Man if you watched Billy Owens at Syracuse you would have thought he was gonna be the next Magic Johnson. That's how highly we thought of him back in the early EARLY days.

Played with Mills in Compton AAU league, with Owens at 5 Star Camp, Against Sealy, Latner, Kemp, Bell at 5 Star. Saw Martin, McClean at all tournaments in California/Vegas and Morning and Mustaf at UCLA tournament. 88 was a very competitive yr…Definitely had to bring A-Game back then. Lotta other players not mentioned that were outstanding. Glad I got to compete during that time.

Peace to everyone. I remember this class well and starting with the 79 class with too many guys to name the 88 was up next with great big men and some outstanding guard play along with the forwards what a stacked class I'm not saying it's the greatest high school class but definitely worth the hype

Heard that Kenny Williams was the real deal. Some people had him rated ahead of Mourning and Shawn Kemp in this class. He didn't play in that McDonald's game. Shaq said he was the 3rd option at LSU behind the former Chris Jackson and Stanley Roberts. No way Derrick {sic} Martin was a trainer in his latter years 😂. Eric Anderson was the truth at Indiana. His skill set in that Bobby Knight motion offense was like hand and glove. They got cheated against Duke in the Final Four. Jarrod Mustaf 🤦♂️

Christian Laettner proved to be the greatest college player from this class (and in the history of college basketball), the overall best players from this class were Shawn Kemp and Alonzo Mourning. Overall a very good class. Also Chris Jackson was the original Steph Curry. His game was about 25-30 years before it's time.
