One of the bigger questions I saw from the Thursday night opener with the Bills and the Rams is what happened to wide receiver Allen Robinson. Robinson was a highly sought-after free agent. He’s a player that has been constantly plagued by poor quarterback play his entire career. Finally seeing him sign with a team like the Los Angeles Rams and having a quarterback like Matt Stafford was honestly a dream come true. He was a player that I thought would instantly benefit from being on this team.
So, what happened in this one? He finished the game with one catch for 12 yards on two targets, and this was even after playing almost every single snap.

Something happened leading up to the game. The Rams lead reporter said that everything she saw leading up to the install for week one (which they aren't allowed to be present for) suggested Cam was the lead back. Dude messed up somewhere.

Welcome aboard! I subbed after his third vid; and I hold Sam up there with Brett Kolman, as far as KZbin coaches/scouts (😏😉). And just as informative as many professional staff breakdown/scouting reports. I eat this stuff up: the game within the game. As an undersized player, back in school, I had to rely on study habits and technique to get any playing time. So, this stuff takes me back.

I'm new to your channel. Great job in providing a detailed analysis of ARob's route running, showing that he was creating separation. Stafford was at a disadvantage because he couldn't practice doing the preseason due to the arm injury and also facing the #1 defense out of the gate. It's only normal that he would throw to the WR that had built a rapport with. I agree that McVay will correct those problems. I picked ARon off of waivers because someone dropped him in our league 😂 I couldn't believe it. Thanks again for the great video👍

Awesome breakdown Samuel. As a fan Allen Robinson since Penn state. I'm sure MCcvay will make an adjustment to get A Rob involve in the passing game

Great video as always. I think a lot of people (myself included) thought that they would use Robinson and Cupp as WR1a and WR1b. Alternating who is the focal point receiver would let them be less predictable and challenge defenses to cover both of them. Instead it was pretty much Cupp as WR1 and Robinson if Stafford wanted to throw to him which of course seldom happened. Hopefully he'll get some designed plays for him otherwise he will be pretty much wasted as he is a pretty great receiver.

@@Dewyyyyyy Statistically he had a bad year but I don't think it's because he's not good. A lot of people I follow noted how the bad QB play hurt his production as well as a lack of effort due to being on a crap team in a contract year. And the Rams agree because they spent $15M a year on a guy who only got 400 receiving yards last year.

Great breakdown; one other item that bothered me. After Stafford threw the final pass to AR, he immediately went over to McVay and made a comment. The body language throughout the night just seemed very distant towards AROB. Probably nothing...

Sorta Weird I hope Stafford doesn’t have a problem with Robinson because this would allow teams to scheme way better for Krupp.

I have to make the decision of whether I keep Allen Robinson or drop him to pickup James Robinson and I just can't make my mind up. I'm leaning towards dropping A. Rob, but idk.

I was wondering if you can look at the 2 consecutive plays beginning with 6:23 left in the 1st quarter. To me it looked like lazy routes. The first one lead to a sack. But your right that Kupp was the prioritized target. I wonder if that's why he didn't wear blue sleeves. To help Stafford find him while scrambling under pressure.

Great video! I have just one point I disagree with: Atlanta's defense. I went into that game just to see how the Saints looked, but Atlanta was aggressive and got to Jameis Winston more than I expected. The Rams should still win, but I wouldn't be surprised if Stafford has another uphill battle next week.

Can we get an analysis on how the Broncos beat themselves yesterday.
@cybrhunk333
@cybrhunk333 Жыл бұрын
Appreciate your analysis, but I'll cut to the chase and say what needs to be said. Everything you mentioned to explain why Robinson wasn't targeted more in this game should have been addressed at half-time by the HC, OC, Stafford and Robinson. A QB with Stafford's talent and experience SHOULD have been able to get that offense out of the 'Kupp is the Only viable receiving option' mode', if he wanted to. Allen Robinson (and all of his Fantasy Football managers) was 'sacrificed' for want of a better term, Kupp HAD to get his numbers AT ALL COST. :-) Being a long-time Stafford fan since his days in Detroit, I was surprised and extremely disappointed with his performance in this game.

Hopefully, the rams didn't pay $48m to have AR jog around the field; But he's been on the roster for awhile so you may want to start including him in the game plan.

@5:25 Stafford is already looking to throw the ball to his closest receiver, who is outside the numbers running out of bounds. He isn’t being pressured, yet he throws the ball before giving Kupp time to run….Kupp is 1v1 with a turned safety…..Stafford should have quick faked and hit Kupp for the TD. And if you pause in the next frame when Stafford is letting the ball go, Kupp is head down, running past the safety, COMPLETELY WIDE OPEN! Lol

stafford happened. he had issues like this all throughout his time in Detroit. he just misses seeing guys. he is slow at checkdowns, and that causes this issue. its hard to spot when things go right. but its blatantly obvious when things go bad and youre forced to see why. its like he didnt even see that side of the field. and when stafford actually has a name at reciever, he literally doesnt look for anyone else. Kupp drawing coverage obviously opens up other guys. anybody that watches the sport understands that. gotta ask, this far into a career, how does stafford NOT know this?

Thing's to remember: ~ It IS just one game, he's a consumate pro and will bounce back. ~ First game of the season, that is broadcast to a huge audience, against a team that is widely picked to represent the AFC in this year's Super Bowl. So, it make's complete sense that Stafford went to Kupp early and often- comfort, habitual, security... when excrement is hitting the wind-maker, human's always fall back to what they KNOW. ~ to me, this game was less about Stafford's over-reliance on Kupp and more about his O-line's inability to protect. ~ McVay need's to protect his QB and his new linemen, as they gel, by calling a more aggressive run game. A one-sided offense is SO much easier to defend, and that Buffalo D did not need help. ~ think they miss Whitworth? 😏

The nfl RIGGED this game. NO excuses for Stafford not throwing to A-Rob. O-line was told to let them in because there is no other excuse for playing this soft. With my childhood team getting their Logo changed to goat horns and winning the Super Bowl on a ridiculous fad pass to Kupp then playing like the old lambs that everyone hates. This is just too obvious to me. The NFL is an entertainment company creating drama just like the soap operas they run on tell-lie-vision. How can a team that is 23rd in the league in the run game win the super bowl???? Same team NO running game looked like trash in the opener! Hahaha
