As a lifelong Atlanta Falcons fan, I'm not sure there is any NFL fan base that knows pain quite like we do, to have defeat snatched from the jaws of victory time and time again. In my mind 28-3 was more painful, just because that game was years in the making for our franchise and the past few seasons had all been building towards this one moment, only to have it all taken away from us over the course of those last 30 minutes.

Minor correction at around 17:25: Super Bowl 52 was not the highest scoring Super Bowl. That distinction belongs to Super Bowl 29 (52 had 74 points scored [Eagles 41 + Patriots 33], 29 had 75 points scored [49ers 49 + Chargers 26]). Super Bowl 52 was the most “offensive” one though, as the two teams combined for over 1150 yards of offense (which I believe is a record for all games). Great video though, very entertaining!

I think being number one just adds more pressure. You're expected to win against lower seeds even though they may have only a slightly worse record. Sometimes it's just a team solidifying at the right time, giants and packers are notable examples when they won. The bengals from the year before were impressive too even if they got beat by the rams, not sure if anyone expected them to be good with burrow coming off that knee injury and making the horrible mistake of drafting chase instead of that offensive lineman. that's why I don't give af what all those so called analysts say.

I've been saying this for years now (I'm a Bill's fan). It doesn't matter what seat you get, or your record. It's all about getting hot during the playoffs. And typically one of those "good position groups" step it up in the Playoffs and that team wins the Superbowl.

As a Falcons fan, throwing an interception at the goal line to lose the game is much, much worse. Both of these are both heart wrenching, agonizing ways of having victory in your hands just for it to slip out of your hands, but the difference is that the Seahawks actually had a much more sizable chance to win in the final seconds of regulation, while the Falcons were basically screwed by the flip of a coin.

Blowing a 23 point lead in the SB is worse then 1 dumb play on the goal line to cost the game. ATL could have just let the clock run down every play and ran the ball in the 2nd half and NE wouldn't of had enough possessions to make their comeback. Instead ATL decided to throw pick 6s and throw incompletions which took no time off the clock and gave NE enough possessions to get back in the game and win.

The 28-3 comeback is the worst way to lose a Super Bowl. Falcons had the ball MULTIPLE times over the course of the comeback... 28-9... 28-12... 28-20... (after the Pats scored... Falcons had a first down at the 22 yard line from a Julio Jones catch.) Going up 31-20 that late in the game would have in fact won it.. Wasn't that much time left. Now... the Seahawks goal line int to the Pats... is but one play. Atlanta had at least 4 opportunities... to score at least a field goal and thus put the game out of reach. Agony over one play... or multiple agonies over 3 or 4 drives that did nothing

The goaline had much more damage as a Seahawks fan. We lost the LOB because of it. This also showed Pete Carolls intent to favor Russ over his defense which used to be the other way around. And we never made it halfway to the Super Bowl since. Not to mention the heart attack when I saw the play. This ruined our team because Russel Wilson was a system QB who sucks in the pocket which is why in Denver he can’t do anything. Mostly because of his height. He can’t roll out of the pocket anymore.

This favoring Russ idea is a product of the childishness and greed of the LOB players it's not based in reality. Belichick just outsmarted the Seahawks coaches. That pass play was their go to goal line play they were something like 9-0 that year using it. When Belichick decided not to call a timeout with 28 seconds left he made the coaches rush their decision and they ran the play the Patriots had practiced stopping all week.
