Yeah when ships were made out of wood and they caught on fire they burnt down to the waterline but when ships became metal when they caught on fire they became floating crematoriums.

Terrifying, especially when paired with an inept crew!

much respect for the guys throughout history that sailed the oceans with just wooden ships knowing now the rouge waves, nasty storms, and potential fires that they might of faced during their voyages.
@nightstand79 Жыл бұрын
They also used oil based paint on the hull all the time so that helped the fire spread faster too

The night watchman thought a fire could be contained…WHY?! It’s a fire! Put it out!
@MarkGovernАй бұрын
@@randomkeir It must have been too big to put it out hence containment.

Who would have known SeaEscape cruises came 50 years later... Their rusty boats went up in smoke on purpose like matchboxes. In Denmark we know all to well what happened 7th april 1990. The ship scandinavian star must not be forgotten. NOR shall Morro castle...

Our mom's brother, Uncle Harry, was a steward on the ship that day. It was amazing to hear him relate his first-hand experience on that trip.

A question in regard to the very beginning of the video. What’s the music played with the logo?
@StunningHistory15 күн бұрын
That was the music leading into the news clip, so I'm unsure. News music of the 30s!

Metal-hulled ships catching fire truly are something to keep one up at night.

My grand father told me the story of the Morro Castle. She was a great looking ship. The sad thing was the lack of care of her. And the crew members with questionable histories. Sad for those lost. Sad for the loss of the ship. She deserved better.

Okay honestly I wonder, any chance of Appendicitis. The pain it can cause could explain an irrational behavior, include the fact that the rate at which the body can deteriot would also appear suspect if one believed themselves to be poisoned. My evidence, I just had it and honestly one thing that popped into my head and that I thought about for hours awaiting surgery was this very mystery

There can be a number of conditions that cause an acute abdomen. However, the likelihood of a cardiac condition causing death is much more probable in the captain's age group. He was 55 at time of death.Many patients experiencing a myocardial infarction (heart attack) have nause, abdominal pain, vomiting. In fact, one type of heart attack called a STEMI commonly presents with abdominal complaints early on. About 90% of acute appendicitis cases are between 10-30 years of age. It does happen in older age groups too but, it's extremely rare. So, it's not impossible but, I would go with a cardiac related cause or foul play.

This ship was practically new. What is 4 years for a ship from the moment she was put into service. I refuse to believe that the ship was so neglected that an unexpected fire destroyed it. This was done by purpose, but I do not know why. How did the crew come to be employed on this ship? Were they Trade Union members? Or was the crew mixed and the fire started by someone seeking revenge for the mistreatment of those who were not Trade Union members?
