Amerie's career was sabotaged by the music industry. She and Beyonce were too much alike and money bought Beyonce's fame. Back in the early 2000s there were many new artists whose careers were destroyed because they were too similar to an existing hitmaker. Tommy Matola launched Tarrayln Ramsey's debut single "Up Against All Odds" but she sound too much like Whitney so they killed her career. Amerie went down because of Beyonce. Neyo suffered because of Usher. Tank suffered because of Tyrese and on and on and on... It's crazy how things worked out for some...

That comparison is so dumb because they are both extremely talented and true artists on their own right and it's unfair to both ladies but more so to Amerie. AND they couldn't be more different in terms of voice, style, charisma, journey etc. But since you wanna play that game and that I got time today!!! Beyonce had sold millions of records, toured the world (stadiums) , had number one songs and grammies (when they meant something) with Destiny's Child and by herself before Amerie released her most popular song , to date - "One Thing", that peaked at number #9 in 2005. Hence the reason why Amerie actually paid a tribute to DC: kzbin.info/www/bejne/boDZqZiaodaUrNE Amerie had everything but a long term vision and the team that would help her execute this project AKA release hits after hits, become mainstream, iconic but also current. Also I personally think that when husbands or boyfriends manage their significant others they doom their artist. I've always hated the fact that her now husband was (is?)her manager cause he's not a good one and she would have known if feelings were not involved... HE helped sabotage Amerie because again he sucks same for her record label. Amerie was never meant to perform in unknown clubs EVER! and this makes me mad asf lolol! This guy literally crushed a diamond. Even Beyonce released herself from her dad at some point and became even more successful as a result. Nobody sabotaged her but her own camp but she's supposed to be the captain of her ship too so that's on her as well.

Before he even said it I thought J. Lo’s “Get Right” sounded a lot like “1Thing.” I always assumed that was the sound she was trying to recreate. Crazy how labels and producers can sabotage their own artists. She had a unique sound and they sold it off and on top of that didn’t promote her album. Why wouldn’t you debut her album in the US? 🤨 She’s an American artist and the US is the largest market.
@natsohigh55524 жыл бұрын
Because she's basically black. People like Brandy, Monica, Mya they've all sold more outside the US. America doesn't like black artists

@@stayflyking What black women artist have songs or movies with Jlo?? She already had the help of her Hispanic community, plus the white community supported her because she's a "white La-teena woman" so that's her fan base. Don’t sleep on the in love and war album it’s solid, amerie collaborated with Rich to make her signature go-go sound and it’s still very present In her third and four album. She just developed in to a more alternative sound. I know her last two albums had poor sales but that doesn’t discredit the quality music in those two last projects.
