One issue Billy had was he liked to bully people, and bullies hate being bullied more than anyone else. He then got bullied in the ring by Canelo - he got completely humbled. His ego was then shook the the core, damaged beyond recognition. He never quite rebuilt his ego, or fully embraced being a humble man. I would like to see him return as a great fighter again as a more humble man. But it’s not happening is it? Can’t let go of that nasty spiteful ego

Even on his best night, I don't think we ever got to see more than 35% of what he could actually do. He was, at times, dazzlingly good, and he wasnt fighting journeymen. The difference between being perceived as odd, eccentric and extrovert, and being seen as insane is down to how much wealth you have, and I'll leave it at that. Billy Joe Saunders was for real a boxer I wondered about from time- to time what happened to (?) as he was no doubts a very tallented boxer with a fighting spirit. Sure I was very well aware of the broken cheek bone he suffered in his KO loss to Canelo Alvarez (I'm still suspicious of no fare play with the Saunders & Plant fights) but I believed he would sooner or later return to the ring...and that apperently was not to happen. He very soon turns 35 (Aug, 30, 2024) and have not boxed a single fight since May 2021 = 4 years and it looks very-very unlikley he can ever make a full comeback that leads back up to the top. He would need a lot of work-out, a lot of training and fight a lot of journeymen to regain his confidence, his ring skills and rise through the ranks to the better names, and that is a BIG process of steps I seriously doubt he can- or even want to commit to.

It's a shame about Saunders because he did everything right at British, Commonwealth and European level. Golovkin dominated the middleweight division at this time. Great performances against David Lemieux and Willie Monroe Jr to gain experience for Golovkin but unfortunately Boxing fans wanted GGG vs Canelo! His fights at Super middleweight weren't anything special but landed him the Canelo fight which I do believe had it gone the distance and the judges weren't currupt Saunders would of got the decision! Once you sustain an injury like Saunders did, you're psychologically injured, he'll never be the same again!

He said it would be biggest upset in history for him. Yeah talk that smack/ your history in boxing is over😂 He got right prediction.

You're saying "if Canelo hadn't knocked him out, he would have won" , which is a fairly big if

@PKaye-ru2ks Anything's possible, I know the Bivol fight was at Light Heavyweight but none the less Canelo is beatable!

Would’ve been nice to see him back, a fight with him and Caleb Plant would have been exciting. A classic UK vs US fight

One punch is all it took to end this man’s career, name, legacy. Just a stepping stone for Canelo

If Saunders had fought Canelo the same style like he did against David Lemuix, Saunders probably had a chance or come out of the ring without a broken socket.

Talented boxer but his behaviour has been disgraceful (the video with that woman in the car was awful). He needed humbling by Canelo.

Real punch? How many pro boxers have you fought or sparred? That shot from Canelo isn’t “a real punch” it was a hellacious shot from the P4P number one at the time. Get some perspective lad.

He was a UK hype job. Canelo knew it was an easy title and division to become Undisputed. Nobody cared before before Canelo.
