What forms do I need to submit when sponsoring my spouse or common-law partner from outside of Canada?
You need to fill out the following forms when sponsoring your spouse or common-law partner who is living outside of Canada:
• IMM 1344 Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking, signed by both you and your spouse or common-law partner;
• IMM 5481 Sponsorship Evaluation or an IMM 1283 Financial Evaluation if your spouse or common-law partner has dependent children included in this application who have children of their own;
• IMM 5540 Sponsor Questionnaire.
Your spouse or common-law partner has to fill out:
• IMM 0008 Generic Application Form for Canada;
• IMM 0008 DEP Additional Dependents/Declaration;
• IMM 5406 Additional Family Information;
• IMM 5669 Schedule A - Background/Declaration;
• IMM 5490 Spouse/Common-law Partner Questionnaire;
Both of you should fill out:
• IMM 5476 Use of a Representative, if applicable;
• IMM 5443 Document Checklist.

Hello, thank you for answering my last question.... I'm a bit confused now about conjugal relationship, I have been living with my Filipina partner for the past 5 years in the PH's ad we have a daughter that was born in 2015... The application says I can't apply has "common law" because I'm not living in Canada, and "conjugal" states if you have lived off and on for the past 12 months. On the form they are asking "A written statement attesting to the fact that you and your sponsor are unable to marry or live together and explain why?" This is like a catch 22... So, should I still fill out the application as "My conjugal partner"? Thx

I am only the admin of this channel and not one of the consultants so I don't know for sure but are you sure you can only be common law if you are living within Canada? We strongly recommend one of you be in Canada, because the government doesn't normally approve applications when the sponsor is not in Canada, but I'm not sure that invalidates your common law relationship if you've been living common law for 5 years. "Conjugal" is meant for people prevented from marrying (i.e. people in same sex relationships in countries where that is illegal). If you cannot apply common law, you have to get married to sponsor your partner.

Hello,,, nice video BTW;) I have one question, I hope you could answer it;) It's about "Dependent Children". I'm sponsoring my common law partner and we have 1 daughter together, our child just got her Canadian Citizenship. So, dependent children would not be applicable for my partner since our child is already a Canadian, correct? No need to fill out the IMM 1283? This process could be very confusing;(
@immigroup
@immigroup 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes, you are correct, your child does not need to be included as a dependent child because she's a citizen.

Thank you for your valuable information. I have a doubt in question asked in Relationship form: Q2: Do you have any relatives living in Canada (including uncles,aunts,cousins). Do not list family members listed on Additional family information form. My concern is I have a sibling who lives in Canada so as per this question do I need to include his name in this answer? (His name and address is listed in additional family info form section C)
@immigroup

If he's in the additional family section, you do not need to include him again.

+ΓΙΩΡΓΟΣ ΚΟΥΝΤΟΥΡΗΣ HI there, I responded to your post in our forum earlier today. The answer to question 2 is absolutely not - you are expected to settle in Canada as soon as possible. You are getting sponsored for permanent residence, which means you need to live in Canada.

Gemma Urbanozo You want the IMM 5491. But the document checklists are just so that you can make sure you have all the forms CIC requires and that they can tick them off.

Hello IMMIgroup,. I am living now in Canada as Permanent Resident while my husband is in our home country, thats why I want to sponsor him. I would just like to ask if his medical exam will be included in the application package. Can it cause delays or can he just wait for the response from the CIC office for his medical exam? thank you.
@immigroup

+april rollo Are you doing outland or inland? Outland requires a medical exam up front, I believe. Inland they'll request it later.

Hi IMMIGROUP INC. I have submitted my application to sponsor my spouse. For the sponsor assessment it will take approximately 64-65 days. Just wanted to ask does that include the whole processing time. Does that time start on the date that the application package is received at the CIC office ? or is it when CIC finally looks at the application? thank you once again
@immigroup
@immigroup 8 жыл бұрын
+Jyoti Bhatt It's from when they receive it, so it's basically two months from the day it arrives at the CIC office. But that's not the time-consuming part. It's the sponsored spouse part that takes forever.

Hi there! Great video. I am sponsoring my spouse who lives outside of Canada to become a Permanent Resident of Canada. I am looking at the document checklist for the sponsor (form Imm 5491). Under Number 2 it says (photocopy of the completed sponsorship agreement-1344b signed by you and the co-signer. I cannot locate form 1344b anywhere. I also do not have a co-signer so this does not apply to me I think. Is this correct?

Hi I am sponsoring my wife, and will be sending the application from Argentina. Is it Is it necessary to send medical information, if so would I have to translate it to English? Do we both have to do the medical exam, also the same with the police informs, I have done it for her but is it also necessary for me too?
@immigroup
@immigroup 8 жыл бұрын
+pablo rossi You have to translate anything that's not already in English or French. Since you're eligible to sponsor you do not have to go through the same processes as your sponsored spouse. You will be evaluated using different criteria. Hope this helps.

I so much appreciate your helpful information Immigroup.May I please know whether my husband has to sign the immigration forms if I'm sponsoring him to Canada (I'm living in Canada,he lives outside Canada) yet he lives far away from me. And how much is the total fees,if I'm to sponsor only my husband to Canada (no Dependants). Thanks alot
@immigroup
@immigroup 9 жыл бұрын
Sarah Byateesa IMM 1344 must be signed by both of you so that form will have to be sent from you to him and back again. He will have to sign the forms specifically for his part of the application and send them to you. Fees: $550 for the application and $490 for the Right of Permanent Residence fee, so CAD$1040 altogether, provided you are not paying for assistance with the application. Hope this helps.

Great information. My son would like to sponsor his wife and 19 months old son to Canada but is a bit confused about the medical examination and police clearance requirements. When sponsoring your spouse from Guyana do they need to get an upfront medical examination and police clearance done before any submission of the initial application? Also do you need to get police clearance and medical examination for the 19 months old baby? What will be the amount of fees that he needs to pay to send in the application to be processed for both of them.
@immigroup
@immigroup 8 жыл бұрын
+Bhola Nauth It depends whether it's an "inland" or "overseas" application. It can be delayed for "inland" but not for overseas. The baby needs the medical and police checks too, sorry to say. The fees are available on cic.gc.ca www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/fees.asp

+Immigroup Inc Thank you for your quick response. The sponsorship is overseas. His wife resides in Guyana. I am sorry but I am still not clear whether she and the baby needs to get their medical done and send it to him in canada before he can submit his application for sponsorship. ...or he can submit the application and CIC will assess his application and then send a request letter to her have the Medical Examination done. Please advise.
@immigroup
@immigroup 8 жыл бұрын
+Bhola Nauth Hi again, I may have misread the situation. Is the baby your grandson? Do you know if that baby is Canadian? Because if the baby is Canadian (i.e. was born to your son after he became Canadian, provided he himself didn't become Canadian through "descent") then the baby doesn't need to be sponsored.
