How many remember Fubu? In the late 90s to early 2000s Fubu was one of the most popular street brands in the world.
It was created in the days before streetwear was really even a thing, in a manner of speaking, it could be looked at as the grandfather of streetwear
We all know fubu as a relec of the past today, but how exactly did they fall off? Lets find out.
Im Nate the Great from Takeflight214.com and this is the rise and fall of Fubu.

You have some good content. I like what you are putting out. A few things though in reference to this video. FUBU wasn't streetwear they were considered "Urban Fashion" much like Karl Kani, Cross Colours & Mecca to name a few. Streetwear from the early 90s to the beginning of the 2000's was underground. Stussy is the Godfather of streetwear. Other brands apart of that underground movement were Triple 5 Soul, PNB Nation, Fresh Jive, Union, XtraLage again to name a few. What you said about Fubu was correct about them going to the Magic trade show in Vegas. The thing is they still didn't have enough money. They ended up partner with Samsung (yes the electronics company) clothing division ran by Norman Weisfeld and his partner Bruce. That backing is what took Fubu from struggling to global success. I know all this because I came up in the industry at that time. I also had my dealings with Norman and Bruce as well.

I stop buying Fubu in 98 when that guy Damian was on Rap City and he made a comment saying if you can afford Tommy you can afford mine....I took exception to that bcuz the acronyms for Fubu was For Us By Us....I know he was trying to get his paper back but we black folks are poor....if I can remember anyway I think I bought two FB shirts at a store in the mall at expensive prices and bought the remaining FB shirts from Burlington for half of the mall prices until he appeared on Rap City...I didn't really sweat it anyway bcuz there were sooooooooooo many dope clothing lines back in the 90s...which aren't none here in 2024

I thought LL Cool J was the owner of FUBU since he wore it so much. FUBU was very popular back in the late 90s.

I still have my joints, that was the platinum collections, I was a baller back then and pro black, so I repped that shi, no Hilfiger, Polo, maybe a few of those pieces but the rest was the urban brands, enyce came wit it too, I wound up taking the labels, logos of the enyce but not tags on the inside and still rocking them and by doing that had stood the test of time.

If denim jackets and high top fades can make a comeback,so can fubu.theyll just have to really put in effort and have sharp ears and eyes to incorporate it in today's competitive market and constant changing culture

Draymond John annoys me. I don’t have to despise FUBU. I don’t have to dig it either. I just feel he short changed a lot of those that originally started with him

Have you personally known someone that wore fubu? It was never popular not even in the late 90s/ early 2000s, Daymond John inherited his wealth and uses that business as a way to portray himself as a self-made
