@@jnashb you'll see... since djent was a more known thing in metal, the progressive metal world took inspiration in bands such as AAL and Polyphia (to give strong examples). Metal is in a good time in actuality, but it isn't what it was in the 2000's or in the 80's...

If this is metalcore then metalcore is unrecognizable to me. Metalcore used to mean something All That Remains, As I Lay Dying or Bullet For My Valentine. If this qualifies as that then I feel like labels have lost all meaning at this point. Maybe this is just what it's like to get old :/
@MaximusAdonicus10 ай бұрын
This is the "evolution" of metalcore, I guess it's techcore... Man, I already hated metalcore, but at least they had songs! This techcore shitz is just guitar exercises with every band doing the exact same thing 😫
@Returnality10 ай бұрын
@@MaximusAdonicus It's fallen into the same trap that old metalcore did with every band sounding the same. That's not to say that there aren't good standout bands in these genres, but they're getting rarer and rarer.
@MaximusAdonicus10 ай бұрын
@@Returnality I just like my good ol' heavy metal, thrash, power metal and melodic death, where there's still great songs and MEMORABLE riffs! 🤘
@jnashb9 ай бұрын
Na, I wouldn't call it metal-core personally. IMO I'd call it closer to melodic-prog. It's not for everyone, for sure. I appreciate you giving it a listen . As I Lay Dying is a big reason why I picked up a guitar in the first place. The main riff in "Confined" ....🫰🏻... so sick.......one of the reasons those riffs hit so f**kin hard is because it was new/unique at the time. I hate to say it because it's one of the greatest riff ever IMO, but if "Confined" came out today, I'm sure it wouldn't get a fraction of the attention as it did back in 05. and back then I'm sure there were some old school metal heads that were like "what is this crap? wtf is happening to metal?"... but, music has to evolve to be different. The peak metalcore days will always have a big place in my heart 100%. but I digress. Thanks again for giving it a listen though! Much love
