is. How well old, mediocre drawings, something of objective quality, compares to old jokes or statements, which are about subjectivity, not quality.

@Thalanox5 жыл бұрын
@@ceshmate1953 That is an example of [old thing] used as a justification for [current action]. I am saying that [old thing] is not equivalent to [old statement or opinion]. A [thing] MIGHT be an opinion or just anything someone has put out (like an old drawing), but an old drawing of mediocre quality is not equivalent to a [statement], which implies a specific train of thought. Skills can improve, but that is a linear progression. Opinions may change, but that's dependent on other things. Opinions do not follow a linear progression of "bad" to "good" like drawing skill does. There are objectively bad drawings out there, but this "badness" refers to "technically inept". The "bad" in "bad opinions" does not refer to "technically inept", but rather to "I do not personally agree with this". I tried to make it as hard to misunderstand as possible. Do you understand what I'm saying now?
@dig86345 жыл бұрын
@@Thalanox I mostly agree with you. It is not a perfect analogy, but I believe it to be irrelevant. No analogy could be perfect without directly describing the thing it is an analogy of, at which point it is no longer an analogy. The difference between an improving skill and an old opinion are so small, especially if you think of human morals as constantly improving with new information and experiences. There is however another fault in the ananlogy, which is the difference between relation. The offence in the skit is directly related to the job he gets fired from. Graphic design for a graphic designer, while Gunn was fired for old jokes, when he is not really a comedian when working for Disney, he is a director (of potentially funny movies of course). This makes the offence even more separate from the job he gets fired from, which makes up in my opinion for the difference between skill and opinion.

Yeah, except that's not at all what happened. Kevin Hart has made horrible comments with regards to homosexuality, using both a tone and style that shows he isn't joking. He repeatedly said he would disown his son if he was gay, and that he would consider himself a failure as a father if his son were gay. When asked to apologize, he gave a head fake towards contrition without actually saying the words "regret", "sorry", "mistake" or anything similar. When asked to ACTUALLY apologize, he lied and said he did. This on top of numerous comments in support of domestic violence and his record of infidelity don't look good. @dorkmax70736 жыл бұрын
Kevin Hart told some jokes where the punchline is that he wouldn’t want a gay son. Nobody really gives a shit about what Kevin Hart thinks so it got ignored. Kevin Hart tweets daily for two years calling people fags and faggots. Just because you used to say it back then too doesn’t mean it was ok, just that you were ignorant at the time. Kevin Hart says multiple times seemingly not in comedy formula or for some reason devoid of any set up or punch lines that he would hit his son if he caught him playing with dolls. Really, not cool. Kevin Hart gets called on it, and in a RS interview in 2015 says he wouldn’t say those jokes anymore because “people get too offended these days” but THEN in the same article proceeds to say he would be a failure of a father if his son turned out gay. Keep in mind fathers have no ability to change their child’s sexuality once determined. Kevin’s statement only works if you think gay people are lesser anyway. Failed as a father? So gay children are inherently failures? Pretty shitty. For some reason people took the above 2015 as an apology? Despite him not apologising. Around that time he also got dragged for his movie Get Hard which had some reaaally questionable jokes but hey it’s a dumb comedy so nobody really gives a shit. Kevin Hart gets hired to host the Oscars. People remember the shit he said and didn’t apologise for, so they bring it back and a whole new audience sees his tweets and so-called “jokes”. There is backlash and the Oscars give him a call and say hey we still want you to host but please apologise for those tweets, we have a big LGBT following and it’s not a good look. Kevin says he’ll “pass on the apology” because he “already addressed it” (not apology) and he says people should just focus on positivity and be happy for him. He didn’t express any positivity towards gay people up until that point so you can see why gay people may not want to send any positivity his way. Kevin “triumphantly” steps down from hosting and reddit says he’s a champion of free speech and that he should’ve kept the job (that he wasn’t fired from) because “fuck outrage culture”. Kevin then flips on his previous refusal and apologises on twitter after stepping downmobile.twitter.com/kevinhart4real/status/1070906075812118529

It blows my mind this dude still gets work and he is just really annoying on screen. The first few big movies he was in we're ok because the jokes were all mostly written for him in the script. Once he became super popular he had the power and the producers the confidence to basically just let him "riff" through lots of the film. When this happened his movies became worse and worse as he became more and more annoying and basically just ranted a bunch of utter bullshit. He has that film with the rock where he is in the van with the FBI and is supposed to be funny scared and literally says something along the lines of "I'm not ok, in fact poo came out, like alot of poo. Tons of poo, the poo all just came out. There is no poo left inside me because I'm so scared the poo all just came out!!!" In what world is that even slightly funny, I'm not even the person who thinks it's to vulgar to be funny. Even though he literally just says poo. I love vulgar comedy, it's just fucking stupid. That would mean the end of capitalism. Twitter mods (and mobs in general) have power by being large groups of consumers. Due to over-legislation, corporations have more power than they should. There are arguments ongoing as we speak, about if you actually own the device you are likely reading this on, or if you are merely leasing it. They have so much power that they an retroactively claim your personal possessions that you legally bought. Mobs like twitter, are the first line of defence against such things. Outrage culture isn't limited to SJW's. James Gunn is a perfect counter example. Obviously, it's bad when anyone does it---it's not just the SJW's, that's all, my dude! [edit: moved the "not" and "just" to make the position more clear]
@piranhaplantX6 жыл бұрын
@@Avenger222 I agree that James Gunn probably shouldn't have been fired for edgy comments. But the problem is that the SJW crowd showed that you can weaponize outrage and ancient tweets to get people fired. So it's only natural that you have similar asshats on the right firing back. SJW's normalized this nonsense and this small contingent of the right are just utilizing a new tool. Funny enough, a lot of centrists/classical liberals/conservatives criticize these right wing types as well. We call them right wing SJW's, because they do the same shit sjw's do. The difference is that left wing SJW's tend to hold more power, and have more sway over mainstream media.
@Avenger2226 жыл бұрын
@@piranhaplantX True. I can't argue with that. Much like the "report" functions on sites. The alt-right / skeptic communities make full use of brigading reports to get their "enemies" banned. In theory its a good idea, but authoritarians will take full advantage of it. If we can joke about anything, without spreading or supporting speech that incites violence and discrimination---that'd be great. I honestly think we'd be better off if racists just embraced their racism instead of dog whistling and pretending "lol, just jokes". Then there'd also be a whole lot less pressure on trying to sensor jokes/conversations, I feel.
@nunyabisnass11416 жыл бұрын
I'm leaning more and more toward the sjw counter outrage as being done to death lately. I remember back in 08 or so, most people were on the fence about whether someone like a teacher should be fired or not because they were an elementary school teacher had private nonlewd photos on facebook of their vacation in Cancun, or a highschool teacher that did gay porn a decade before they even became a teacher. When it was empoyers sniffing through your info and demanding to be online friends, everyone was flipping their shit. But when ordinary private citizens do it, its just public outrage and we need to protect their fragile sensebilities. People of similar dispositioms can't even agree on which actions should be punishable, every opinion for no good reason deserves recognition and consideration. The issue i see there is internet mobs weren't always this organised making the actual population seem far higher than they really are, and now everyone is afraid, and no one knows how to be a desent person anymore because theres no more trust in the common languange of basic manners. Its to the the point now where i feel critical thinking, ethics, information validation, and basic discourse need to be manditory junior high courses. Shit this could go on forever. Congrats on the ruby project.
@piranhaplantX6 жыл бұрын
@@Avenger222 I'm pretty much a free speech absolutist. Anything short of directly inciting violence, or common sense shit like not shouting fire in a crowded room should be allowed. Because not allowing true bigots to speak openly just shunts them to their private echo chambers, where they reaffirm themselves, and each other, further radicalizing these groups. It's better to drag them out in the open, where their ideas can be challenged. Which requires us to be able to talk about certain subjects. Not to mention the fact that what's offensive is different for everyone. Trying to have adult conversations, about real issues, sometimes requires saying things that someone may take as offensive. Free speech necessarily includes the right to offend, due to this.

If someone is super racist and homophobic but genuinely change their way and apologize for their views, people will still hate you. Because for them they dont care what you DO they care about what you DID. The fact and the bottomline is it all comes down to your parents and your upbringing. Parents will tell you how to behave and think and you only have them and few outside sources to form your own opinion.
