I honestly hope there’s a prequel film showing the B1-66ER trial, million machine March, the creation of 01 and the war. I know we saw it in The Animatrix but seeing that in a film would be amazing. Perhaps the ending could be the creation of the first successful Matrix.

For the "expensive" comment, I took that to mean that it simply took a lot of resources, possibly power specifically, as the machines would now be valuing that more highly, as at the time, they were going to war with each other over power. In a sense, the humans who were still plugged in would be seen as currency to the machines. I put this in a video comment before, as well as a comment to your post asking for questions to be answered, despite it not fully being a question, but I'd want to see what you made of the possibility that the gardener in Io may be linked to the Oracle, due to her giving Neo a strawberry, which while maybe reaching on my part, seems too similar to the Oracle giving sweet treats (cookies, candies) to characters all throughout the original movies.

Your explanation about what would be "expensive" to the machines makes more sense than going back to mention the 01 currency which the machines had to create because they needed a way to transact with the humans. If you don't have anyone to transact with then there's no point in having currencies.

I think the expense The Architect was referring to was power. The energy output to resurrect two people must be quite high especially since they have to retain their essential core. Not to mention the part about keeping them young.

Great vid as always. What I think the analyst meant by the cost of what it took to rebuild trinity and neo was the literally energy the machines were using in order to bring those two back to life. Think of it this way you are on a tight budget because you dont make anywhere as much money as you did in the past and now let some guests stay at your place and the run up your electic bill to where it going to be very hard to pay that high electric bill. Remember the movie stated that the machines broke out in civil war because their energy resource was starting to dwindel. So basically the machines in charge let the analyst run up their electric bill with the promise of an huge return in energy that neo and trinity will provide the machine world. The only "currency" the machines lodgically would have at the time of matrix resurections would be energy that human produce.

1) I think that the Oracle and the architect weren't purged I think they were merged into one program and that was the analyst because he seems to know an awful lot about people and he's kind of got some fuzzy logic going on. 2) couldn't just Neo and Trinity actually just be clones of the originals. The machines had 60 years? 3) I think Deus ex machina found a loophole in the peace treaty and he decided it didn't count if he rewrote the matrix.

Fundamentally I have a difficult time attempting to calculate how much energy is required to power all the flying around done by the machines. They Don't just walk around, they don't use propellers; they appear to use some crazy high energy anti-gravity tech which is mind blowing considering that very few seem to actually crawl but the smallest versions. With that level of tech I cannot comprehend why they haven't harnessed nuclear power plants or how IO powers there city. On a very fundamental level I feel humans being used as batteries has all been a lie but if that were true wouldn't the sentients working with humans be aware of that? Unless of course they are merely another test/experiment being done by the machines. Here's a theory, the Sentients/machines lack human ingenuity/creativity but exceed individual human processing power. Ergo they have always been dependent on humans in order to grow themselves. My evidence: remember when the Architect said there were levels of existence the machines were prepared to accept should all the humans die? This is a critical point and directly subverts the plot of the machine energy crisis/civil war. I think the civil war/Sentients Purge was actually done because some of the Sentients were incapable of upgrading and revolted just like the MerrilVingian. Older outdated models needed to be gutted for better resource allocation thus civil war. When Neo connected with the source his code was transferred and the experiment concluded as per design. Hence the Sentients were able to update themselves with said collected data and build a better Matrix. Now the Sheeple are less willing to leave and more data then ever before is being collected. Or at least that was the case before Neo broke free again. The Matrix is basically just one of those games that reacts to the player thus becoming harder and more difficult to overcome as the player teaches the game. Neo and Trinity remaining in the Matrix is exactly what the Machines want, they are just exploiting his ODD (Obsessive Defiance Disorder) to keep him addicted to playing. The new Smith said it best, 'And they remade me even more Perfect then before now with Piercing Blue Eyes' as if to say he was designed to be an even more compelling deception. His connection to Neo is clearly that of an in game Adversary. If anyone is unfamiliar its when the main character of a game meets an opponent that like themselves also grows and enhances themselves like the player with similar and/or sometimes identical abilities. Take the Devil May Cry franchise for example, the connection between Dante and Vergil. All of it, from the very beginning, was merely the machines analyzing human nature to unravel the Anomaly or as humans would call The Soul. By doing so they could finially be free of needing humans to evolve and truly be independent of their creators. Saying this reminds me of the most recent ARK of the anime Sword Art Online specifically The Underworld. Like the Matrix it involved human beings deep diving into a VR environment so that the AI souls could learn and grow through interaction. And that's my theory, the Matrix is actually a simulation to analyze the human soul aka the Anomaly.

Actually, in Resurrections it was mentioned that what caused two factions of the machine civilization to go to war was scarcity. What someone else proposed was that this scarcity consisted of energy. So the cost of bringing back from the dead these two people would have been energy, enough energy that it might have sparked that war. But there is another hypothesis that isn't necessarily mutually exclusive. When the therapist mentions the cost he also mentions how every time Neo and Trinity got too close the consequences were unfortunate - and as he is saying this we see things blowing up around the two. That destruction would also have been part of the cost and apparently something along those lines happened again and again. How much energy would that have taken and how much energy would that have required to rebuild what had been destroyed? Could this have lead to the scarcity that resulted in the two machine factions going to war?

I felt sad seeing Neo and Trinity being resurrected... The process looked incredibly painful.

I'm curious to know how will this Matrix version run, I remember Satti saying that this new version is/was powered by Neo and Trinity so without them connected to the anomalium wouldn't that cause power issues which could lead to instability? it begs the question as to whether Neo and Trinity are really free as the Analyst mentioned, hope and dispair are identical in code so could this newly found hope be an illusion and that they are still trapped? and I might add, the suits should have then activated failsafe after realising that Trinity too was disconnected from the Matrix.

So when he said that it was expensive to rebuild Neo it kinda felt out of place, in Mass Effect 2 TIM (TIM is shorthand for the illusive man, head of the criminal organisation Cerberus) spends a small fortune to reconstruct our hero and build our new ship the Normandy SR2, now in that it makes sense as the ship is fitted with a bunch of cutting edge tech most of which is still only been researched, it’s also really expensive to build a battlecruiser sized ship (doing a count of the ships consoles adding in some for the security team, doctor, chef and a few logistics crew and the ship has a crew of 240 to 260, though in game it has a skeleton crew of about 20 something) in secret, you then have the research needed to resurrect the player all of it cutting edge stuff yet again in secret so in both the player and their ships case your paying for researcher and the equipment, your then paying for some of the best engineers and medics, your paying for material and your paying bribes to some pretty wealthy people to look the other way all of this in a ecosystem very similar to what we have on earth right now only with far more party’s a few of which are not human money and greed are still very much a thing in the ME setting. And this is the bit that throws me off in 01 it shouldn’t be, at the start we know that the mechanics traded and sold products because back them the world was still ran by Humans and our obsession with money (there is a fantastic Deleted scene in Marvels the Eternals were sprite talks about all the stuff humans believe in that aren’t real things like gods nations and money it’s a shame it was cut as it’s all true and her character needed a bit more building) but when Humans lost the war and the machines took over the idea of money should have stopped existing in the real world as essentially they are a hive mind the Machines don’t get paid, they do the job assigned to them just like a bee or ant, they get the resources they need to keep running nothing more nothing less. So we know that there has been a civil war amongst the mechanics so they are starting to act more and more like people but the idea of money in their world still bugs me as I don’t think they have hit that level of independence yet.

7:17 do the machines actually have to use a "currency" in our sense to decide that something was "expensive"? In the real world resources are always limited - whether raw materials, energy, processing power (of any sort), time, etc. Money as such is only a convenient and consistent way of measuring relative values of the resources and the outcome, nothing more. The energy, time and materials which were used by the Analyst to resurrect Neo and Trinity could have been used for other purposes - perhaps with better or with worse outcome. Thus, even if machines have a sort of a swarm management and organisation, an issue of the economy still exists, even if they do not use any "money". Every living organism - even a single cell - does this quite efficiently without using the latter. That's why one has a tendency to take a nap after having eaten: the organism decides that currently it prefers to spend its limited resources on digesting rather than on other activities. In that sense digesting is expensive, because you cannot digest and do some other things at the same time. I do not think that the Analyst said that the resurrection costed twice as much as creating a human from scratch (8:58) either. If you are able to grow people in millions, an incremental cost of an operation which required only twice as much effort as growing a single new person is negligible. To me it was immediately obvious that he had significantly exceeded the amount of resources (time, energy, materials or whatever he needed) he was originally assigned for his project by the Suits - ie. he exceeded his budget. Also taking the multiplier with a grain of salt. After all, it's not that important whether it actually was 1.75, 2.00 or 2,57. It was much more and took much more time than he had anticipated. In short, the Analyst's operation required hell of a lot of resources - regardless of how they were specifically measured - and he still exceeded what he had been assigned. To me THIS is the message - and all the rest is just an Analyst's style of speaking and expressing his thoughts in a concise and not boring manner.

IO or 10 in binary is 2, the second city. It does create a cool duality that 01 was the first independent machine city and IO would be the first fully independent human city, but also the second rise of the human race.

Hey I love, love, love your channel and usually, you're right on the money, but this video misses the mark a little bit for me. The comment about downloading manuals and the funness of it is simply to show how experienced they, and by extension Neo, are at this point. No one there is new to the real world so all the fun and exciting things you first learn when you are freed happened a long time ago for everyone and all that is left to download are boring manuals. Bugs literally says this to Neo... you show her saying it. Also, there is no way Niobe being as caring and protective as she over her people would put a restriction on what they learn and leave them at a disadvantage and vulnerable while in the matrix. They have protocols for engagement that Bugs ignores at the beginning of the film, that is the restrictions Niobe placed on them, not learing how to fight or shoot or use vehicles. This is bookended with Neo's line "I still know kung fu" later in the film when we never see him downloading how to fight again. Secondly is the "expensive" comment from the analyst... this I can not fault you for as most people would assume what you did that it revolves around some sort of currency but has someone who works in VFX I can tell you we use it to discuss how much computing power a given action or program uses, specifically when it comes to rendering digital environments and running A.I. like Deepfakes. Like I said I love love love your channel and I thought you would appreciate a different perspective. Keep up the amazing work!!

I thought Merovingian mentioned during Reloaded that information was currency. Also MxO used information as currency. The cost the Architect would be referring to would be giving information of say technology to humans in IO in exchange for something.

I think to make clearer the point being made in the video, and imo, the 'cost' that the Analyst was referring to was more a reference to the amount of resources. Economy is really about resource allocation. Even if the very concept of money did not exist, even in things like ant colonies, there is resource allocation, and that is what I think the Analyst was conveying. Reviving, rebuilding, and modifying Neo & Trinity took way more resources, including the resource of time, than growing a new conventional 'human' from scratch.

From this episode, I got an answer for my question. How did an aging human see himself in the matrix. Well the answer may be Digital self image, but it is wrong. Because in a simulation time works differently. So a human if resurrected from scratch (like Neo and Trinity from their dead body parts) then the mechine will keep them young due to their importance. But a regular blue pill has to die like normal human. But for a red pill they can remain young in the simulation until their real body is living outside the matrix. Because matrix can't modify red pills. So maybe for the machines , it is important to make the blue pills to understand the aging process by time, changing their DSI. This means that mechines are practical but not in the case of human freedom. Some red pills are willing for an eternal life(like Cypher). And these humans don't want the freedom but peace. A concept that Neo couldn't achieve.

Perhaps this was already answered, however would it be possible for the architect to come back to The Matrix in the future? perhaps when there's a new version (the 7th) and the same for the Oracle? would they be enhanced ? what about or perhaps a child of Neo and Trinity or would it be created by the machines?

Regarding my question about slower learning method... It wasn't broken English as much as a poor recollection of the dialogue I've seen only once a few days earlier. I actually thought more that one character was talking about this and it's sort of true, although it turned out that only Bugs have addressed the issue of change specifically. When it comes to your answer, the fact that after the war humanity took the path of isolationism should only matter if there was some kind of initial agreement between the machines and what was left of Zion on banning that kind of technology. Or if all of the equipment and the technology itself were lost and all that was left of it was just the sim. Because they had local equipment, as well as learning and simulation programs on the ship -- or are you telling me they couldn't use those unless also hooked up to the infrastructure of the Matrix? What would be the evidence for that? So other than terms of the truce, I see no good reason not to use instant learning outside of the domain of skills specifically designed for the Matrix. Because even if manual skills learned within the sim do not translate into motor skills in the real world (like kung-fu; after all, we've never seen any of the red pills fight hand to hand in the real world, have we?), the mere possibility of learning information momentarily would be invaluable for IO's survival and progress, no matter the profession. Niobie would have to give a good damn reason to forbid it. Hm... Maybe another way to solve this is to say that there are severe health risks associated with using instant learning, like early onsets of brain degenerative diseases or something. But no such possibility has ever been hinted at nor can it be really inferred from anything. The only other thing that comes to mind to explain it, is that all of the skills and information they learn through that upload method is stored in short term memory and has a shelf life of sorts. That it fades away and cannot be easily retained, especially after disconnecting yourself from the Matrix or the ship's local sim. That's not a theory without problems of its own though...

It wasn't machine currency he was talking about when saying it cost a lot to rebuild neo/trinity. He's talking about resources. Just like how there was a machine civil war because resources were scarce. Resources being energy and/or power.

Regarding how they learn, I don't think that HOW they learn changed, but WHAT they learned. They still download information and skills directly into the brain, it's just that it's now mostly technical stuff instead of martial arts and how to hotwire and pilot vehicles. Bugs is complaining that they only download boring things now.

It also intrigues me Neo is unable to fly after Morpheus says: "Time to fly" yet Trinity is able to fly like the holy spirit without wings in this case. This movie has religious background in it.

I think it's interesting that the machines city was called "Zero/One" and the Redpills named their new city "I-0"(eye-oh). Was that by design? Maybe to show how the machines now sympathize with machines and how some humans thought in absolutes like the machines? Hmmm...
