You are a bit confused. The Muslims who remained in Spain after the Christian conquest were called Mudéjares. And just when these Mudéjares were forced to convert to Christianity between 1502-1525 the name changed to Moriscos. So Moriscos were those descendants of Muslims converted to Christianity by force in the XVI century. And until the conversion the name was Mudéjares.

Most remained Muslims in secret. Although many were actually Christian who still practiced some Islamic traditions in combination with Catholicism.

You forgot a big detail .. many moriscos or even mixed northern christian and morisco descended people went to the new world as conquerers ,colonizers,miners, opportunists to many parts of new spain most of mexico ,columbia,puerto ricans , venezuela etc.
