I’ve been keeping a secret from you, not because I didn’t want to share, but because I wanted to thoroughly test it out first.
To be completely transparent, I’m not trying to lose weight, nor do I ever encourage quick fixes, but I’m intrigued by the idea of improving insulin sensitivity, which benefits everyone. When cells become resistant to insulin, it leads to a dysfunctional metabolism, a HUGE precursor to various health issues.
Research shows that over 88% of the US population struggles with metabolic dysfunction- One of the most significant contributors to disease. At the root of metabolic dysfunction is “insulin resistance”.
There’s some new exciting research on a couple of natural weight-loss aids that work similarly to Ozempic, the highly talked-about weight loss drug. I’ve been experimenting with both natural alternatives, both with promising research: Allulose and Berberine.
Allulose, also known as D-psicose, is a simple sugar found naturally in several foods like figs, raisins, maple syrup, and brown sugar. It’s estimated that about 70% of D-psicose is absorbed in the digestive tract and then eliminated through urine, rather than used as energy, meaning it doesn’t affect blood sugar levels. Additionally, unlike many artificial sweeteners, it typically doesn’t cause stomach issues like gas or bloating. One significant difference between allulose and sugar is its calorie content; it contains only 0.4 calories per gram, about 90% fewer calories than sugar.
Allulose activates the ARC neurons that respond to glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and enhances the ability of GLP-1 to activate ARC neurons and POMC neurons🤪. In simpler terms, Allulose operates on the same pathway (GLP-1) as Ozempic but without the negative side effects.
Berberine is a natural plant compound found in various plants like European barberry, goldenseal, and tree turmeric. It offers several potential health benefits, including improving insulin sensitivity and regulating blood sugar levels. Like Allulose, Berberine acts on the GLP-1 pathway, contributing to its anti-diabetic properties and aiding in weight-loss.
To summarize, both Berberine and Allulose work similarly to Ozempic, regulating blood sugar levels and promoting weight-loss.
I understand that weight-loss can be challenging for many, and there's often a desire for quick fixes. However, I suggest focusing on restoring metabolic function first by adopting a whole food diet and ensuring adequate exercise because no amount of supplementation is going to be beneficial until lifestyle changes are made!!
Last month, I hosted a workshop on the most effective ways to lose weight and restore metabolic health. Joining the inner circle grants access to the workshop!
Personally, since incorporating both Berberine and Allulose into my routine, I've noticed more stable energy and blood sugar levels, as well as reduced cravings. Allulose has become one of my favorite alternative sweeteners, replacing regular sugar, honey, or maple syrup because it doesn’t impact blood sugar levels. I've been adding it to baked goods and Spindrift! 👌🏻
As mentioned above, before reaching for supplements, the healthiest and most effective way to lose weight is to restore metabolic health! You can access my workshop in the inner circle to be guided through the process.
