mich nervt die Überheblichkeit vieler Deutscher, dass sie glauben, sie wären so gut in vielem und der deutsche Weg wäre meist der richtige oder fortschrittlichste. Wehe ich schreib mal im Internet, dass die Deutschen eigentlich in dem und dem Punkt gar nicht so toll sind, wie sie glauben und dass sie in der Welt gar nicht so eine große Rolle spielen, wie sie glauben. Jaaaa! Total einverstanden! Aber auf der anderen Seite habe ich vor kurzem in einem Kaffee ein kostenloses Glas Wasser mit meinem Orangensaft gekriegt. Aber ja, in Restaurants ist es für mich immer anstrengend. Ich trinke viel Wasser, und ich muss immer darauf aufpassen, dass ich nicht mehr für Wasser als für Pizza (oder irgendetwas anderes) ausgebe! :D

Hier in Japan haben wir vielen Toiletten, die können wir kostenlos benutzen, und das ist sehr normal. Wenn ich in Deutschland bin, nervt das mich am meisten.

Also ich wohne seit 5 Jahren in Japan und es gibt überall Toilettenpapier und auch normale Toiletten. Außer vielleicht mal auf dem Land. :)

@@AndersGehtsdochauch Trozdem habe fast alles Toilettenpapier, einige Toilette im Park gegen einen bösen Streich keine Papier habe, laut googles(als Japaner weiß ich das nicht). Leider muss ich sagen, das war von ihren Unglück gekommen.😞

Jaroussky Philippe japanische Toilette sind die Beste. Und ich weiß nicht, wie alle Toilette, sogar die, in sehr irrelevanten Orten stehen, unglaublich sauber gehalten sind. Es kann nicht nur sein, dass sie regalmässig gereinigt sind. Die japanische Rücksichtnahme spielt da auch eine große Rolle!

@@mannahsb Oh man. Das ist was, was mich an Dtl. nervt. Leute, die nicht wissen wie man richtig einkauft und versuchen an der Kasse einzupacken. Dabei könnte es so einfach sein. Einfach die Ware nach der Kassiererin wieder in den Wagen legen, bezahlen und in Ruhe in den Vorraum des Supermarktes an den Einpacktisch gehen und dort seine Tasche einräumen. Das spart Zeit, Stress und man hält niemanden unnötig auf.

Mich nervt es, dass man ständig Angst haben muss etwas falsch zu machen und man dann auf der Straße von irgendwelchen unbekannten Leuten angemeckert oder belehrt wird. Ansonsten ist Deutschland eigentlich ein tolles Land.

ich bin der gleichen Meinung. Man muss immer vorsichtig sein z.B darf kein Handy dabei haben, wenn man Fahrrad fährt, obwohl er zur Zeit nicht fährt und einfach da steht . Mein Freund hat deswegen schonmal Strafe bekommen.

Genau diese Belehrungen müssen aber stattfinden, weil auf den Straßen viel zu viele Leute völlig gedankenlos herumlaufen und wohl glauben, dass sie sich alles erlauben können, insbesondere Dritte zu behindern oder den Straßenverkehr zu gefährden.

@@verrengoeij2763 Es ist doch mittlerweile hinreichend häufig durch die Rechtsprechung geklärt worden, wann man mit ein Fahrrad so verwendet, dass es als Fahrt anzusehen ist. Und das ist eben genau dann der Fall, wenn sich das Fahrrad zwischen den Beinen des Fahrers befindet, so dass er sofort losfahren könnte. Jemand, der sein Fahrrad neben den Beinen schiebt, fährt nicht, auch wenn sich das Fahrrad bewegt; hierfür müsste er aufsteigen. Die von Ihnen geschilderte polizeiliche Willkür besteht also keineswegs.

1. people are crazy about planning every part of their life months in advance, so hard to do anything spontaneously 2. most things are closed on Sunday 3. in the service industry, the level of service is very bad compared to the fee charged 4. an appointment is needed for everything 5. there is a very strong hesitation to try anything new and experimental 6. you still need to pay by cash at a lot of places because card is not accepted 7. There is a lot of bureaucracy in Germany 8. Acceptance of digital technology in day to day life is very less. Rather than sending emails, physical letters are preferred, rather than telephone or a video call, personal appointments are preferred, rather than taking notes on laptop, physical note making in a notebook is preferred, rather than a digital calendar, a physical diary is preferred. so on and so forth. but even with all these things, I still love this country and appreciate the many good things that Deutschland offers. It is a truly amazing country !!!

Yes to all of this! Especially the whole appointment situation and bureaucracy. The fact that in order to set up a bank account at Sparkasse, I had to go to the bank and make an appointment for another day just to set up my account totally threw me off. But you also have to register with the city first before you can open an account....so many twists and turns!

2. is not really a negative. You don‘t need to have shops open everyday of the week. It is a guaranteed day off for most people (in regards of making plans) and those who decide to work on Sundays will get paid more than on a regular working day. Sure it‘s unusual when you are not used to shops being closed on Sundays, but I believe the benefits of that by far outweigh the negative aspects 6. is a culture aspect. It‘s also not terrible. I mean how much time does it consume to grab some cash and in cities you can pay with card everywhere. Also it guarantees some anonymity. No one will be able to tell where you have spend your money, when you have paid with cash. The only thing I don‘t really like are the 1-5 cent coins. No one needs those. 4. No not really. An appointment just cuts waiting time, which is honestly a time saver.

Thank you for naming everything I find annoying as well! Having to pay in cash at so many places, everything being closed on Sundays and the internet being slow and expensive. Maybe Germany was an impressive country 30 years ago, but it is really outdated today.

I suddenly started hating all things digital preferring physical calendar and dairy. I hate carrying cash every where but some times it's better not to let the banks know about my shopping , history by using the card. I'm not even from Germany. I think I am getting old . I think Sunday, is Holiday, not just in Germany but in almost all countries.😝😂

Gabro Ego Well, I'm German and I always see people complaining about little things in Germany. I also perceive many Germans are pessimistic and often need to be reminded even though there are problems and mistakes made by the government we still should be grateful to live here. Perhaps you made some different experiences here in Germany, otherwise I believe u are wrong.

Das stimmt. Versuch Mal mit Kreditkarte oder NFC zu zahlen... Manche Leute kennen das überhaupt nicht (in 2020!). Paypal, Revolut, N26 (deutsche Bank!) sind Neuland. Ich wünsche Deutschland eine digitalisiertere Zukunft, da es überhaupt nicht den anderen deutschen Standards folgt. Wenn man sich Ländern in Osteuropa guckt, die bei den meisten Sachen hinter Deutschland liegen, aber bei der Digitalisierung weit vorne liegen (Polen, Litauen...)

​@@philipe1502 genau, in Russland benutzt man kein Bargeld und ich habe tatsächlich keine Bekannten, die nicht mit NFC zahlen. In Russland zahle ich persönlich nur mit Apple Pay, und in dieser Hinsicht ist Russland ein komisches Land, zB kann man eine Fahrkarte mit Apple Pay kaufen, aber öffentliche Verkehrsmittel ist häufig ziemlich alt und überholt (nicht in Moskau). Die Digitalisierung ist hier so gut entwickelt, wie gewöhnliche Technologien in Deutschland. Ich habe viele Berichte von Russen gelesen, die nach Deutschland ausgewandert sind, und sie alle sind der Meinung, dass deutsches Onlinebanking das Niveau habe, das es vor 5 Jahren in Russland gehabt habe.

Es gibt so viele Dinge, die mich an Deutschland nerven. Ich muss aber auf Englisch schreiben, weil mir Vokabeln fehlt. What the man on 3:20 said is pretty accurate: Germans are like pawns on a chessboard. Everyone has a function and that's what you live for. I could spend hours talking about this topic but just to give you an example: every time you meet someone new you're certain to get asked two questions: where are you from and what do you study/where do you work? These may seem like "friendly" questions but it's pretty much an assessment of your role in Germany. If you come from a less developed country, the immediate inner perception is that you should be forever grateful for having the opportunity to come here, even though they have no idea what your motivations are. Another example is that people seem to think others aren't capable of doing anything but what's stated on their certificate/degree. If you tell a German you just made a song, questions such as "what do you mean by your song?" or "did you write the lyrics yourself?" will arise. One will often find themselves overlooked. In nearly every other culture, singing in a round of friends while one plays the guitar is common, whereas in Germany, you cannot sing for fun unless you attend singing lessons or are drunk in the karaoke...

I agree about them putting too much importance on what your certificate says or your current job. I'm a sound engineer in the UK but started working as a stagehand first when I moved to Germany. My colleagues just couldn't believe when I told them I had been freelancing for a few years in the UK as a full time sound engineer and even suggested me to do an "Ausbildung" to learn the trade. Because my German is just intermediate and I'm shy about speaking it, they even thought I was too stupid to be able to handle that kind of work.

Ich wohne seit 2 Jahren in Deutschland und ich mag das Leben hier. Die meisten Deutschen sind echt nett und freundlich. Aber was mich nervt ist, dass sie häufig vorurteilen. Entweder böse oder freunlich urteilen sie mich wegen meines Aussichts, ob ich welche Religion, Herkunft, Sprache o.Ä habe. Sogar auch manchmal, ob ich etwas essen kann!

Manchmal kommt es auf die Sichtweise an, wie man etwas versteht, das gesagt wird. Das Prinzip der 4 Ohren. Wenn ich zu jemanden eingeladen werde, und er fragt mich, ob ich bestimmte Sachen esse oder nicht esse, liegt dies vermutlich daran, dass er auf meine Befindlichkeit Rücksicht nehmen möchte. Lade ich Leute zu mir nach Hause ein, gibt es meist einen Krustenbraten. Das ist ein gängiges Sonntagsessen. Wenn unter meinen Gästen jemand ist, von dem ich annehme könnte, dass er möglicherweise aus traditionell-religiösen Gründen kein Schweinefleisch isst, dann frage ich diese Person, ob er das Fleisch mag. Je nachdem wie seine Antwort lautet, wird mein Essen ausfallen. Es ist eine Form von Höflichkeit, seinen Gästen entgegenzukommen. Jedoch von vornherein anzunehmen, dass der Gast keinen Krustenbraten essen würde, weil er z.B. einen türkischen Vornamen trägt, das ist vorurteilbehaftet und klischeehaft. Es zeugt jedoch von Feingefühl, den Gast vorab zu fragen.

My opinion: I think there is no real freedom in Germany. As a foreigner, coming from Northern Italy, I felt like I didn't have the right to express my views, as long as they were different from the general consensus. I felt like people in Germany do not value "opinions" and "ideas", unless they are supported by a general consensus. I couldn't adapt to such a society, as I am a very critical (and self-critical) person and I enjoy exchanging opinions, even in a polemic way. But Germans think you are just being "hassling". Another thing I didn't like: people do not use social media because they are afraid their privacy might be violated. I also realized that many people were spying on me on social media, including my boss and colleagues, to check about me. In Italy you don't need to hide your opinions or experiences, we like sharing. So in the end I left Germany, as I realized it was not a place for me, it is a nice place but too oppressive.

First of all, I am addicted to your videos. I think they're "excellent"! 10 years ago, we moved from NYC to Zürich, and I found a video with this same woman, for learning German, and it was very helpful. You were standing outside a supermarket asking people what they had purchased. Now we live in the UK (I'm American, partner is British), no chance to speak German, but I still find these videos fascinating (I am of German ancestry). I have travelled in Germany extensively, and I love the land of my forefathers. On the down side, I find Germans to be a bit too "serious", sometimes grumpy, and a bit hesitant to have "social talk", i.e. small talk. BUT- I can understand the German "directness" very well. Guess what? New Yorkers are the same way. We speak our minds without hesitation, we say it like it is. Finally.... German food, 100% delish. I grew up with much of it. PS: I apologise: I realise now this was meant to be in Deutsch!

Meine 80jährige Tante hat kürzlich erzählt, dass das, was der Herr bei Minute 4 erzählt, dass die meisten Menschen so beschränkt und auf ihre Schiene fixiert sind, die sie fahren und dass das Gemeinsame, das Leben leben fehlt, dass das sich erst in den letzten 20 Jahren so entwickelt hat und in den 70er und 80er Jahren war das nicht so, sondern noch viel positiver, dieses Leben leben und nicht auf Spur sein.

Manchmal ist es auch falsch verstandene Höflichkeit. Leute antworten auf Englisch, weil sie denken, dass das für ihr Gegenüber einfacher ist. Selbst wenn der-/diejenige nicht als Muttersprache Englisch hat, trifft man sich so quasi in der Mitte. Am Einfachsten ist des da wirklich gerade heraus zu sagen, dass man lieber Deutsch sprechen möchte um es zu üben. Gerade Deutsche brauchen teils einfach klare Ansagen ^^

Ich hasse manchmal Spontanität. Wenn ein Freund fragt, ob er eine Woche bei mir schlafen darf, und das 5 Stunden vor seiner Ankunft (er wohnt im Süden von Deutschland und ich in Norddeutschland), dann finde ich das schon nervig. Oder wenn es einfach bei mir klingelt, und es heißt, lass was zusammen Essen gehen, obwohl ich mein Tag schon anders geplant habe und eine Tiefkühlpizza im meinen Ofen steckt. Most people don't stop when someone asks for directions anymore, because since a few years more and more people act like they want to ask for directions and steal from you or suddenly follow you to be aggressively for money. Especially foreigners. A few years ago anyone would have helped you, but nowadays it got extreme. Am besten ist natürlich wenn man die Wahl hat mit Bargeld oder Kreditkarte zu zahlen. Bald wird der Tag kommen, an dem man nur mit App oder Kreditkarte einkaufen kann, und daher finde ich es wichtig, das man mindestens noch die Option hat, mit Bargeld zu zahlen. Sonst gibt es in der Zukunft eine gute Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass wir für UNSER Geld, die WIR angelegt haben, Negativzinsen zahlen müssen...Das können die Banken mit Bargeld nicht machen.

Later here in USA I had a good American friend who had been living in Deutschland and I asked him about the culture in Deutschland and he said: " How bad for those who live there " I asked him why, and he kept silent. I wish I had pressed them to be more explicit. A constant I have seen in these great Easy German videos is Graffiti, almost everywhere I see Graffiti on the walls and can't understand the reason, restlessness? lack of peace? Why? (and why is not removed).

Erstmal möchte ich Euch loben! Das war, wie ich finde ein schöner Querschnitt von sympathischen Leuten die wir haben. Und ich finde es auch schön, dass einem erstmal nicht so viel einfällt. Sicher gibt es viel zu meckern, das gibt es sicher überall. Ich auch, und ich kann mich vielen anderen hier in den Kommentaren auch anschließen. Aber wenn man mal vergleicht haben wir soviel Glück gehabt, dass wir hier und zu genau dieser Zeit hier leben. 100 oder 80 Jahre vorher und es ist schon nicht mehr so schön. Wer weiß wie es in 100 Jahren ausschaut. (Stichwort Klima) Was einem bzw. mich nervt ist vermutlich, dass es oft halt noch besser sein könnte, wenn man es denn anstreben würde. Wir sind DAS Autoland und mich nervt es kolossal, dass es scheinbar so wenig Interesse gibt, den CO2-Austoss zu verringern, die Dinger insgesamt Klimaneutraler zu gestalten. (Stichwort Wasserstoff oder auch schon Biogas im Vergleich zu Benzin oder Elektro) Mich nervt es nicht nur, dass Bahnfahren zu teuer ist, es werden in Teilen auch zu wenig eingesetzt. (Ich wohne glücklicherweise an einem Endhaltepunkt, aber sehr oft habe ich es erlebt, dass in Stosszeiten niemand mehr in die überteuerte Bahn kam - ich hoffe die haben alle einen Verständnisvollen Arbeitgeber) Ich habe zudem das Gefühl, dass wir als Volk immer unsozialer werden. Egal ob das jetzt die Politiker sind, welche sich selber ständig die Diäten erhöhen, aber es nicht mal annähernd schaffen für unsere Pflegekräfte Arbeitsbedingungen zu schaffen die denen auch gerecht wird. Wahrscheinlich sind Politiker privatversichert und verdienen halt soviel, dass sie dann später, wenn sie alt und eventuell krank werden, sich darüber halt keine Gedanken machen müssen. Das gleiche gilt halt auch für die Rente. Oder auch der "normale" Mensch auf der Straße bzw. im Auto. Man muss hier nur mal ne Stunde auf der Autobahn sein, dann sieht man wie dumm und rücksichtslos viele Deutsche sind. Aber so will ich es hier nicht enden lassen. Gerade jetzt in dieser schweren Zeit sieht man wieder wie gut es uns hier geht. Und so viel Freiheit und Demokratie gibt es auf der Welt nicht so oft. Dass das ein paar Versprengte nicht begreifen..ok das nervt mich auch! ;-)

Ich wollte erstmal sagen das ich liebe Easy German, Ich habe damit Deutsch gelernt, und Janusz und Cari sind größartige Lehrer*innen. Aber jetzt eine Anfrage: Können wir mal ne Folge von Berlin haben die nicht im Prenzlauer Berg gefilm wird? Ich find es leider überhaupt nicht repräsentativ von Berlin bzw. Germany, da tendentzeill viele der Leute, die man heutzutage in Pberg rumlaufen/wohnen sieht, aus dem oberen Ende des sozioökonomischen Spektrums Berlin/Deutschland kommen. Oder sind expats (auch mit Kohle). Natürlich ist das fein und auch relativ egal zum Deutsch lernen. Aber wenn man bedenkt, dass viele ihrer Videos sich auf ein philosophische Thema beziehen, vielleicht wäre es passend andere Ansichten zu betrachten. Würden die Leute z.B in Neukölln, Wedding, Britz, Marzahn, oder Spandau die Frage von diesem Video so beantworten? außerdem ihr macht wirklich Tolle Sachen, danke nochmal!

Talking about things that are wrong (or possibly wrong or possibly bad) is not the same as getting annoyed or showing that you are annoyed. it is a critical discussion, it can be open to more discussion and improvement. but just making sounds like "pfff" or "aakhh" and showing that you are annoyed, doesn't help anything, it is not a discussion, and is just spreading negative emotions. Bad things should be talked about and recognized, in order to open door for future possible improvement. But nagging doesn't help anything.

Extremely low efficiency almost in every area. Openning a new bank account costs you more than a week! And it's already 2020, but Germans' communication still depend on paper letters!!! Low efficiency creates more job opportunities, and this is one of the key factors that Germany or even the whole EU has been left behind in many areas by other countries.

This is rather off topic from the video but some of the responses in the video reminded me of this question I've had for a while, and I'd love to hear a German's perspective on this. I've seen a lot of times where Germans seem to say that patriotism is a bad thing, or silly to be proud of where you were born, etc that kind of thing. I'm American, and most people I know around here don't view it as a matter of where we were born, race, religion, etc... I was born in Germany for example but I'm American and I'd say proud of it. For the majority of Americans, at least the ones I know, what matters is the values someone holds. I base a lot of my sense of patriotism on the Constitution, because I believe everyone deserves those rights and freedoms and not everywhere in the world has something like that. America isn't perfect and never was, but throughout history there's examples of tons of people trying to make it better, and I view that as something to be proud of. Same goes for any other country as well.

I would say that germans can come across as rude and cold sometimes, but not especially direct. I find other cultures not less direct, sometimes even ruder in their expression.

@@devdevedev Genau, weil wir nämlich alle total auf dämliche Soaps und alberne Krimis angewiesen sind. Ein Sender wie Phoenix würde reichen, und den könnte man zu einem Zehntel des Preises finanzieren. Aber wir schleppen natürlich auch gern noch die unfähigsten Drehbuchschreiberlinge mit unserem Geld durch.

@@elwray3506 Zu den öffentlich-rechtlichen gehört mehr als das, was du im TV siehst du Clown, nämlich jede Menge Nachrichtendienste, Online-Magazine, Apps, die Funk-Programme, die ganzen Onlinepräsenzen von ARD etc, ich kann noch ewig weiter erzählen. Viele Leute schaffen für uns ein objektives und transparentes Nachrichtensystem! Hätten wir keine öffentlichen Nachrichtenbringer müssten wir uns auf alberne Seiten und private Plattformen verlassen.

Well, I haven't been to Germany but I've some German friends. For example, when A Turk ask me to hangout on weekend I'd probably say "Well, I have very important things to do on the weekend, It's so important, otherwise I'd be love to hangout with you, well maybe the next weekend or maybe in a week day, let me know when you're free" but a German in very same situation would be like "No". That's what I don't like about my German friends. Come on! You should make me feel good before rejecting me. That's how it works in many mediterranean country as far as I observe. Well, maybe this "German style" of conversations could make more understandable society thou but I don't like it. Still love my German friends :)
