Yes. Kendra was definitely portrayed as the kid coming from an underdog, financially strapped, "living in the ghetto" type of situation. Both of your early childhood years were not fleshed out at all. It was really disappointing to see how your histories were glossed over and therefore the audience didn't get to know you as quickly or as thoroughly. They finally made your personalities more accessible to the viewers and we were able to get to know you both much better!

Hef was a father figure for Kendra so I understand why she wanted to bring him back to her childhood. She wanted him to get to know her whole history. Now that I am older, it makes me sad. Kendra was very naive about the whole thing and Hef really used that connection to his advantage. It is probably why she is struggling so much right now. She is probably starting to see him more and more for who he is: something who took advantage of her. He is no longer the hero who saved her.

Kendra came off as not bright but in reality she caught on really fast to the possibilities to promote herself and make more of the show where you 2 were more real and not just seeing dollar signs. Bridget was always my favorite but she was always played (in my opinion) as too old trying to act younger, (not my opinion just something I thought the show tried to do) and therefore Bridget was too old for Kendra and that is why she was shown as a friend for Kendra. Kendra knew separating herself from you 2 would give her more screen time, and it worked. Bridget will always be my favorite but Holly is a close second.

Apologize if this posts twice, I keep getting interrupted. Okay. I remember this episode. I always got the impression Kendra's mom was very jealous of her and would have jumped at the chance to be a Hef girl, in that mansion. Kendra mentioned her mom was a cheerleader for the NFL. I was around this crowd as well, the cattiness and jealousy never end. I got the feeling her grandfather did not like Hef, just when he shook his hand in the living room that day, I could see the grandfather was just being polite, cordial, just doing it for his granddaughter but he did not like the whole situation. Nor did the grandmother, I don't think she cared for him, either but Patti? Different story. I also read a book by Bobbi Brown, she described her time at the mansion and how toxic it was. How another very popular at the time, girl next door imaged, very carefully crafted image of this person was put out there but she was anything but. She gave Bobbi the worst time , made fun of her, you name it. When this show first came out, I liked everyone, then as it went on, the vibe I got from Kendra was exactly what happened to Bobbi by that other person. I never agreed with the things she said about Holly. She turned into the mean girl, it seemed? Having a mother that is narcissistic, jealous , who knows what that did to her but her comments about the others in the house seemed unwarranted. Not right.
