The Great Schism, and the subsequent departure from Orthodoxy happened it just took 1000 years to fully collapse into the present madness.

My wife is “the strength of my right hand!” This is actually the traditional practice. Men didn’t start wearing the band on the left hand until the industrial Revolution wherein it became dangerous because it would catch in machines. Wearing it on the left was particular to the English speaking world. But wearing it in the right has remained the norm in Central and Eastern Europe until today.

@@raymondvincentthm1642 Yes, this I knew. While I'm second generation Greek, my father always wore his wedding band on his right hand

European custom. I saw an old service book, in English, where right hand was crossed out and left was written in.

The Roman fresco is from Pompeii 79-AD. The man pictured is a Syrian veteran of the Roman legions holding his discharge scroll, a common depiction of the time for a wealthy former Roman soldier which this man was. It's very probable he was among the soldiers who tore down the Great Temple. He and his wife operated two bakeries in Pompeii. He and his wife were both Christians. There was a cross above each oven made of wood. The volcano burned them but the chiseled space remains. At their home where this fresco is, on the door sill were words denoting the outside streets were "Haram", forbidden, bad...and inside lived Christians.

Regarding the vast gulf between pagan culture and our nihilistic, post-Christian culture, see the following passage by the Roman Stoic Musonius Rufus, wherein he forbids abortion and promotes childrearing and family to a degree that would be considered very bizarre by most secular people today: "And when the citizens had few or no children did they not regard it as a loss, but when they had children, yes, plenty of them, did they not regard it as a gain? So it was for this reason that they forbade women to suffer abortions and imposed a penalty upon those who disobeyed; for this reason they discouraged them from choosing childlessness and avoiding parenthood, and for this reason they gave to both husband and wife a reward for large families, and set a penalty upon childlessness. How, then, can we avoid doing wrong and breaking the law if we do the opposite of the wish of the lawgivers, godlike men and dear to the gods, whom it is considered good and advantageous to follow? And certainly we do the opposite if we avoid having many children. How can we help committing a sin against the gods of our fathers and against Zeus, guardian of the race, if we do this?...And that raising many children is an honorable and profitable thing one may gather from the fact that a man who has many children is honored in the city, that he has the respect of his neighbors, that he has more influence than his equals if they are not equally blest with children....One may remark what a fine sight it is to see a man or woman surrounded by their children. Surely one could not witness a procession arrayed in honor of the gods so beautiful nor a choral dance performed in order at a religious celebration so well worth seeing as a chorus of children forming a guard of honor for their father or mother in the city of their birth, leading their parents by the hand or dutifully caring for them in some other way. What is more beautiful than this sight?"

Raymond and Joe: I know Nietzsche was an atheist. When he stated we killed God… I’m assuming that in itself was not, according to him, a bad thing. What did he think we should replace with God… triumph of the human spirit? Triumph of the superior person, the virtuous person (virtuous not in the Christian sense but in the classical sense)?human power? Was Nietzsche a good person or evil….I know his philosophy leads to bad things… but did he himself have good motives? Would he have approved of the transgender movement… a human can just recreate himself?

Raymond and Joe: So, is Raymond saying that due to the architectural development that allowed arched windows to Let in natural light, which turned the mind and spirit to a focus on the natural, secular world. This is surely one factor in the rise of secularism. Joe seemed to be saying that there is an error in the way that the RC Church thought of the body… the theology of the body, if you will. Joe can you talk more about this. You were saying pagan thought wasn’t completely eradicated. Can you compare the Eastern view of the body with the west’s, and also how the west and the east view Christ’s humanity? Also, did the art cause the problem or were the problems there and the art just reflected it?

A igreja adventista também faz forte oposição ao catolicismo romano, mas por razões doutrinárias e proféticas.
