I wish you would've done this a year sooner before I bought my Novi 1000 and put the microsquirt in. Lol I honestly loved the way my car ran with the auto speed density computer. Good job. I still say to lower the lower VE table in the tune by 20% or so, leave the upper VE as is though because it’s already dialed in. You’ll be good to go with the FMU . I'm having trouble with a 87 gt speed density, I'm getting ready to do gt40 heads, b303 cam, 65 throttle body and explorer upper lower. Right now I'm running e7 heads with an unknown cam and it runs like he'll sometimes and sometimes it's like starving for fuel or hesitating or missing. I want to get this running well before I swap everything. New fuel pump? Or could it be the cam making the speed density throwing everything off? Also where could i order a chip for speed density?

@Dynodon642 жыл бұрын
Drop the stock fuel pressure, it won't change how much the FMU raises it. The FMU is boost related, it will always give you the same peak fuel pressure at the same boost level. It restricts the fuel returning to the tank, it doesn't matter what the base pressure is. By the way I live in Girard Pa, 30 minutes from you.
@Neomustangs2 жыл бұрын
Ya we messed with that. Responded well.
@robertelmo77362 жыл бұрын
@@Neomustangs I'll give you my two cents...put a bigger injector in it, turn it to 12 pounds of boost, and I think your timing is way too high. 10 degrees on a stock distributor is STOCK timing, we used to knock 2 degrees out for every 50hp worth of nitrous, I would figure at least 4 degrees need to be PULLED OUT for this combo? Am I missing something? Oh yeah, your dyno buddy needs a flashlight, and turn it on if your A/F goes into the 13's at more than 3500 rpm lol...then you can let out of it you psycho.

I've always been a carb guy myself, I just can't understand the timing curve on this car. Do you know or can explain what timing would be at certain boost? I know you were talking about it in the video but that was just base timing not really relevant to timing at a certain boost level for my application. Any help would be greatly appreciated, keep up the great work brother.
@bluecollarfox9162 жыл бұрын
I’ve never heard of trying this with a Ford injector but I know the ls 5.3 injectors can be “decapped” and then double checked for flow rate and they function like a 60# injector. I’m running them on my turbo nova. Been fine but I also use the terminator x to tune it.
@Neomustangs2 жыл бұрын
wow didnt know that.

@@Neomustangs yea you pop the cap off then grind the little metal restrictors off the injector exposing a bigger valve. Let’s that baby flow allllll the fuel haha. KZbin it. There’s videos all over.

"I love blowing shit up" - 😁 that was funny. Is the stock timing on speed density that conservative that you can still add more timing? Or is your fuel octane helping? Very cool stuff. It will be interesting once you start messing with bin editor to see what the computer is doing during all this testing.
@Neomustangs2 жыл бұрын
Ya i think we could have added more timing however timing is where we get in trouble. Boost requires more fuel due to larger volume of air. So its a catch 22 i think we found a sweet spot.

You know that it's a well balanced setup when it makes more torque than horsepower. The 302W is an awesome and reliable engine, but with only 302 cubic inches it's never been a torque monster, so when you're making over 400 wheel torque at 6.5 psi, that's a damn good setup for a stock internals block.
