I am the Trans partner. I came out to my husband 2 months after we got married. It was rough at first, took a few years for him to get used to it (he used to identify as cishet, and he's autistic so change is difficult for him), but now I'm two years on T and he proudly calls me his husband. He is a truck driver and in the US it can be a very unsafe profession for LGBTQ+ folks. He doesn't care. He talks about his husband no matter what. He cheers me on when I pluck up the courage to use the men's room, when I'm dysphoric he orders me a new binder, when I started T he sat with me while we read everything we could on fertility on T because he knew how important being a dad was to me (I really wanna be a seahorse dad), he taught me to shave and tie a tie... he is wonderful.

7:14 speaking of pickup lines, I just remembered a screenshot I saw years ago. So, basically the guy asked a girl if she knew Cerberus. After she answered “No“, he explained that, in Greek mythology, Cerberus is a multi-headed dog that guards the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from leaving. Afterwards, he told her that not even that dog would be as badass as the ones he was about to throw at her. You may be asking, “And where's the pickup line?”. Well, in Venezuelan Spanish, the usual way to say “to flirt with someone” is “echarle/tirarle los perros” (literally “to throw the dogs at them”).

The pink and blue thing: pink was a toned-down red and red was forceful and masculine (think of the English army uniforms), while blue was the color of the Virgin Mary, and so very feminine. This switched in the early 1900s, possibly (and this is only one explanation) because of the widespread popularity of the Blue Boy and Pinkie paintings. Even though they were painted at different times by different artists, households in the 20s and 30s often had prints of the pair. As for white dresses on babies -- people had large families at the time and babies grow so fast that their clothes don't get worn out, so baby clothes that could be worn by boys or girls and handed on to a neighbor or were a necessity. White could also be boiled again and again to clean it, unlike colors that would fade. Dresses made it easier to change diapers and helped keep the baby warm (along with long stockings), though they'd have to be shorter for a crawling baby. It wasn't until a boy was potty trained and out of diapers that he was "breached" -- put into a pair of britches. In Victorian times, though, the dress phase could last well beyond toddlerhood, and a boy might not be "breached" until age five or six. By the end of the Victorian era and early 1900s, a boy progressed from toddler dresses to short pants, then "knickers" (knee pants, not panties!), and finally long pants. Though in England, the shorts phase seemed to last longer than in the US, I think.

I am genuinely happy to see hygiene products geared towards men. Like at least it’s encouraging them to not smell like a dumpster. I read somewhere that pink stopped being used for men in general because of H!tIer. Pink was for boys and blue for girls indeed :D Pink was seen as the "child" version of red, which was a color associated with strength and kings. Blue on the other hand was strongly attached to Virgin Mary, because her depictions were made with a pigment called ultramarine blue which was extremely expensive to import to Europe (the natural version of this pigment was made with lapis-lazuli). Since it was so rare and expensive, it was used almost exclusively to depict Mary, and so was connected to femininty :D

Let me nerd out a bit here. First, there are several hairless cat breeds. I'm assuming you're talking about the Canadian Sphynx, which is probably the most popular hairless cat breed. Off the top of my head I also remember Don Sphynx and Peterbald. Second, they are not covered in oil _if you wash them regularly_ . And you totally should, because unlike hairy cats, a lot of them don't groom at all, and if you don't take care of their skin, they'll have problems ranging from acne to severe skin ulcers. Third, rarity and price depends on the region in question. For example, where I live (Central Asia, won't go into further details) Canadian Sphynxes are the cheapest and most widespread of the 3 I mentioned and all of them are about twice cheaper than Maine Coons. Canadian Sphynxes are somewhere in top 10 most common breeds, too. Dons are rarer -- there were something under 5 breeders in my former club, and Peterbalds were barely present at all, and none of them in WCF clubs (my club's system, so I knew most about what was going on there). Then again, all of them _were_ present in the region, which is saying something because the representation of breeds here is crap at best, all of the shows are the same 10 to 20 tired breeds over and over again. Third, as khills mentioned, the most popular allergen is located in saliva, not dander. On that point, I do have cats who have significantly lower Fel d1 levels -- Siberians, and even in our circles it is highly *not* recommended to sell kittens to allergic people who didn't initially show an allergic reaction to the kitten because allergies can (and pretty often do) have an accumulative effect, meaning your immune system grinds its teeth and bears it for a while and then presents you with a tantrum to the allergen. And then you have to rehome a beloved adult pet, which isn't pleasant to anyone involved.
@khills
@khills 7 ай бұрын
@@kaworunagisa4009 There are some solutions to the allergies now, thankfully. You can do allergy shots, and they work really well - my husband had been taking them for a while now, so I can definitely share anecdata that it’s working. Purina also has a pet food that neutralizes Fel d1; apparently drops the presence by like 47%? Hopefully it’ll be available in your neck of the woods, because it really is helping people. …now if you’ll excuse me, my MinSkin kitten needs attention. 😂

There is an actual ghost/horror story where the entity takes the shape of a linen sheet. The premise sounds ridiculous until you read it, it's very creepy and atmospheric. It's called 'Whistle and I' ll Come to Ye, my Lad'. Check it out.

Something my professor once brought up is that plants and non-human animals that reproduce sexually are pointlessly gendered based on sex. Like, a dog doesn’t have a concept of gender, at best they can perceive biological sex, but if you’ve got a biologically male dog then suddenly you’re saying “good boy!” instead of “good doggie!”. We have that tendency to guess when we aren’t sure too, and quite literally take a look downstairs to correct ourselves, which is pointless since THAT ISN’T GENDER. It’s even worse with plants, since many plants can grow both “male” and “female” flowers, sometimes even simultaneously, sometimes within the same flower! Sometimes it changes with age or temperature (which is true of some fish too)! The flower’s anatomy isn’t even indicative of the whole organism’s biological sex for most plants, let alone gender as humans perceive it. And don’t get me started on calling boats and cars “she” (such as “she runs like a dream”, etc). We project gender on everything in the dumbest ways.

Questions my 8+ aged girls have asked this week: 1. "Are baby peacock spiders smaller than the babies of larger spiders, or is there a minimum possible size?" 2. "Do boy spiders just stop growing sooner, or can you tell baby spiders' sex from when they hatch?" 3. "Can Dad come watch my Lego competition?" 4."What do I do about eggs that fell out of the fridge and cracked?" and 5. "Will jacaranda seeds sprout in Summer?" Oh great pink ouija board, what can you tell us?

I thought it sounded like a neat trap. You have the first party member pick the "wrong" color rope then the next character of opposite gender picks the other color so also wrong. Having the party figure it out would be so much fun (although I wouldn't make it fatal). Edit to add missed word

I think Click might be on to something regarding hairbrushes. My husband decided to let his hair grow a couple of years ago for the first time. He always complained about how much hair he loses when he brushes. One day he was in a hurry and I handed him my own pink velvety brush. The first stroke he turned to me & asked if my brush was broken/old because he wasn't feeling the "pull". A second later we both realized what was happening. Anyway, he now has my brush in 3 colors (blue, red, purple, not pink to avoid mixing it up with mine) because he's scared that if one breaks he will have to go back to the "man" brushes.
